Om Jananim Sharadam Devim Ramakrishnam Jagadgurum Aadha Padme Tayo Shritva Pranamami Mohor Moho In our last class we have been talking about Nama Shakti It's not merely the power of God's name Our relationship with God That's what makes all of us so near to God Why? Because who is God? He is our Father Tvameva Mataacha Pita Tvameva Tvameva Bandhuscha Sakha Tvameva Tvameva Vidyaa Dravinam Tvameva Tvameva Sarvam Mama Veena Bandho Everything is God only There is nothing other than God The highest reality That means the only reality, only Sathya is God And from the Bhakti point of view We are all children of God We are children Not only in the sense of God has become us But our knowledge, our wisdom, our power Everything is totally limited And that's why Ramakrishna is confirming God is our Father and Mother Tell Him, O Lord, I have committed sins But I won't repeat them Chant His name and purify your body and mind Purify your tongue by singing God's holy name There is no doubt about the sanctity of God's name This was what Ramakrishna has been telling us So the power of God's name is tremendous It purifies the body, purifies the mind, purifies the tongue Tongue is one of the most powerful sense organs In fact it is a double sense organ It not only acts as the medium of speaking But it is Rasa Nendriya It is one of the most powerful sense organs It is said in a popular saying Jeete Rasam Jeetam Sarvam Rasa means here this organ of tongue, taste Once a person conquers taste He conquers everything in this world So we have to control it We make it polluted By not only speaking something wrong, immoral, impure But by eating, pushing so many things Cramming our stomach with all sorts of impure things From the Hindu point of view Whatever is not offered to God Whatever is not taken as Prasada That pollutes the body, the mind, the tongue, everything God's name has so much of power Even every word has a power We do not realize how powerful But I will just give you small examples If someone calls you by a very sweet name Immediately emotionally we are upset Of course I should not use the word upset When we hear something nice we become elated But that is called upsetting That is to say from our tranquil state of mind We become extremely hesitated Maybe in a positive manner If somebody says you are a rogue See the power of the word We know that we have not done anything wrong But we feel that other people are insulting me So much it touches our egotism Words have the power to make a person live To make a person die Words can kill, words can restore Remember that a disciple went to a guru This disciple was on the verge of almost committing suicide And he heard Sri Ramakrishna's words Sri Ramakrishna did not even address this gentleman But this gentleman heard And immediately he became Amrutaputra That was what Swami Vivekananda had blessed the whole of American people Shunvantu Vishwe Amrutasya Putra That was one of the greatest initiations What is initiation? That which takes us to God That which makes us remember our true nature And that is called initiation Mantra It just makes us survive, saves us etc So here is something so wonderful Sri Ramakrishna is telling The name of God is so purifying So powerful And so helpful But then he says That there is no doubt about the sanctity of God's name But can a mere name achieve anything without the yearning love of the devotee behind it? One should feel great restlessness of soul for the vision of God Chant the name of God And with it pray to Him That you may have love for Him Love, that is what really counts The same name without love And same name with love Makes a difference between death and life Sri Ramakrishna is only representative of all the sages, saints all over the world The name of God has been praised everywhere In fact Mandukya Upanishad equates the name of God with God In the very first mantra it says Om Ityeta Daksharam Idam Sarvam The whole world that we experience World means not only what we experience in the waking state But in dream state, in dreamless state Deep sleep state All the three worlds What was in the past, present and future Everything is Omkara And in the second he says This everything that we experience is nothing but Brahman Then he says that Brahman is nothing but you You are that Brahman So Omkara is everything And you are, Brahman is everything Omkara and Brahman is one and the same thing And you are Brahman Therefore you are Omkara There is no difference between Omkara and Brahman Omkara and you Omkara and the world So I, world, Brahman Everything is exactly the same thing What a marvellous truth Nama, Namni The name and the named Are two sides of the same string You pull either side And the other side is bound to come Even I have to say It is like the two sides of a coin Even though God's name is very powerful We have to understand something We have to have that love We have love God already has imparted love Filled us with love How much love parents have for the children Children have for the father and mother And so we love so many things We love our body more than anything else It is not the lack of love But it is the proper direction of love That is what is most wonderful That is we have to think about it So pray to God Sri Ramakrishna says That you may have love for him But at the same time pray to God That your attachment to such transitory things As wealth, name and creature comforts May become less and less every day So two types of prayer They are obverse and reverse Are the same coin of the prayer What is that? Let me be away from the West And let me be nearer and nearer to the East If I have to be nearer to God I have to be further away from the world But we are so much attached to the world It is very difficult We want both We want God We want world We want Sathya We want Mithya We want something permanent We want something temporary We want something unlimited And we want at the same time limited We want light We want darkness That is not possible But if we understand What is limited What is temporary Then our love for it becomes Very very less Nobody wants anything temporary This is a peculiar psychology Of human beings You ask somebody Do you love me? Yes, I love you very much You ask your mother Or let a mother ask a child My child, do you love me? Yes My beloved, do you love me? Yes How long? Oh, for a minute or two Five minutes Or five days I love you Nobody likes that one We want permanent love But curious thing is Are you able to love anything permanently? And this is the peculiarity of psychology If somebody can love something Very intensely And permanently Such a person will realize God Very very soon That's why Swami Vivekananda Used to express Romeo and Juliet Laila and Majnu They are the greatest lovers in the world It is only just God is only One step away from them Because the mind Which can love Any worldly thing In such intense manner And no object Is fit To receive Such intense love Permanent love And for the only being Who can really receive that kind of love Permanently And that is God No human being Can ever receive it Here is something very very Surprising, shocking Truth about our psychology We all want others to love us So we all want to hear Praises all the time Alright If there is somebody And that person goes on praising you Do you think you will be really happy? You can For a few minutes Somebody praises you You will be very happy To hear your good name Your ego is bolstered But If somebody goes on doing that In course of time It becomes terrible You want to kill that fellow And run away from that person Even more surprising If somebody loves you intensely Then You don't want even to Hear that person's name You want just to kill that person Is it not what we want? No We want somebody To love us But we do not have the capacity To receive permanently In order to be able to receive Someone loving us permanently We should become Like that person God is eternal And the love of God Is not a quality Like we have This is a fair person And this is a musician This is a scientist These are all qualifications So that is not the type of Quality God has got God And his capacity to love Existence Knowledge And love Sat Chit And Ananda We have already discussed this point Especially in some other classes This Sat means Health and existence Chit means Right knowledge Wisdom And Ananda means Merely don't take it as Only great happiness Ananda means Tremendous amount of love So God is of the nature of love And he cannot but love But what is the relationship between Love, knowledge, existence and God They are not his qualities Sat, Chit and Ananda Are not the qualities of God They are the very nature of God This is the difference between Quality and nature A quality There is a red flower So after sometime The redness will be fading away In fact even before blossoming It may not be that red It may be a bit whitish Pinkish But as it becomes more and more Growing up Nature It becomes red And after when it is fading away The redness also will fade away Any quality can be taken away The substance is different Quality is different But fire and heat Sun and the power of light They cannot be Never be separated Ramakrishna illustrates Heat and its power of burning Milk and its whiteness You can never separate So when we understand God is of the nature of love Because Ananda and love They are two words for the same phenomena Where there is Ananda There is love Where there is love There is Ananda Where there is Ananda There is memory Where there is Ananda There is Ekagrata Concentration Where there is Ananda There is a tremendous interest So interest Concentration Memory Love And joy All these are different names For that one Ananda That is the nature of God That is not the quality of God I will tell you something very interesting Supposing there is a husband And there is a wife Or a loving mother And a child Naturally the mother loves the child Now love means I said just now Memory How long does the mother remember the child All the time It is impossible She has to prepare food She has to attend to her husband She has to attend to so many other duties And when she is doing those Performing those duties The mother can never remember the child Background yes But directly memory is not there When the same mother goes into deep sleep For several hours The baby is as if non-existent Everything in this world The whole world Including God Is non-existent But wherever God is Whether he is in the Jagrat Avastha Or Swapna Avastha Or deep sleep Sushupti Avastha God's purity God's love God's consciousness God's knowledge Existence of God That is what sustains us That is what permeates us It's impossible So we But are we able to return A little bit of God's love Is the child able to return Completely dependent upon the mother But what is the child able to do Can it repay The only thing it says I have faith in my mother I rely upon her I can sleep nicely Because I know My mother is protecting me She is keeping a watchful eye upon me This is the greatest love Any Jeeva can exercise towards God Because Jeeva means A person who goes through All the three states of waking, dream and dreamless It is only a Jeevan Mukta Who is awake 24 hours a day So Ramakrishna says Pray to God That your attachment To worldly objects Like wealth, name Creature comforts Which include body, mind Satisfaction May become less and less every day That you may have love for him In another context Ramakrishna is telling It is only rare people like Chaitanya Like Meerabai Like Radha Devi Like Sairam Krishna Who are able to get What is called Parabhakti Supreme love, supreme devotion Which is called Mahabhava In Vaishnava literature Why? Because every bhava Bhava means Kind of emotional knowledge If it is too much It will have a raking effect Upon our body Our nerves will be shattered No Jeeva's body Nerves are capable of withstanding That tremendous power Of too much of love Too much of attachment to God Only a few bodies are specially made They appear to be Exactly like other people's bodies But there is a vast difference Between these two Eswar Chandrasen Who met Sairam Krishna And he was a very sincere soul And he could immediately understand Intuit That the bodies of Sairam Krishna And other incarnations He did not call Sairam Krishna An incarnation But he said very special persons But extremely delicate persons Their bodies have to be preserved Like the very valuable Electronic equipment In a protected environment In a glass case Otherwise These bodies are so fragile They shatter At the slightest touch Of worldliness Roughness So What we have to do is We each one of us Have tremendous capacity We are only just beginning To unravel Beginning to discover Our capacities Our potentialities But No two people are alike So but Each one of us Have a right To fulfil To manifest fully Our hidden potentialities At least for this life Maybe in the next life I might have more potentiality That is called Pray to God That is what Sairam Krishna is telling This prayer is very important because Often we pray Lord give me bhakti What is bhakti? In other words Lord give me the capacity to love you That is called bhakti But We rarely pray Let my attachment to the world Become less and less and less Sairam Krishna Opens our eyes And says this is one of the Most important part of the prayer That we have to Increase Our Detachment And that is called Karma Yoga That is why The fifth commandment of Sairam Krishna Which we discussed Collaborately Live like a maid servant What is it? A maid servant Does Everything Very sincerely Very lovingly With full concentration Very efficiently Very rationally But she knows Nothing of this belongs to me My home is there elsewhere I have my own children This is not my home And I have my own Separate existence That is The essence of Karma Yoga Live like a Detached life like a Maid servant But It is not easy So we have to Pray to God Then One of the neighbours Is asking Sairam Krishna Is putting question Sir We are sinners What will happen to us? This idea That we are sinners Is Anathema It is not accepted By Hinduism Do I mean to say Does Sairam Krishna mean to say That there is no sin There is no evil And all No Hindu Ever commits a sin Yes there is a sin But Swami Vivekananda goes A bit Higher up And says Deeper And says What is the root cause of sin? I put it this way Very nice point We all All Hindus In practice Accept the law of karma What is it? If I put my hand in the fire No Hindu will say In fact nobody will say That it doesn't burn If I put My hand In a Freezer Then It will become In course of time Frozen This is what happens Nose is frozen And The body becomes burnt actually Freezing is also burning It burns the body So This is the effect Every karma Has its own effect We all know that Only that The whole modern science Is based upon This concept of the law of cause and effect Only thing is That only some religions believe We had past births And we are going to future births Because every birth Is an invaluable opportunity Given us by God So that we can We can Manifest our divinity Our potentialities in so many ways So here also Divinity means potentialities If somebody Has a good potential to become A good writer A good speaker A good painter A good singer A good at anything Linguistics, administration Or ruling of a country Everybody Has got their own speciality Our divinity Has to be manifested First you manifest These potentialities And then use these Manifested potentialities So that we only want One result Not the Commensurate result Wealth, name Fame etc Recognition in the society etc No But I want only certificate from God From nobody else Every bhakta has to Remember You see we are all people What is called Mutual scratching Society I scratch your back You scratch my back I praise you You praise me That is not how In spiritual life it works Only if God Gives a certificate That you are my Same bhakta Priyo naraha Same naraha me Priyo bhakta Only this person Who behaves in such a way The old 12th chapter So many shlokas Same priyaha Saha, such a bhakta Me priyaha He is very closer to me That is what The description goes Only God can give That Certificate and that Certificate alone is a valid Certificate, not we are Praising that my devotee Is coming, Ram Krishna's Devotee, this person is a Krishna's Devotee, only God knows Who is whose devotee But sincerely We have to pray Now here is the question Can a person, a devotee And be also a sinner at the Same time This notion that sin Means non-godliness And godliness And non-godliness Are diametrically opposed If I am a devotee First of all I am never Going to commit any Evil So there would be no sin at all Sin is the end result Of an evil action That we all do Now Maybe before I become a devotee I have committed so many Things, for example in my past Life, I don't know what I have done So in this life I am Experiencing it and that is Absolute truth So we are sinners No, because you are a Householder you need not be Sinner, because you are a monk It doesn't mean you are doing only Punya karma, good karma There are so many So called monks Who are worse than monkeys And there are so many Householders who are far Superior To any monk That's why Sri Ramakrishna Did not make this distinction So to uphold That highest State, he asked M Remain in the world Because M wanted to take sannyasa Same thing happened to Nagamahasaya, he also wanted Sri Ramakrishna expressly Forbade him, no You remain and he did not Of course explain why he Wants Nagamahasaya To remain as a householder We know now, Nagamahasaya Was more than a monk Even though in our He lived with his wife And he did everything A householder was supposed to do Same thing M also Had done You know Perhaps I have recollected some Incidents like that But there is no harm in recollecting It again I heard that happened In Varanasi, Kashi Where I am now So there was a place Holy Mother Was staying at that time in Kashi M also was staying in the Ashrama at Kashi And Holy Mother was staying Just about 10 to 15 minutes walking distance Away from the Ashrama and in those days The traffic was not there One could just cross the road Enter into a small lane And there is Lakshmi Niwasa That is the name of the house Holy Mother was living So one day One brahmachari was Returning from the Ashrama to Holy Mother And another Devotee or brahmachari I don't recollect He met him on the way And then the devotee asked him Where from are you coming Are you coming from the Ashrama Yes, yes, just now I am coming from the Ashrama Have you met M? Yes, yes And in fact He is taking a class And I just heard that class And after that I am coming back to Holy Mother Then the devotee Happened to ask him How is M? He said absolutely fine Did you see any change in his face? He said no, I have not seen any face Joyfully He was explaining Bhagavatam Then the brahmachari Got a bit Curious, he asked Why are you asking so many questions What is the matter Is there anything happened to M? Then the Devotee explained Just before M Started taking This class He got the news That one of his children Had passed away, probably In Mumbai The brahmachari was stunned He heard, M heard This news Just before he took up the class And then he started Taking class, not One single sign Of grief Of weeping Of anything In a joyful face He was explaining The Bhagavatam Like Shukadeva was Explaining to Parikshit Maharaja The only wrong thing With this analogy is Parikshit Maharaja was cursed You will die within a week And Shukadeva Started expounding The glories of God For one week Here M was expounding And others were enjoying It, even though This something had happened Such a terrible news for any Householder, one of his children Had died, how many of us Are able to remain unaffected like that This is all The training of Sri Ramakrishna Had creaked in Really, really M started living Like a maid servant There are many other incidents are there But I will just tell you one Now and then In mid-winter M used to Take off his warm clothing Everything, go and stand For a few minutes outside In the terrible cold You know Calcutta can sometimes Be below zero The temperature can be below zero And I heard that it is Quite cold now Even though Varanasi Is just like Bangalore weather Very pleasant weather right now So he used to stand Somebody observed him and said Sir why are you doing this You may take ill Then he said, I know But there are so many people That they do not have the same Comforts, a beautiful bed Soft bed, a warm Quilt, warm clothing And I am enjoying All by the grace of God But thousands of people In this very city of Calcutta Do not have all these things So I want to sympathize With them This was one incident And sometimes He used to after Evening dinner He used to go out In the simplest of dress Sit with the beggars Who used to sleep on the road itself Whole night he will pass So that he can be reminded Lord whatever Life type of life You have provided me Is all your grace But for your grace I could have been living on the street Like these beggars This is the type Of life but even more Striking incident was there One of M's sons Had become a drunkard He started wasting his father's Money because M By the sale of the Kathamruta Had become quite wealthy He could construct A multi-storied building And name it as Kathamruta Bhavana Now fortunately M's two Grandchildren They are Single, they are unmarried And they have donated that property Now to the Belur Mart Now the Kathamruta Bhavana Where Thousands or lakhs of devotees Used to throng To hear the nectarine words of M From his own mouth They used to throng This Kathamruta Bhavana And M used to Entertain them and spend His whole time in writing The Gospel and he Did not complete Even so many things are left behind Even one or two Diaries are there And they are still there They cannot be deciphered Anybody can read them But like shortcut hints They are there So this one of the sons Became drunkard And one day this man with Ragged cloths And Torn cloths with ragged hair Orry hair He came and then he said Can you, I have not eaten for Few days, can you give me some money He begged the attendant The attendant took Some minutes to recognize That this is a Son of M Himself, so give me Some money, the attendant felt I want to give some money Then he remembered I should never do anything Without the express permission Of M, so immediately Went up and met M Explained the situation, can I give Some money to him M immediately said yes, go and Give him some money And as the attendant was coming down M called him back And said look Tell that person That this is not charity This is only a loan As soon as he is capable He should repay the money So the attendant Came and told What the M asked him To tell is only a loan Take this money, of course The son took the money gladly And immediately Vanished from that place Now the mind of the Attendant became troubled What type of man is this His own son and he doesn't Have money and he is Telling this is a loan I am not giving to you In charity Then M could Understand, he also acquired Some power of reading the Minds of the people and then He explained, look here This is Not my money This building, this money Everything Belongs to Shri Ramakrishna And I have no right To waste this money This boy I know is addicted to Drinks and if I give In charity, I know What he is going to do That's why I told him I cannot waste my money On drunkards who will Spend this money only on Drinking and other things So it is a temporary loan Anyway, by the grace Of God, that son became Sober, he Understood the wrong Things he was doing And he became completely sober He was reconciled to M And he started living A very good life Now all these Incidents I have narrated Is that we should have Complete detachment And not only we should pray Prayer is a kind of Auto suggestion, so when we Go on praying, we are Reminded ourselves, I pray to God and God Answers, that means he granted me That I should not have Attachment but I Should practice that Detachment as much As possible So this is what we have To understand, so His neighbour came and asked Sir, we are sinners, what will Happen to us? Considering That I am a devotee of God Considering that I am a sinner They don't go Together, they don't simply Jail, why? Because, first of all, this Neighbour, he came There was freedom He need not have come to Sri Ramakrishna But I am sure He was also a sort of Devotee Like householder devotees He came, probably he had some Devotion, definitely he was A great fortunate person To have met Sri Ramakrishna To be sitting near him And to put questions to him And to Get answered graciously by Sri Ramakrishna, that is something Most marvellous So here is a very important Topic, whatever we May have been in the past That is of no account But once we turn to God Once we have faith To God, that is why Bhagavad Gita, Sri Krishna Says, categorically to Arjuna Proclaim O son of Kunti To the whole world Name Bhaktaha Pranashyati, Apichet Sudracharo Bhajate mam ananya bhag Sadhu reva samanta vyaha Samyak Vyavasito hi saha Imperson may have been One of the worst Sinners in the whole world But once he turns his face Towards me, Apichet Sudracharo Bhajate mam ananya bhag Turns to me Regrets what he had done In the past, never Again repeats what he did Strives his best to practice All the teachings His Guru or the scripture Has been telling him Sadhu reva samanta vyaha He must be considered as a sadhu That means a great Spiritual person Samyak vyavasito sa He has determined rightly And he has been practicing rightly True determination Ends only, expresses Only in true practice Simply saying I am a certified devotee I have been initiated by such and such A great Guru I say shame to the Guru If the disciple Merely talks verbally And then never practices In his life Now what was the answer? Ramakrishna was giving To this Particularised question Of the neighbour We are all sinners, what will happen to us? That means Are we going to suffer? Are we going to be reborn many times? Ramakrishna answers All the sins of the body Fly away If one chants the name of God And sings his glories And then he gives an example The birds of sin Dwell in the tree of the body Body is compared to a tree And the birds are compared to This Birds, all the sins Singing the name of God Is like clapping your hands Because at a clap of the hands The birds in the tree fly away So do our sins Disappear at the chanting of God's name and glories What a marvellous Statement Sri Ramakrishna is telling That there would be no sins Yes Is it true? As soon as we start Chanting the name of God All the sins will disappear Sri Ramakrishna Used to give a beautiful example Suppose a person Was sleeping And lying on the bed And dreaming And he has seen a tiger jumped at him And he got terribly frightened And then he wakes up Even though Upon waking up He understands that that was a dream And there is no real tiger That means there is no Real problem Real threat, danger But the heart Which started beating very fast In the dream Seeing the dream tiger Will go on beating for some time It will take some time Similarly the past Sins, the effect of the past Sins we have done Start bearing its fruit And we have to pay That price For some time The most important thing is Oh Lord, I have committed Many sins out of ignorance Now I know by your grace What is right I will never again commit any more sins And once a person Turns his life The leap of his life over again And starts living this Righteous life, dharmika life Samyak yavasi tohi Saha, rightly determined To lead a spiritual life God will be Very gracious He can remove all the sins Destroy all the sins Excepting that which Because of which the present Type of body, social Circumstances, etc Have come here So this is called Prarabdha has to be Experienced under the Fall of the body The prarabdha also will be finished There will be no future birth Etc, but for that We have to genuinely With 100% faith Determine, yavasita Means we must take a vow I will never again repeat I will only want to remember You and nothing Else, this is what Shri Ramakrishna means That all the sins, that means All the future effects Sanchita and Agami Everything will disappear But the effect Of this thing will continue For some time, Shri Ramakrishna Used to give a beautiful example There was a man He must have committed lot of sins As a result he became A blind person Maybe in his past birth He was turning a blind eye Towards anybody Who required his help And he was not giving Anything, so in this life He became a blind man But he goes to take Bath in the Ganga Shri Ramakrishna is Continuing, the sins of This blind man Will not affect him any further But for this life He remains a blind man Because already It has taken effect And it is not possible To undo, nobody can Go back in life and say I have chosen wrong parents A wrong home, a wrong Language, a wrong religion A wrong environment And then start all over We cannot undo Even one second Of what we did That's why Jesus Christ tells Let the past Bury its dead You move forward That means what, you cannot Undo the past But you learn the lessons From the past, take a determined Vow that I will not Repeat and I don't want to Suffer in future, so The funny thing is If we know If I am doing because Of what I am doing now Is going to land me in the Greatest suffering tomorrow Next year, next Life, nobody will Ever do such a thing But God has covered all of us With His Maya, we don't Know what is the effect of What we are doing And when it is going to Fractify, whether it is A good karma or bad karma Three things we never know We never know We cannot know three things What is it? Where, when And how The result of karma will fractify Nobody knows, good or bad Sin or virtue Tapa or punya It doesn't really matter But one thing is true That even if we have to Suffer in this life All the evil results By the grace of God Just as at dawn All the darkness completely Vanishes Or even more telling example Of Sri Ramakrishna There is a mountain heap of cotton And just one spark of fire In no time Will reduce the entire mountain of cotton To ashes Like that The name of God can Burn to ashes All the evil results That we have done Provided we become genuinely Regretful and we Take a vow We will not repeat it In the future So just as by clapping The birds in the branches will fly away So also It is by taking the name Of God all the sins Will vanish But at the same time we have to understand Sin is the result Of sinful samskara So whole spiritual Endeavour Is to get rid of the samskara That is where We have to direct our attention And we have to find out Which type of evil Samskara is really Making my life Miserable And which type of good samskara Is struggling to manifest itself If we only possess By this wisdom Or if we can have it With the help of a guru Or with the help of a psychologist Or psychiatrist Then we are blessed The name of God Is highly effective in the Kali Yuga We are in the Kali Yuga This is Kali Yuga What is the nature of the Kali Yuga? Ramakrishna had explained Kali Yuga In Kali Yuga Manoosh, Anna, Gata, Prana That is to say The whole attention of man Is fixed only On the body Bodily enjoyments, sensory enjoyments Most of the people's mind Will not rise Even a little bit Higher than that And that Particular age In which most of the people Become body fixated Body oriented Such an age is called Kali Yuga As Chandogya Upanishad So beautifully tells us We are all Belong to the lineage Of Virochana That is a demon An Asura In Bhagavad Gita we are discussing this one Daivasura Sampad Vibhaga Yoga Asura means demon Demon means Not sharp teeth Etc Demon means here A person with utter selfishness Terribly egotistic Proud Ostentatious Full of jealousy Cruel He will not hesitate to take other people's lives If it serves his own purpose Sometimes even if no purpose is there also Just for the pleasure Of destroying the other person So many people are there So this Where majority of people are like that That is called Kali Yuga And Kali Yuga is only Thickening now For a long time it will continue But we are very fortunate We have Sairam Krishna In front of us In the form of the His teachings called the Gospel of Sairam Krishna And then the name of God is highly Effective in the Kali Yuga Master, yes Faith, what tremendous faith Krishna Kishore had He used to say I have spoken the name of God once That's enough How can I remain a sinner I have become pure and stainless This Krishna Kishore Was a great devotee He was also an Advaita Vedantin He used to say I am Kha That means I am space That means nothing I am not attached to anything Anyway So this Krishna Kishore Happened to be in Vrindavan And one noon he became Very thirsty So he went to a local well Where people were drawing And some Young girl was drawing A woman was drawing Some water Or a man was drawing some water So Krishna Kishore asked I am thirsty, just pour some water Into my hands We just join both hands And kneel down And from above Whether it is a bucket Whether it is a small vessel Their water is poured So without touching the vessel A person can drink nicely Now The other person happened to be A low caste person And he said Sir, I am a low caste person We have been taught By upper class people Even water etc Touched by us, touched by our vessels We incur sin Such were the terrible teachings Hindus, many What is called fanatical Hindus Terrorist Hindus Have rubbed Into the minds of these Innocent people, millions Of innocent Hindus Who were much better than All these people put together Today we are in the form of Terrorists, in the form of Fanatics, we are experiencing The Karmapala has Come back and now we are shouting We are innocent people Why are we suffering? God is not looking after us like No, there is no injustice In the kingdom of God Whatever suffering we are experiencing Our brothers and sisters Are experiencing In the result of what we did In the past, only It is not there In our memory, we cannot Recollect what we have done in the Past, so this Krishna Kishore Upon being told I am a low caste person Said, utter the name of Shiva And that man uttered Now you have become pure Your utensil has become pure Pour water now So he drank the water All because he had such Tremendous faith in the Name, in the power Of God's name, that was What Sri Ram Krishna is indicating Here And this neighbour He must have been a Good person, fortunate definitely He must have been a good person Sri Ram Krishna looked at him Smiling, he continued You have humility, that's good But there is also another way I chant the name of Hari How can I be a sinner? He who constantly repeats I am a sinner I am a rich, barely becomes A sinner Here Sri Ram Krishna is giving us The most tremendous fact Whatever we repeat Even Mechanically, that will Have tremendous effect Go on repeating, oh I am a very Unfortunate person From my childhood I have been suffering There is no opportunity My parents were bad, my family Was bad, my neighbours were bad And my religion was Bad and my country Is also bad Don't go on ever saying Okay, maybe parents did Something they should not have done And the environment was not good That was all in the Past, now At this moment you are not a slave But you are grown up You are mature You are a young person, middle aged person If you go on Remembering only what happened In the childhood, that's one of the Worst things anybody can do Simply say, how can I Be a sinner? Because I have taken the name of God God's name One single utterance Of God's name can Destroy, can repel Millions of births of sins Like one spark of fire Can gut An entire mountain full of Cotton or Dry straw, like that So that is why he says That how can I be a sinner That means what? Now I belong to God Even if I am not pure God will be ashamed He will not keep His child in that sense Just as a mother When she sees that Her child has stepped into mud And then she Is splattered all over with Mud, do you think the mother Will abuse the child And throw the child away She will take lovingly Into her lap and gives her A good bath all the While crooning, my darling My honey, etc My sweetheart, etc If a human mother can do that What do you think the Divine Lord is going to do So there are some religions Who go on depicting God As a dictator As a very very A God full of jealousy So a God who cannot Tolerate, you are Taking the name of other Gods, now I am going to Reduce you to ashes No, no, no, no, God will Never do it, we are attributing Imputing Or imputing all these things To God as if God is having All these qualities, no God is a loving mother Where all his children So if a man Chants the name of God So much, still he talks of sin The Puranas say That even a Chandala Endowed with love of God Achieves liberation According to this school The name of God Is enough to liberate a soul There is even No need of such things as worship Sacrifice, the Disciplines of Tantra And the recitation of Mantras Don't need all those things Just remember God, repeat God's name, pray sincerely Regret whatever you have done Take a vow you will never do anything Again repeat anything That's all that is needed Sadhu reva sa Mantar yaha samyak yavisthohi Saha These beautiful ideas we will discuss in our Next gospel class Om Jananem Sharadam Devim Ramakrishnam Jagadgurum Pada Padmetayos Ritva Pranamami Mohor Moho May The Ramakrishna, Holy Mother And Swami Vivekananda Bless us all with Bhakti Jai Ramakrishna
