We have been studying the Purusha Suptam. Earlier we have seen from that Virat Purusha, Universal Being, all mankind has been created. And how was the creation? Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra. The face of the Virat Purusha became Brahmana, the shoulders and hands of the Virat Purusha became Kshatriya, and the legs have become the Vaishya, and the feet have become the Shudra. And we have discussed the point, very important point, this division of mankind is everywhere. Not only in India, we call it caste, but in the West they call it class, upper class, lower class. Among the upper classes, again many classes are there, among the lower classes also. Nowadays there are guilds, doctors' guilds, lawyers' guilds, etc., further dividing the society into irreconcilable divisions. But ours is the best type of explanation. The face stands for thinking power, the heart, and the shoulders and hands stand for controlling the people, correcting them, guiding them. If they do not listen, behave properly to correct them. Punishment, every punishment is a correction. Then the legs stand for movement. Everywhere there should be movement. When a person is thinking, we can think he is a Brahmana. When a person is doing some justice, we can think of him as a Kshatriya. When a person is moving for whatever purpose, including healthy exercise, we can call him a Vaishya. And when the person is serving, we are all serving, then one serves one's family, one's parents, one's husband and wife, one's children, and babies stand supreme as the kings or queens of the entire household. One little pip from them and everybody runs to look after that baby. So it is nothing but service. And those who serve are called Shudras. Depending upon what we are doing at any given point of time, we can be Brahmanas, we can be Kshatriyas, we can be Vaishyas, or we can be Shudras. And nothing, derogatory there. Through every action that we do, including breathing, eating, digesting, and fluttering our eyelids, etc., Svakarmana tam abhyakshya siddhim vindati manavah. Human being can attain to God himself by performing, discharging one's own duties in the right manner. That is how we will have to understand this. So Chandram, we have seen how this Brahmana, etc., will work. And through this process, if we direct everything to God, our minds will be purified, called technically Chitta Shuddhi, and we will be progressing towards God. That is the entire purpose of the Upanishads, of the Vedas, of the Gospels of Sri Ramakrishna, Bhagavad Gita, Puranas. Everything is to direct our body and mind, everything, for this one purpose, Param Purushartham, to get Mukti. So why this elaborate description of Srishti creation has come out? Simple fact. It came from God. Every part of God became so many parts of us, just as explained just now. And our duty, in fact, the inevitable, inescapable destination is to go to God. That is all we have to think about it. So we have seen that human beings have been created. But now they have to be sustained. So some of the, what we call, Adhidevatas, that is Adhidaivika, that is the supreme powers for sustaining every type of life on this earth, have to be created. And that's what we are going to see in this 14th mantra. Chandra Maa Manaso Jataha, Chaksho Suryo Ajayata, Mukhat Indrascha Agnischa, Pranat Vayu Ajayata. Let us remember that every single description is not covered. Only we have to add. This is what we call etc. That means a few samples are taken and we have to understand every other part exactly in the same way. So Chandra Maa Manaso Jataha, the moon, what we call the moon, not what the scientists call the moon. Always remember the moon, the sun and the fire and the Indra and the Prana, Vayu, these are special terms where we have to add Devata, Chandra Devata, then Surya Devata, Indra Devata, Agni Devata, Prana Devata. Why? I will tell you, give you a small example which I have given umpteen number of times. So we know about Panchabhutas, that is Akasha, Vayu, Agni, Jala and Prithvi. These are called Panchabhutas, but Panchadevatatmakabhutas, all of them are Devatas, divinities. Who is a Devata? We have to remember these definitions. Who is a Devata? Without whose presence, without whose existence, without whose grace, we cannot even survive even a single second. We are all made up of food, made up of water, made up of heat, made up of air and made up of space. This is a well-known fact. So when we are hungry, the element called food becomes less and applies. Same way, water, when we become cold, we require fire. When we are breathless, we require tremendous amount of breathing, especially if we have run a marathon, how the people will be taking, gulping pocketfuls of air. So without food, can we survive? Without water, can we survive? Without heat, can we survive? Without Pranavayu, oxygen, that is what air stands for, can we survive? And without Akasha, can we survive? Impossible. Not only that, not that. Five elements are there. If one element is lacking or two elements are lacking, we can carry on without being able to live. No, it is not possible. All the five Devatas are necessary. Otherwise, if we don't have food, people will die. If we don't have water, people will die. If we don't have heat, people will die. If we don't have Pranavayu or what we are suffering now, the whole earth we have polluted ourselves and we are suffering from various diseases, etc. and we cannot survive. Of course, without movement, we can never survive. This means that which affords us movement, placement, with the absence of even one of them, it is not possible to survive. So what is the definition of a Devata? Without whose presence within us, full presence within us, we can never even exist. That is called a Devata. Now, if we can understand this one, who is sustaining? Wherefrom we have come? From God. Who is sustaining us? God only. Where are we going? Where is the destination? Where is the end of our journey? God only. And that is what we need to... If we can understand in this way, the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, scriptures, everything becomes crystal clear because there is only one truth. That is the truth being said here. With this background, we will understand this 14th mantra of the Purusha Sutta. Chandrama Manaso Jataha. From Brahma's mind came the moon. That is why you just understood what is Brahma's mind. Universal mind is called Brahma's mind. Just imagine, you are working in a huge company. Thousands of people are working. Whether it is Google or any other big company, Apple, IBM, etc. Whatever it is, thousands of people. But all of them are given freedom. But all their freedom is being directed by one central direction. That is the CEO. The Chief Executive Officer. He has certain goals in mind. And he is controlling the minds of everybody. And he allots the work according to their capacities. If you can understand this concept, this whole universe is nothing but a huge... Creation is nothing but a huge company. And God has created various types of people so that various positions can be obtained. And that is if we understand. So Manaso Jataha. Who is born? Chandrama. Whose mind? Not my mind. Not any individual's mind. But Brahma's. Brahma means here. Saguna Brahma's mind came the moon. And we are able to see. What are we able to see? How are we able to see through the eye? What can the eye see? Colors. That is their main function. No other sense organ can experience color. Different. All the five different what is called inputs. The organs of knowledge. They have only their particular functions. No one indriya can take over the job of the other indriyas. Each one has a specialized task. That is why we have to understand. Who assigned it? Bhagawan. Here it makes it like that. Chaksho Suryo Ajayata. Surya means the ability to give us food, water, air, everything. But here specially light. What does light do? It enables the eye to see. This concept. That the eye is capable of only seeing colors. For that light is necessary. All the colors are born of only Surya. And a bit of that Surya is what we call my eye. EYE. EYE. That special organ which sees. And keep also in mind when you look at my eye. That is not the eye. That is only a house. And that which lives in that house. That belongs to the subtle body. So the eye belongs to the subtle body. The ear belongs to the subtle body. The tongue and the nostril. What we see outside is a housing component. What is inside? The housing component belongs to the cross body. But the ability to see, to hear, to smell, to taste and to touch. Shabda, Sparsha, Roop, Parasa, Gandha. That belongs to the Sukshma Sarera or subtle body. What is subtle body? No microscope, telescope, any scope will be able to find it out. Only from the scriptures we find out. And from our direct experience we find out. A person is deaf. You see that person's ears are perfectly okay. But he can't hear. Eyes are perfectly okay. He can't see. Nostrils are okay. He can't smell. And as you know, we ourselves can understand this. As we age, our capacity to see, to hear. That's why we are going on shouting, aah, hundred times. So every sense organ, including Karmendriyas. That is why we require a walker. And we want to walk. We can't even eat. We can't even digest. We can't do anything. As age progresses, or if some disease comes, so there is a subtle body. And this capacity to experience, obtain knowledge, belongs to the subtle body only. That is a point to keep in mind. But the Surya is from where it has come? From the eye of Brahma has come the Surya. That is Chakra, not from my eye, your eye, but from the eye of Brahma. The Surya, what we call the Surya Devata, is manifested. And from the Brahma's mouth. Mukha means two meanings are there. Face is one meaning. Mouth is another meaning. That's why we say, you know, from this person's, in English language, we do not mistake. Face and mouth are separate. But in Sanskrit language, the Mukha can convey both the meanings. Face as well as the mouth. So from the mouth came Indra and Agni. And what does the Mukha do? It speaks, speech. And that speech is possible only because of energy. That energy is called Agni and Indra, two. But from whose mouth? From Brahma's mouth are born Agni and Indra. And because of their ruling, we are able to speak out, etc. Prana, Dvayu, Ajayata. From directly the Prana aspect of Brahma, came this Vayu, which is outside. Just imagine, and I don't even expect too much of imagination. Because every creature, this Srishti can be divided into various categories. And various beings, living beings of course, not only living beings, I will come to that. Every living being requires to breathe. Including sharks, whales, etc. Every creature needs to breathe. What do they breathe? Prana. That is why it is called Prana Vayu. What is oxygen? Prana Vayu. And some plants, they do not breathe. Prana Vayu is poison to them. Sorry, oxygen is poison for them. But for them, carbon dioxide is there. Prana Vayu. And who is supplying? We are each other supplying. But who is the original supplier? That is only the Prana Devata, in the form of Vayu. And from the Prana aspect of Brahma, came this Vayu. That means what? Everything in this world, the sun, the moon, the stars, the meteors, the mountains, the rivers, all our physical bodies, all our minds, everything without exception, came only from Brahma's Sankalpa. How? Because of this Yagna. As if He Himself is becoming everything. So that One, Infinite, Unlimited, Brahma, Brahman, when He manifests, He is called Saguna Brahma. He is called Brahma, the Creator. And when He creates, He goes by the name of Creator called Brahma. When He protects, sustains, supplies, rewards, punishes, He goes by the name of Vishnu. And when the same One wants to give us a new dress, a new body, new mind, new thoughts, new everything, He is called Shiva. And Shiva is Mangalakara. The very meaning of the word is auspicious. And universally auspicious. So death is not a punishment. Death is not something very negative. It is extremely positive. None of us will object if our mother takes away our dirty, worn out, torn dresses and supplies with a new dress. The body is exactly like the dress. So this is how we have to understand from Brahma's mind came the Moon, from the eye came the Sun, from the face came the Indra, the Devatas called Indra and Agni, and from the Prana came Vayu. What a marvellous concept! Everything is coming from God. Every religion also tells the same thing. May not be in such detail, but the essence is the same. Ask any devout Muslim, where from this creation came? Allah had created. Ask a Christian, where from the world has come? From God only. How did he do it? Well, six days he worked hard and seventh day he took rest. As if God also requires rest. Does he require rest? Of course, if anybody works, rest is necessary. But being universal energy, he can work for a thousand yugas, but equally if a man works for a day, he requires a similar amount of resting time. If a man works three days, he requires three days rest. If a man works for one yuga, he requires one yuga's rest. And if Brahma works for one thousand yugas, he requires one thousand yugas. That's why, Even God requires. Only in the Christian Bible it is said, he worked for six days. What about the seventh day? Seventh day he remained in himself. God's rest means, I want to be myself. That is why it is called a holy day. What started as a holy day, we converted into very expendable holidays. And now we are fighting. We want two days holidays. And some people, some governments are trying to make it. I think they made it already. Three days holidays. And if this Chaturthi, Peethi and Yaya comes, probably seven days rest will be there. I don't know. So, what a marvelous concept has come. Everything is Brahma. So whenever you think, my eye, no, it is Brahma's eye. Whenever I hear something, my ear, no, Brahma's ear. Brahma's nostrils. Brahma's everything. I am walking, Brahma is walking. I am moving my hands, Brahma is moving. And this concept has been beautifully put in the Shivaparadakshamapana Stotram. If I move my hands, Aratrikam for you. If my legs move, that is called Tirtha Yatra or Pradakshinam. Going around God, a temple. Going around God. And if I speak, that is a Stuti, Stotram. And then if I eat, that is Naivedya. And if I dance, that is your entertainment. And what about my sleep? That is called Samadhi. Nidra Samadhi Stuti. Yad Yad Karma Karomi Tatta Dakhilam Shambho Tava Aradhanam. What a marvelous concept it is. Also, we discussed something very important. So this Chandra and mind, everything has got an internal relationship. This is called a triangular relationship. What is this? I will just give an illustration. The sunlight and the colors in the external world and my eye. These three must inevitably be present. If this triangle is not there, the experience that I get of seeing colors cannot arise. Sun is there, that means light is there. Tree is not there, I am there, useless. The sun is there, tree is there, I am not there, useless. I am there, the tree is there, and the sun is not there, that is also useless. Light, the object which reveals that light and me, who is capable of experiencing that object with the help of that light, that is the triangle. Apply it to every other sense organ. There must be space, there must be sound, and then our ears are capable of understanding it. That is the triangle. For every organ of knowledge, sense organ of knowledge is a triangle. So who is supporting? Brahma himself is supporting. This instance of the sun and the light and the tree. Can you imagine without the sun, can there be the external world? Absolutely no. Can I be with this physical body and mind? Absolutely no. So Bhagawan only is sustaining, creating, and so if the sun is not present in my body in the form of what is called Chakshur Indriya, the capacity to see, even if there is sunlight, and the external world of colours, can I perceive those colours? If I am blind, I cannot perceive. So apply it to every sense organ of knowledge, every organ of even action. For example, the hands. Who is the Adipati? Indra is the Adipati. And what is the function? Grasping is the function. And what does it grasp? There must be some object, otherwise eating is not possible, taking somebody by hand is not possible, drowning is not possible, killing somebody is not possible, nothing is possible without this triangle. So you also extend the same thing to all the ten organs. Now we are coming to the mind, because from Brahma's mind came the Chandrama, our moon. And this beautiful concept has been so explicitly laid down in the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, गामाविष्यच भूतानि धारयाम्यहमोजसा पुष्णामिच अउषदी सर्वाः सोमो भूत्वारसात्मका As the sun, I create, I sustain, and I create all the plants, etc. But what does the moon do? The moonlight puts into every one of these plants, etc. That rasa, rasaatmakaha. The moon is called rasaatmakaha. That's why there are many theories, and most of us are blissfully ignorant of it. We don't need to know really. According to Ayurveda, if they have to pick up a medicinal plant, which is a cure for some particular disease, what is a disease? Lack of something. Hunger is a disease. And the inability to breathe, asthma, is a disease. So everything is a disease if those organs, instruments, do not function properly. So this Chandrama, the Ayurvedic physicians tell us, this particular medicinal plant should be plucked only on such and such a date, at night, on a particular tithi, when the moon is supposed to work or imbibe that particular plant with the greatest curative powers. Ramayana, if you remember, Hanuman was sent to revive this plant called Amruta, and he could not distinguish it. And that is why he said, he will bring the whole mountain, let the Ayurvedic physicians choose it. So these are not merely faith. Many marvellous experiments have been made, and that is what we need to understand. Everything is coming out of Brahma. Everything is sustained by Brahma in the form of Vishnu. Everything is being recycled by Brahma in the form of Shiva. So, Just a little bit of explanation, because the more we understand, the more we can enjoy and appreciate how much these Rishis know about it and are telling. First, Manasaha. Who is the master of our body and mind? It is the mind. Whatever the mind says, if some persons become very joyous because of the thoughts. What thoughts? Joyous thoughts. Some people become depressed. What thoughts? Depressing thoughts. Some people see nightmarish dreams. Because of what? Nightmarish thoughts nourished by reading nightmarish books. Or watching nightmarish cinemas, etc. So, that is how it comes. And this Chandra is the Adhipati for every mind. That is why if some people cannot think properly, they are too much influenced by imbalance of the Chandra's power. That is why they are called lunatics. Lunatic means the influence of the lunar sphere is too much. Imbalanced power. That is an example. That is why if we pray to Chandrama, and you see what happens, the whole mind becomes cool as it were. That is why all romantic activities take place only in moonlight. Have you ever seen in any cinema, a couple dancing at 12 o'clock when the sun is burning? Only beautiful gardens. And we have to appreciate our Indian people. These gardens are really really beautiful. And probably that is the only time you are able to see those. Because those fellows have taken the movie of those gardens. Mysore, Vrindavan gardens, etc. Now what is the point? If we can pray to the Chandra, and pray to him, may you be auspicious to me, and our minds will become much better. Similarly, if our eye problems are there, we have to pray to the Surya Devata. Because Surya only is manifesting in the form of the eye, Chakshu Indriya, not our external eye. So that is why we say, Oh God, may I be able to see, both in the metaphorical as well as physical sense. Physical means, may I see what is happening properly. And if we don't, under the influence of drugs, etc., accidents take place. But more important, may I be able to see properly. That is why when we understand a point, we say, I see, like that. So it is coming from God. Right knowledge from God. That is why when Gayathri Vasana is done, Sandhya time, where do we face? Towards the Sun, rising Sun or the setting Sun. That is most marvellous. Similarly, a person is able to speak beautifully for a long time, and very strongly. And you say, Oh, this person had delivered a fiery speech. That means he was able to inspire many number of people. When Swami Vivekananda used to speak, everybody used to get up. Swami Turiyananda used to tell, when Swamiji used to speak, a dead person wants to get up and hear what Swamiji is telling. And when you fellows speak, I feel that I better be dead than alive. Mukha means mouth. Mouth is the only important central sense organ for speech. That is Indra and Agni. Indra for energy. Agni for inspiration. And Vayu, 24 hours. Who is fanning us? Vayu Devata. Brahma is fanning us. Of course, he is fanning himself indirectly. So in our form, this Pranavayu. And who is giving us all the waters? Him only. So Surya, Chandra, Vayu, Agni, Jala and Prithvi. They are the causes of the entire creation. They are the sustainers of the creation. And everything goes back to them. Because wherever something has come out, it has to go back to them. If we understand this way, then we understand that it is everywhere God only, nothing else. Now, something also has to be... So all these Adi Devatas, residing deities are there. But they must have also space to move. Worlds have to be created. You created men. You created everything. But you also must create the appropriate spaces. That is going to come up in the 15th mantra. Thus, these people imagined. Which people are we talking about? In case you have forgotten, Rishis, Devas and Sadhyas. This is what is called first creation. Foundational created beings. Brahma created them and assigned them. Now you continue the creation. So when somebody wants to start a new company, first he will gather a few people and assigns different roles. Now you people go on starting. The factory or the company is not started. But even for that, there must be some inspiring people who could think. This is the purpose. For this purpose, this kind of factory or company has to be done. And for that purpose, this equipment, this sort of people, this kind of place, how much space etc. needed, those planners and executors. That is what is given in the form of Rishis, Devas and finally the Sadhyas, assistants. A whole army of workers have to do everything. And that is being now clearly expounded in this 15th part of the Purusha Suptam. Though it is arranged in this way, we have to put it this way. Here is that Virat Purusha. And from his head came what is called Swarga Loka. All the seven upper Lokas including the Bhuloka. Then Navya, from his navel came the interstellar space. That is between the Earth and between the what we call Swar Loka. That is called Swar Loka. Here it is represented as Dyau, Akasha. So in between, that is called Antariksha, means in between space, between Earth and between the Swarga Loka. That is called Bhuvar Loka. Bhu is Bhoomi, Bhuvaha is Antariksham, Suvaha or Swaha is the Swarga Loka. So from God's face came that Swarga Loka. That is also meaningful actually. And from his navel came the, because the navel is below the face, Kev Samvartata. Then what are these? Padbhiyam Bhoomi, from his feet, because where is Earth? Where do you put your feet? So Brahma also has to put his foot. And that place is called Bhoomi. And that is how Bhoomi had come out. And interstellar space has come out. Swarga Loka has come out. All the Lokas have come out. Only sometimes they are expanded as 14 Lokas, as we have been seeing in the Aitareya Upanishad, 5 plus 1 plus 1 plus 7. So this is how it is divided. And Dishaha, Shrotra. Dishaha means direction. Direction means space. Space came from his ears. Earlier we said, Dishaha had come from Shrotra. Here he is telling, there Dishaha means Adishtatra Devata, for the sound to travel. Here it is, the Virat Purusha is imagined exactly like a human being. That is why he is called Purushaha, like human being, Purusha. So from his ears came all this, what we call, the East, the West, the South, the North, above, below, and according to Hindu calendar, 8 in between, East and South, and the West and North and East, etc. 8 directions, above, below. All this is covered. That is called Shrotra Tatha. In that manner, that means you go on adding, etc., etc., etc. Lokagum Akalpayam. So the worlds have been imagined by them. And their imagination becomes reality. Like our dreams become a reality. Space emerged from the navel of Brahma. From his, Brahma's head emerged the heaven. From the feet of Brahma came the earth. From the ears came the directions. And all these worlds have thus been created. How were they created? Remember, the Manasika Yagna. They sat in meditation. They imagined it should be like that. And everything has become a reality. Because their Satyavanta, Satyakamaha, Satya Sankalpaha, whatever they imagined, it will come. Even today, even though there is a time gap, this is the same procedure. I explained it earlier. If an artist wants to paint something, does he simply take a piece of cloth, canvas, and go on scribbling something? No. He will think, this is what I want to create. And which place, exactly what goes, what color, what is called depth of the color, thickness of the color, everything should be so. Great artists take sometimes years and years and years. Similarly, great musicians, great statesmen, any brain work requires a tremendous amount of deep thinking. And out of that deep thinking comes everything. But here only, there is no time gap. The moment he thinks, it happens. How? For that, the best example will be a dream. You think of a tiger, tiger will come. Think of an ice cream, and you start screaming. Why? Because you thought of ice cream, and somebody else is eating it. That is how you thought about it. You wanted it for yourself. Why did you not think that I want ice cream? So you have to go on screaming, that's all. That will be pure labor. So everything, what is the idea? All the worlds, Ananta, Koti, Brahmanda, have emerged only from the Divine. Space emerged from the navel. From the head emerged the heaven. From his feet, Brahma's feet, Virat Purusha's feet, the earth. From the ears came the directions. Thus, all these worlds have been created. Now, a little bit of same logic we apply there. So after all, he had become the man, he had become the animals, and where do they live? Some people have to live on this earth called Bhuloka. Some creatures have to live, because their nature is very bad, and they live in what we call Patala Loka, or the lower nether worlds, not netherlands. Any connection is there, nether worlds. And some people live so high. That was the concept of Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra. This is the same concept to the worlds also. His head became Sarga Loka. Why? Head is meant to be used for thinking, and if a person thinks happy, positive, strength giving, Upanishadic thoughts, he becomes extremely happy. He is Indra Loka, Chandra Loka, Brihaspati Loka, and finally Satya Loka. And then what is the in-between? If you go on thinking only how to eat, how to drink, and then your attention is drawn where? To your stomach area. That is why it is called Antariksha. And then you are only trudging your feet, after eating, from the dining hall to the toilet. That is called Bhoomi Padbhiyam. So the feet have to move. I am only making a bit of fun, so enjoy it. So you want to hear. How does sound travel? Only when there is space. No obstruction should be there. That is what is meant. Shrotrat Deshaha. Deshaha means what? Space. Space does not, by the way, do not have any, this is East-West direction, purely human creation. So you don't think that East is what? Where from? The Sun we see first in the morning, that is the East. And if somebody thinks that we are seeing the sinking Sun, that would be the East for them. From wherever they can see the rising Sun, that is the East. So for the sake of activity, communication, you go to the left, you go to the right, you go this northern side, and front side, back side, above first floor, second floor, or go to the basement, etc. is all for the sake of what you call Yavaharika. And for transaction purpose. If we understood this much, everything has a place. We require Bhoomi. What is Bhoomi? When our mind stays on the lowest plane of consciousness, we get, derive what we call the earthly happiness. If any chance, the mind goes down, further and further down, then we go to the Patala Loka. And there we suffer a great deal, either now or later on, as the inevitable result of our karma phala. And the persons who live in a higher thought level, they are living in what we call Swarga Loka or Satya Loka, or whatever it is. Mystical way, if we interpret it, it eats it, its meaning. In any case, even in our practical world also, some people or their thinkers, they get the highest jobs. Some people are living in the middle class, what is called upper class, middle class, and lower class. Imagine. And this is the more or less ideational concept. But everything has come from Him. Whether a person is in Patala or on Bhuloka, on the upper seven worlds, it doesn't really matter. Everybody is living in God only because Patala also is God. That is why the Puranic story, how Bali Chakravarthi, what did he do? Knowing fully well that God has come to beg him so that he can deprive him, then he said that you take it, all the three feet. And the Lord occupied everything by His two feet. And then he said, where do I keep my another foot of land? Bali had no option but to say that you put your foot on my head. What does it mean? Let Bhagawan be always on my head, in my head. Then what happens to that person? So Bhagawan pushed him to Patala. This is the Puranic story. What does Patala represent in this case? That means, Oh Bali, you have given Bali of yourself. You do not exist anymore. I absorb you. And this fact is being conveyed by the Purana. You know in what way? Bhagavatam. You know in what way? Bhagawan Vishnu became the watchman of Bali Chakravarti. I will be protecting you all the time. You surrender yourself to Him. That means you don't exist. A baby surrenders totally. Whatever the mother or father or elders want to do, a baby completely surrenders itself. It doesn't show even the slightest resistance. Stubbornness is not there. If you ever watched a kitten being carried or the young one of a tigress is carrying in her wear, in her mouth, and what is that mouth? Ferocious, Dhamstra, Karalani, Te Mukhani. Terrible fangs are there. But does it hurt the baby? Absolutely no. A buffalo's neck will be crushed with one blow of that teeth. So much power is there. But the same power is so gently applied. And what does the baby do? It hangs. I have seen it. Like a U. Completely hanging. Four feet are hanging. Only the back is in the mouth. Everything else is hanging. It doesn't put up resistance. Mother doesn't put the resistance. So what happened in this case? Bali Chakra Vartim. Bali means He offered Himself. Bali means Sharanagati. When the Sharanagati came, God took over everything. I will protect you from now onwards. And Krishna planted His feet on Kaliya. Do not fear. You go anywhere you want. What about Garuda? Garuda is my greatest devotee. And when He comes nearer to you, what does He see? Not near. Garuda's sight is terrible sight. Even from two miles above, it can see clearly. Oh, my Ishta Devatas, my Ishta Devatas, Vishnu's feet are here. And He will salute you, do Pradakshina to you, and go away. This is the Antarartha. Every story has to be thought like that only. So the Lord just thought about it. From Him only came all the worlds. First, creation. First, seasons. Then, all the materials. Then, all the people, including Gods, etc. Then, human beings. Then, appropriate worlds. According to their Karmaphala, everything has been created by Him. Creation is nothing but self-manifestation of Bhagawan. This is how we have to understand. And after understanding, what should we do? The only message that comes is, only one message, O man, take refuge in God. Surrender yourself to God. And what happens? That is being beautifully described again in the 16th part of this Purusha Sutta. What is it? Vedaham etam purusham mahantam Aditya varnam tam sastu pare sarvani roopani vichitya dhirah namani krutva abhivadan yath aste So, I know that Purusha. Vedaham. Aham. Veda. I know. Whom do you know? Etam purusham. I know this Purusha. This Virat Purusha. What Virat? Mahantam. Infinite. Greatest. And Aditya varnam. And Aditya. Not one Aditya. It is said in our Puranas, and which is absolute fact, Ananta Koti Brahmanda. How many? Infinite number of worlds, like our Earth. And every Earth has got its own Sun, its own Moon, its own stars. Even if you read one page about the astronomy, you will understand how huge, unimaginably huge is this cosmos. How many billions and billions and billions of cosmoses are there. Each cosmos contains what we call an entire, even our own cosmos is so big that we have not even discovered billions of stars that are there. And then each cosmos contains billions of galaxies. Each galaxy contains billions and billions of Earth-like things, stars, etc. Of those things, our Earth is the smallest. If you see a map of these things drawn by the astronomers, the Earth, if at all it is there, represented by a single smallest dot, which is very difficult. If the whole Earth is that dot, Sir, where is India? Where is Kashi? Where am I? But our Ahamkara covers up everything. How Aham Brahmasmi when we say the whole even Brahman is covered up in my mind. That is why Ramakrishna makes fun that a devotee is far greater because the whole world is kept inside Bhagawan. And such a great, huge Bhagawan, unimaginably great Bhagawan is kept in the smallest heart of a bhakta. Who is great? A bhakta is very, very great. These marvellous ideas are meant only for one thing. We must know that Being. Once we know that Being, what happens? We become completely free. And there would be no ignorance. I realised. And what did I realise? I realised that Purusha. I realised whatever I experience is none other than Brahman only. These beautiful ideas, again we will explore in our next class.
