OM JANANIM SHARADAM DEVIM RAMAKRISHNAM JAGAD GURUM PADHA PADME TAYO SHRITVA PRANAM AMI MOHO RUMOHO So in our last class, practically we devoted the whole class how we create our own body according to our past karma. Past karma is because of the thoughts, sanskaras. So this life also, if we have some body and we do not like that body or it is creating some extra problems for our further progress, especially in spiritual life then we are squarely responsible but the message is that the body doesn't control us. We can remove, we can improve but perhaps for this life we have to do the best. That is why there is a marvelous saying SHERERAM AADHYAM KHALU DHARMA SADHANAM whether it is healthy body, unhealthy body but we can really make progress in spiritual life provided we take the Sankalpa, make the Sankalpa. Sankalpa is a promise to God that O Lord, I will do what is best even though I cannot undo the past but I will strive, by your grace I will be able to come near you. So nobody need to be discouraged. Everybody teaches us a great lesson and not to bother too much about how I look but to sincerely progress towards God. And again and again I want to clarify a point. Many people think spiritual life is for particular type of people and there is a misconception that it is for elderly people those who have nothing to do only after all the teeth have fallen down. Vedanta they call it in Bengali. Tanta and Vedanta. Then only one should turn to spiritual life. Nothing could be further from truth unless we start at an early age it will be very difficult to do anything good or bad in old age because Sarvendriyanam Jarayanti Tejaha but Shri Ramakrishna cautions us that we have to deal with our own particular body particular individuality particular samskaras others are there in fact to either exhaust or to help our karma. Everybody, every object every environment every situation as I mentioned many times is tailor made for what purpose? Forever further progress in spiritual life. Now we will continue with the Kathamruta. Shri Ramakrishna was talking to Kali the divine mother of the universe. Whether Shri Ramakrishna talks to people directly who is talking? Mother Kali is only talking. Very interesting statement here. Shri Ramakrishna has two personalities. One is a child who says I know nothing only my mother knows. Another personality she is the divine mother. Whenever Shri Ramakrishna is talking about high spiritual things he used to say I know nothing I eat and make merry but my mother is talking if it is helpful to you you have to thank her not me. I am just a mere instrument. So Shri Ramakrishna was talking to Mother Kali the divine mother of the universe. What is he talking about? He said Mother everyone says my watch alone is right. The Christians, the Brahmos, the Hindus, the Muslims all say my religion alone is true. But we have to interpret this statement broadly not only what does it mean my watch alone is right my opinion, my understanding alone is right. Everybody's understanding everybody else's understanding is either not right or at best partially right. And with regard not only to religion to everything in this world. That is why there is a saying that if you happen to visit a barber shop then barber is so wise while shaving you he will bring all world problems and he says if I were the person then I would have solved the whole thing in a trace and he might cut you also at that moment you have to be very careful. So this is barber shop talk that means meaningless talk time pass talk it is the Divine Mother who is running. I want to emphasize this point very strongly. Open your eyes I am sure most of us are watching the news what is happening between Russia and Ukraine and who is the aggressor I won't go into the details but who is the victim who is the perpetrator and whether it is Dharmic, Adharmic right, wrong and wishing mentally somebody would kill somebody and then problem will be solved not knowing the whole thing is the play the script written by the Divine Mother and it will go exactly in the same way if X, Y, Z are not there some other X, Y, Z's will be replaced these are all mere pawns that is what Bhagwan Krishna tells to us I play like pieces on a chess board who is the player, God who is the opponent, God who are all the pieces don't jump to the answer it is only He there is nobody else just as in our dream anyway Sri Ram Krishna is talking and talking very high sense what is it that it is a sure sign of Ahankara anybody who thinks I am right it is a sure sign of Ahankara that is why Sri Ram Krishna says that everybody's watch is wrong only the Sun is absolutely right that is to say God alone knows what is the truth at best we have to be humble and say whatever little understanding God has given and that alone makes me think, understand, act, react, etc. so Mother, everyone says my watch alone is right my opinion alone is right my understanding alone is right the Christians, the Brahmins, the Hindus the Muslims all say my religion alone is true why did he mention Hindus because we have been talking about Hindus are the most liberal people in the world in fact I would say the most quarrelsome people in the world are Hindus Hindus means let me tell you an American journalist had visited India for 20 days and he completed his tour he visited most parts of India and when he was going back some Indian journalist interviewed him you must have met a lot of Indians the man said I did not meet a single Indian the Indian journalist was shocked you mean to say you did not meet one Indian he said no whom did you meet well, I met a Bengali I met a UPwala I met an Andhrawala I met a Tamilian I met a Keralian but nobody said I am an Indian so when we say I am a Hindu how many sects are there I am a Vaishnava I am a Shaivite I am a Shakta I am a Ganapatiya I am a Sabarimalai Swami devotee everybody thinks he is right his God is the Supreme which is absolutely right but what is wrong my God is Supreme is an inadequate statement my God is Supreme but my God also is manifesting same God as Rama, Krishna, Jesus, Buddha or with any particular name without name with form without form this is what Sri Ramakrishna wants to convey but mother, Ramakrishna continues the fact is that nobody's watch is right who can truly understand Thee but if a man prays to Thee with a yearning heart he can reach Thee through Thy grace by any path mother, show me sometime how the Christians pray to Thee in their churches but mother, what will people say if I go in suppose they make a fuss suppose they don't allow me to enter the Kali temple again well then, show me the Christian worship from the door of the church this statement of Sri Ramakrishna it shows tremendous amount of social situation that was prevailing at the time of his living so if he was a Brahmana and if he enters into a Christian church most people would not even admit him allow him to enter into the temple itself Sri Ramakrishna who awakened the Divine Mother who made the temple a living deity and a great place of pilgrimage such a person will not be allowed such is the superstitious lot of priests everywhere a priest is everywhere the most terrible enemy of true religion that is why I make fun of them in normal language we call him Pujari if you understand a bit of Sanskrit Ari means enemy Pujari means enemy of God, enemy of Pooja enemy of the temple, enemy of Hinduism enemy of anyism who crucified Jesus Christ, only the priests other priests, Rabbis, they are called Rabbis and who wanted to kill Bhagwan Buddha is only again priests and who persecuted so many of these Hindu saints and sages it is the priests because they think anybody who reduces their income their power, their name and fame in society are the arch enemies they will not allow that is why I will just remind you there is a beautiful temple in Udipi dedicated to Bhagwan Krishna there was a low caste devotee and he was not allowed to come in so he sat outside and the deity was facing the east Bhagwan Krishna was facing the east only upper caste Hindus were allowed but this sincere devotee with great difficulty he took a few days leave from his slave master to whom he was working like a slave and then he prayed Oh Lord, why am I deprived of your vision? and that prayer moved Bhagwan Krishna so much immediately the whole temple as if it broke from the southern side the whole image turned towards the southern side and even today that is the door where the priests were forced to use it and the devotee had wonderful vision marvellous incident but how many priests even today adhere to this rule so how many priests have sold valuable artefacts to foreigners at a cheap rate Indians as they say they will sell their own mother if they can get a little bit of money such a degraded state and yet priding ourselves that is why Sri Ramakrishna is telling before Sri Ramakrishna's avatar Vaishnavas were degrading the Shaktas Shaktas were degrading the Vaishnavas both of them were degrading Shiva so much quarrel is going on but Sri Ramakrishna came and upheld the truth that there is only one God but Hinduism is the only religion which says that I can dictate to God and say to Him that I have a right to worship you to think of you to meditate upon you I please that which gives me happiness with what name I want to talk to you I want to call upon you I have the right with what form I want to meditate upon you I have the right and in what way I want to worship you I have the right this is called Ishta Devata Siddhanta Ishta means I will dictate to you in what form I want and there are funny incidents also when God wants to come in one particular form which is not desirable to this devotee He will simply throw him out and there is an instance South Indian Bhagavatars they recount the story Rama was about to bring to an end his Rama Avatar and so he called Hanuman and said Hanuman tomorrow I am going to go back to Vaikuntha and you come with me and Rama announced to all the citizens whoever wants to enter into Vaikuntha tomorrow I will take all of you with me and most of them I think all of them have gone to the Sarayu river Rama asked them now you just dip yourself in the Sarayu river and they found themselves in Vaikuntha so this Hanuman was asked Hanuman as we know is one of the greatest devotee not great devotee greatest devotee of Bhagavan Rama so he made a Sastang Pranam and South Indians are famous for doing Sastang Pranams and then he said no I will not come with you Rama was shocked what Hanuman you don't want to come with me another Sastang Pranam no I don't want to go with you then Rama as if in surprise asked why don't you want to come with me to Vaikuntha and Hanuman replied Sir you go to Vaikuntha in Vaikuntha what dress will you be putting on here only two hands there will be four hands and here only the bow and arrows and there will be Shankha, Chakra, Gadha, Padma and your Kirita will be different not only that the most undesirable thing is there who will be your wife Mahalakshmi no I love Sita Devi I want to meditate upon her so you better go I will live here will you not miss me no no I will never miss you because I am going to meditate upon you in my heart all the time now that is even better than without you because you are sending me here and there and I cannot do so many things now I can sit alone you be happy in Vaikuntha let me be happy in Bhuloka this is the kind of funny situation but what is the essence what is the point to take out Ishta Devata Siddhanta Sri Nadhe Janaki Nadhe Abhedaha Paramatmani Tathapi Mama Sarvasvaha Ramaha Kamalalochanaha so here Sri Ramakrishna said I want to see how Christians pray to Thee in their churches how many other religionists dare to tell that whom we are worshipping as God as either Jesus or God Father in Heaven that is the same Divine Mother which Hindus worship with various names whom Buddhists worship as Nirvana as Buddha whom Muslims worship as Allah how many religions dare to speak like that Hinduism is so liberal and that is their greatest blessing and that is their greatest curse because this is what divides people into so many sects so Sri Ramakrishna is even in that state he is highly aware I cannot live without entering into your temple I cannot live without thinking about you because you are My Ishta Devata so he is telling but Mother what will people say if I go in suppose they make a fuss suppose they don't allow me to enter the holy temple again so I cannot do without that well then show me the Christian worship from the door of the church he could as well have asked show me right now and I will go to the give me a YouTube password I will go and see how Christians worship you and that is what we are doing then Sri Ramakrishna turns the goal of human life is to love God this is a marvellous sentence and many times people say I don't believe in God yes we have to substitute the word God with some other word which will not be denied by anybody even an atheist will not believe do you want a long life that is a deathless life yes sure if it is possible do you want a healthy life sure do you want to be always all knowing sure then do you want to be always very happy unbroken happiness yes that is what God stands for Sat, Chit and Ananda as I mentioned many times that is the essence of man has got only one desire I want to become Brahman and Brahman is described in three words and these three words provoke three types of prayers Asatoma Sadgamaya let me be Sat Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya let me be Chit and Mrutyorma Amrutangamaya may I be a child of immortality enjoying the divine bliss Ananda Swaroopa so that is what Ramakrishna means that not only the goal of human life is God but it is inevitable because every seed inevitably becomes its own kind that was what Swami Vivekananda had categorically declared each soul is potentially divine and Bhakti is the one essential thing Bhakti means intense love intense love means intense joy intense concentration and intense remembrance to know God through Jnana and especially through reasoning is extremely difficult then the master sang oh mind if you are thinking because you think you are intelligent intelligence is always measured in the form of reasoning power and if you think that you can attain God understand God even speak properly about God through reasoning you are sorely mistaken so the master many times his teachings came in the form of songs who is there that can understand what Mother Kali is Kali Kamun Shraddh Darshane Na Pai Darshan that is the Bengali title after singing the master said again the one goal of life is to cultivate love for God the love that the milkmaids the milkmen and the cowherd boys of Vrindavan felt for Krishna when Krishna went away to Mathura the cowherds roamed about weeping bitterly because of their separation from Him saying this the master sang with his eyes turned upward we have to keep in mind whenever the Ramakrishna sang he doesn't sing like us when we sing we are highly conscious who is listening, who is appreciating whether everything is coming out well or not we are terribly aware of our body and more than that everybody else but when Sri Ramakrishna used to sing it is more or less you can say like bathroom crony that is why bathroom crony everybody's voice will be very pleasant because they won't be singing for others they will be singing only for themselves and whatever is sung for oneself is always sung with absorption with joy in fact a sound comes out only when there is joy when Krishna went away to Mathura he talked about weeping bitterly because they loved him they cannot forget him saying this the master sang with his eyes turned upward just now I saw a youthful cowherd with a young calf in his arms there he stood by one hand holding the branch of a young tree where are you brother Kanai he cried but Kanai scarcely could he utter Ka was as much as he could say he cried where are you brother and his eyes were filled with tears when M heard this song of the master's laden with love his eyes were moist with tears you know when Sri Ramakrishna used to sing nobody can withhold tears from his eyes because Sri Ramakrishna used to convey the power of his emotion his feeling to others also those who are near Sri Ramakrishna when he used to sing he used to feel the 100% Bhava that is why he used to enter into Bhava Vastha and whenever anybody sings anybody creates a poem anybody cooks absorbed in that idea anybody does whatever he does it has tremendous influence upon other people in modern psychological language this is called Authenticity Authentic means the person he is absorbed in himself there is no dichotomy there, there is no split personality other than that we are all split personalities, whatever we do am I cooking well suppose you cook something well and your husband is eating, absorbed in something, he is not making any remarks and then you are terribly disappointed I took so much trouble this man doesn't utter a single word and then they themselves ask how is the curry oh oh yes yes very nice, very nice but you are disappointed because it is what is called a social answer you think like that even if he is authentically telling you won't believe him so that is because we are split personalities but when Sri Ram Krishna used to do anything he used to be absorbed in it and the only parallel I can give you is a child observe a child he is sleeping, he is sleeping and he is playing he is playing, he is eating he is eating whatever he does there is no artificiality there and that is why when a child laughs really he laughs when a child weeps really weeps and when we see somebody else weeping we feel like weeping why is this fellow such a hypocrite you see when we accompany some dead body to the crematorium our face we are trying to make it as sorrowful as possible hardly succeeding and then say oh we are so devastated we are so sorry oh such a grand person and if the other person is noticing you he notices that you are looking at your watch again and again why is this damned thing taking such a long time you see this is what I call split personality we are not one person, we are many persons that is why we are not authentic persons that is why Paramahamsas always keep the children why? because they know what is called a child authenticity is the first name of a child that is whatever they do that is their natural expression but slowly the children also they watch us and then they also develop into split personalities and then how much damage we are doing God alone knows about it ok now with this the second chapter in the company of devotees is over now in that there is a last portion is there April 2, 1882 Master's visit to Keshav Sri Ram Krishna was sitting in the drawing room of Keshav Chandra Sen's house in Calcutta it was 5 o'clock in the afternoon when Keshav was told of his arrival, he came to the drawing room dressed to go out for he was about to call on a Sikh friend now he cancelled his plan the Master said to him you have so many things to attend to besides you have to edit a newspaper you have no time to come to Dakshineswar so I have come to see you what a marvelous thing if mountain cannot come to Mohammed as they say Mohammed has to go to the mountain that means if we don't have time to go to God God himself will come to us you may be wondering what is this Swami talking about how does God come well, most of the time he will come in the form of a big blow whenever we have a big blow who is coming to visit us it is God, he is reminding us again and again oh my child I have been waiting for you but you have totally forgotten when do we remember God most only when a blow comes we remember God while eating first class strawberry ice cream how many times did you remember God, very little so Sri Ramakrishna was explaining and I have to tell you something here one of the greatest instruments wielded by the Divine Mother in the mission of Sri Ramakrishna or an Avatar is to bring some helpers and Keshav Chandra Sir, I firmly believe was one of those instruments to he had a particular role to fulfill in the mission of the Divine Mother what was the role just imagine without Keshav Chandra Sir probably, I don't think it is, it is just an imagination that nobody or hardly anybody would have known Sri Ramakrishna but you know what happened by Mother's will Sri Ramakrishna heard about Keshav Chandra Sir, in those days he was the most popular speaker and he was a great man, he used to be absorbed in himself I will tell you the details also but it was inevitable Sri Ramakrishna had to meet Keshav Chandra Sir and why, because Keshav Chandra Sir had to play the part of introducing Sri Ramakrishna to the modern society especially the educational sector of the society Sri Ramakrishna's life we can divide into two main divisions one, before Sri Ramakrishna came into contact with Keshav Chandra Sir Sri Ramakrishna was completely absorbed for about 12 years in practicing three main disciplines, following three main pathways and one was called the Pauranic way or the Bhakti Marga Vaishnava Sadhanas Shanta, Dasya Sakhya, Vatsalya and Mathura and the second that is called the Tantric way, that is the Tantric way of advancing towards spiritual life where there are mantras, yantras tantras etc. So Bhairavi Brahmani helped Sri Ramakrishna perfect himself in what we call Pauranic Sadhanas or Vaishnava Sadhanas as well as Tantric Sadhanas and there is another important branch of spiritual path that is called Vedanta and Vedanta doesn't mean only Advaita Vedanta there are, Dwaitins are there Vedanta can be divided into broadly two categories the Dwaita schools and the Advaita schools Dwaitins, the dualists whether they are of Mathura followers or followers of Ramanuja they only accept the Saguna Brahma God as a person not as we understand a person but an infinite person called Vishnu or Shiva or Shakti all of them are Dwaitins only but at the same time you may be surprised saying that Tantric system is different from the Pauranic system. No in Pau Purana there are worshippers of what we call Lakshmi Saraswati etc that doesn't really fall under Tantrica system of Sadhana so to think, consider Divine Mother as the Creatrix, Matrix and the Maintainer and then Dissoluter this concept is there in Tantras in Puranas also so what is called South Indian Vaishnavism they call it Sri Vaishnavism. Sri means Lakshmi whereas the North Indian is called Vaishnavism but they bring in Radha as the Shakti of the Divine Mother so Tantric practices with Bijya Mantras they have their own special type of worship special type of Sadhana Ram Krishna perfected himself then all the Advaitins they are devotees not Gnanis devotees Gnanam is there only to reveal to them who is God who am I, what is our relationship God is the whole either I am a part or I am a created being these are called dualistic schools whereas the Advaita says there is no such division the supreme reality is beyond the speech beyond the mind and the only way most of them exceptions are there is a Gnanamarga that is the path of knowledge that is to say the whole world is to be denied and Brahman alone is to be emphasized this is the way these people emphasize but by the Divine Mother's will Totapuri Maharaj was brought Sri Ram Krishna practiced Vedanta and look at this drama that had taken place Bhairavi Brahmani who was the Guru of Sri Ram Krishna who successfully made him complete the Pauranic Sadhanas the Tantric Sadhanas she did not understand she was also prejudiced and she prevented she advised Sri Ram Krishna my child you will lose your devotion if you practice Advaita Sadhana not knowing that God is with form God is without form God is also beyond both form and formlessness but Sri Ram Krishna while having absolute devotion to his Gurus but he only took guidance from the Divine Mother from the very beginning that was his Sadhana Oh Mother, I am a fool I do not know what is right, what is wrong I am like a child you make me do what you want me to speak to think, to do and Mother did everything and this is what Swami Sharada wanted to point out even though we should never miss that statement why was God born this time he says as Krishna Bhagwan Krishna in his previous incarnation he promised Ananyas Chintayantamam Ejanah Pariyupasate Tesham Nityabhi Uktanam Yogakshemam Vahamyaham when a person totally dedicates himself to me surrenders himself to me doesn't know anything other than me I will do whatever is necessary for him not only physically physically, intellectually spiritually, morally in every way God will take care of me just as a mother takes care of everything of the baby and humanity has forgotten that promise they thought it is just a word but really speaking it is a hyperbole, there is no meaning in it, man lost faith and to re-establish that it is not mere word, it is absolute truth to prove that one God has incarnated Krishna has reincarnated again in the form of Sri Ram Krishna to tell us it is not empty word every syllable of it is absolute right and for that purpose at the beginning Sri Ram Krishna had no Guru no scripture, no teaching excepting intense yearning and intense prayer and intense surrender to the Divine Mother so he completed his sadhanas that was the first part of his life the second part would be that he must come into contact, so it is written as soon as Sri Ram Krishna completed or became perfect in any one of the sadhanas hundreds of sincere devotees aspirants, spiritual seekers following that particular pathway used to be attracted and come to Dakshineshwar they did not know why they were attracted but here is the answer, their very sincerity albeit unknown to us brought them to Dakshineshwar so that if there are any obstacles in their path this new master who had just traversed that path, he knows the dangers, he knows the obstacles like a mountain guide mountaineer guide he knows which path should be avoided, whether there is a shortcut, everything he knows, every inch of the way he knows so Sri Ram Krishna knows he used to help them, they used to be perfect in their own ways or they used to be helped greatly they used more than anything else like Gurukula they used to be totally inspired by the very presence of Sri Ram Krishna and then they used to move forward, going away but albeit when they went away they used to carry that ancient Hindu message that God is one but many are the paths and their narrowness used to be diluted or I would say destroyed whoever was fortunate to Sri Ram Krishna, he had to bow down his head, get rid of that notion that mine is the only path and then he has to realize there are many paths to the same truth even though it is not given to most of us to traverse more than one path but Sri Ram Krishna effortlessly he climbed the same Mount Everest in infinite number of ways many times and he knows every inch of the way from every angle he can help anybody who wants to climb here Mount Everest symbolizing God realization and then he categorically declared that there is no conflict whom dualists call as Saguna Brahma, it is the same truth who is called by Gnanis as Nirguna Brahma and he who is mistakenly emphasized as the only truth Saguna Brahma is Maya I have heard even now that teaching is going round how wrong these people they do not know it is the Saguna Brahma is part of Maya and that one who reaches Saguna Brahma he will not get Mukti as if these people knew what is Mukti as if they can dictate to Saguna Brahma you Saguna Brahma you have no right to give Mukti to anybody because you yourself are totally useless enmeshed in Maya Sri Ram Krishna debunked all these misconceptions and said he who is Nirguna Brahma is Saguna Brahma he who is Saguna Brahma is Nirguna Brahma whether it people worship Saguna Brahma or Nirguna Brahma in whatever form with whatever name the only criteria is sincerity if people are sincere definitely Saguna Brahma is none other than Nirguna Brahma he can confer the highest because even these very people agree in Vedanta Saguna Brahma is called Ishwara now when we ask them is this your Ishwara whom you call Ishwara is he under the spell of Maya or is he beyond Maya and they willy nilly they admit Ishwara is beyond Maya and who is beyond Maya only Nirguna Brahma can be beyond Maya Saguna Brahma means with Maya is Saguna Brahma is he capable of giving Mukti or not nobody perhaps asked that question but they are all Upasakas they should know better than anybody whether they worship Shiva or Saraswati and they are not ready so arrogant that they know and they say we are Jagadgurus idiots do not know what they are doing and they think that they are Jagadgurus who is a Jagadguru a person who can help anybody is a Jagadguru even if an atheist comes Sri Ram Krishna can help Swami Vivekananda can help I am reminding you of an incident once Swami Vivekananda was wandering before he was going to the west in Rajasthan and there he came across a very sincere devotee and he was a follower of Arya Samaj and Arya Samaj was established by Swami Dayananda Saraswati and he used to say all this image worship and all these things are nonsense but these Arya Samajists are famous for performing Yajnas, Yagas and all those things but they condemn worship in the temples etc so there was this Arya Samajist and they have been taught from the very beginning that all these God with form is all false but he was a very sincere person and more important than that he was very fortunate to come into contact with Swami Vivekananda who was a Brahma Jnani, Rishi who is a Brahma Jnani he who realized Brahman is a Brahma Jnani and what do the scriptures say about such person Brahma with Brahma Yeva Bhavati Brahma Jnani is not an intellectual knower of Brahman a Brahma Jnani is none other than Brahman because that is what he says Aham Brahmasmi and he is not telling like us so they used to have talks and there used to be arguments and one day Swami Vivekananda and this man they were going together having a walk suddenly they saw some devotees were taking Shri Krishna, Bhagawan Krishna in a chariot, in a carriage and with all music etc etc and Swamiji's grace descended upon this man and this man probably he must be smirking like Totapuri smirked at Shri Ram Krishna these are all ignorant people that is why I know I am much more superior than these people Swami Vivekananda himself was like that remember when he came to Shri Ram Krishna he did not believe in images etc not because he was a fanatic because he has to be a Jagat Guru on behalf of Shri Ram Krishna so there was a stage when Swamiji had to go through even atheism skepticism agnosticism disbelief in God etc but he understood whatever be the ism that doesn't matter the only criteria as I said are you sincere do you want to manifest your inner potentiality do you want to make your life meaningful then the only way is spirituality, what is spirituality making life meaningful and full of joy and that is where nobody will differ, nobody will controvert, so every path if a person is sincere Shraddha, he will reach the goal, but Shraddha is important, that is the only qualification, everything else is secondary, what you believe what a person doesn't believe it doesn't make any difference why, because I am telling you the psychology what is Shraddha, Shraddha is that deep faith which sits on our heads and doesn't allow us to do what we like to do doesn't allow us to think what we like to think, it will make me think what it wants us to think it will make me speak what it wants me to speak and it will make me do what it wants me to do, in other words none other than Divine Mother so this man was possessed of Shraddha it doesn't matter what he thinks what he behaves the grace of God in the form of Swami Vivekananda descended upon this man and Swamiji got this opportunity, he merely touched him and said, look and this man looked and then he saw Bhagavan Krishna, Swayam he was sitting there, he had that vision, then he understood, he fell at the feet of Swami Vivekananda and said Swami, but for you, I would have remained as a blind fellow I don't know for how many lives, what good fortune good punyam I have done in my previous life, but it became fructified in the form of your grace, now I know so this fanaticism God is with form he cannot be without form he can be with form only or all these have been removed completely by Shri Ram Krishna a person who can help even a sincere atheist he alone is entitled to be called a Jagadguru, not anybody else so that is what we find in this Keshav Chandra Sen so just as Shri Ram Krishna completed his mission helped so many orthodox people travelling in that path now is the time to establish Dharma all over the world for that he brought Swami Vivekananda and for that purpose there must be the name of Shri Ram Krishna at that time people were thinking there was a madcap and there was a kind of peculiarly behaving person very few people knew about this great man who is like a ripe fruit or ripe mango tree with millions of sweet mangoes waiting to be given to the whole world, quench the thirst, the hunger of everybody but there must be also Divine Mother's plan there must be an organization and this is where an individual can do something but very little because an individual is severely limited whereas an organization is necessary anything, any work in a better way larger way can be done only through an organization and that was the mission of Swami Vivekananda but before even Swami Vivekananda came this Keshav Chandra Sen was blessed by the Divine Mother and he became one of the greatest speakers and when he used to speak he used to be absorbed he believed in what he spoke and his fate took him to England and he met even Queen Victoria and everybody appreciated it not that they appreciated Hinduism but they appreciated Keshav Chandra Sen's admiration of Christianity but they understood there is something in his person which is very rarely to be found in other persons an integrity, integrated personality, what psychologists call an integrated personality a trustworthy personality or in simple words a gentleman they found him guileless, completely absorbed in himself and he joined the Brahma Samad that was established by Raja Ram Mohan Rai for the enlightenment then slowly it came to Maharshi Devendranath Tagore, the father of Devendranath Tagore and at that time Devendranath Tagore came into contact with this Keshav Chandra Sen and Keshav immediately the Maharshi he had recognized here is a man, if at all anybody can take my place but in course of time the narrow mindedness of these even these people had palled Keshav Chandra Sen he had broken away from them and then he established his own what is called a branch of the Brahma Samad and at that time Keshav Chandra Sen really believed that meditation is the only way but remember even though we are condemning all these like Theosophical sect or Brahma Samad or like Prarthana Samad hundreds of religious sects had come at that time but important point is they all did some good but they did not understand that we are just mere small cogs in this huge missionary that is to be established by this latest incarnation of God they helped some people but then they had very narrow minds at that time this what Keshav Chandra Sen called Navavidhan that was the sect established he broke away with many of them because of the greatness of Keshav Chandra Sen people like Vijayakrishna Goswami and what is called Majumdar Pratap Chandra Majumdar Pandit Shivanath Shastri etc they all joined together great people in their own way but nothing to be compared at all and they had tremendous impact which was needed they were the forerunners of the future Ramakrishna mission let me complete this bit Ramakrishna's life can be divided into three parts first part is you prove to the whole world through your own sadhana that every pathway that was mentioned in Hinduism in Christianity in Islam every religion in other words and something beyond religion also absolutely a pathway God exists God can be realized second help all the orthodox people who were narrow minded who were nevertheless following their own sects and Ramakrishna helped them because they were all apt fit persons to be helped but Ramakrishna's mission is only very small mission in comparison with this second type his third greatest mission is to establish the future Ramakrishna mission and for that he had to widely spread out his message and that message can be done only through an apt instrument that instrument happened to be Swami Vivekananda happened to be a member of the Brahma Samaj so it is not that merely he was a member but even Keshav Chandra Sen the leader we cannot say the same thing but there were some people Keshav Chandra Sen was one of them Vijaya Krishna Goswami was another one of them but the main important thing is to spread the ancient message of Sanatana Dharma and for that these young people who were well educated in English language had to be brought to the forefront and they were deeply influenced at that time by Keshav Chandra Sen's Brahma Samaj even though there was a split there and Sri Ramakrishna had to spread his message through the Keshav Chandra Sen and they became very friends and then through Keshav Chandra Sen was so much brainwashed by Sri Ramakrishna's ideas he started preaching them indirectly in fact I would go so far as to say Keshav Chandra Sen was preaching only Sri Ramakrishna's ideas he was illustrating the illustrations given by Sri Ramakrishna he was teaching the teachings that he heard from Sri Ramakrishna he was printing in his journals all about Sri Ramakrishna the whole Calcutta public other people in India they heard they came to know and they started visiting Dakshineswar temple but the main purpose is to attract people like Narayana Dutta and this future Swami Brahmananda Rakal Chandra Ghosh and Taraknath Ghoshal etc and that is why the history of Keshav Chandra Sen has been so much entwined in the life of Sri Ramakrishna and this is one of the visits but in my next class I will tell you a few more details about it before we proceed further because many of these conversations are actually in the form of this with Keshav Chandra Sen or his followers etc and he played a very important role in the mission of Ramakrishna and his mission Om Jananim Sharadam Devim Ramakrishnam Jagadgurum Pada Padmet Ayo Sritva Pranamami Mohrmoho May Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and
