Can you lend your voice to me a little bit? You can lend me all the knowledge you have. Done. That's what I have been doing. Only problem is nobody wants to take it. Like five minutes, I can take everything. Anyway. Will you sing a song? Okay. I just want to interfere a little bit. That's my habit. A song. O Lord, grant me your vision. Once Hiram Krishna was sitting in his room at Dakshineswar. Suddenly he felt that he has to go to Calcutta. So some devotees got up a carriage, got into the horse carriage, and then went to Calcutta. There is a place called Shambaza. And then Hiram Krishna asked the carriage to stop there. And then he crossed the road. There was a small mosque. And one Muslim was praying, in his own language. Hiram Krishna went there and embraced him. No talk for two, three minutes. Just Hiram Krishna came back, got into the carriage, and then came back to Dakshineswar. There is a song like this. Have you heard this song? Beautiful. I am sure you have heard about Vani Cherab singing. You have? Vajans? Pyaar e darshan dijiyo. Her voice is a fantastic voice. How many songs have you heard of? Not very well. I think I just heard the name. You never heard the name? I have heard the name but I have not heard it. She sang some of even our own Ramakrishna Vajans. She sang. We brought out some. Hyderabad? Or Chennai? Hyderabad. Chennai Matta also they have. Vani Cherab. Vani Cherab, that is different. It's Tamil. Kakur's Hindi Vajans she has sung. She and I think there is one more, Anoop Jalota also. Yes, Anoop Jalota and then one that Tamilian beautiful singer. What is it? Bharati? Kavita Krishnamurthy. No, no, no. One Bharati. You know this grandson of Subramani Bharati? Rajkumar Bharati. I heard something very strange. You know this Rajkumar Bharati once came here. Beautifully he sang here. His voice is very deep. Have you heard Rajkumar Bharati? Very deep voice. Very sweet voice. Totally lost the voice. Now even he is whispering. I heard like that. Have you heard like that? So somebody told, I don't know how far it is true, that some rival or guru or whatever didn't like. The jealousy came and some mantra or tantra they have done and as a result the man had... These are all things that come through third party. I don't know what is the truth. But he has lost the voice. That's what I heard. For a man who could sing to lose the voice is like losing a prana. Pandit Jasraj also lost his voice. Now he went to that Mata Kalika, that song, the court of Gujarat, Vakaner Maharaja. He was very young. In fact he was learning tabla as well. Then suddenly he shifted to music. Then suddenly something went wrong. He could not diagnose what is wrong. So then that Vakaner Maharaja who was his patron said you just sit in front of Ma Kali and start. So he sang that Mata Kalika. That is his famous song. And then it came back. It was a miracle. All great souls are devoted to God. By the grace of God only it happens. Anyway, now come on. Start before I interfere again. Both are brothers and sisters and both are interested only in music. 24 hours prana. This is prana. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ Both are so talented. You have exceeded my talent. I am very happy. I will make you satisfied. Just this beautiful song, if we know the meaning also, then only we can enjoy. In fact, Ramakrishna was dead against people who will sing without knowing the meaning and without feeling the bhava. This is a song complaining to Rama that, why you are not coming to me? Somebody must have whispered something against me and you have believed it and then you are not coming to me. So, you be careful not to listen to other devotees because who will be complaining to God? Only devotees will be complaining. Who are the enemies of devotees? Yes, yes. Not to true devotees. True devotee will never be an enemy of anybody. Not to speak of devotees, of anybody. So, this is it. Most marvelous. Both of you have got wonderful voice. Remember it is God-given talent. Anything can happen to anybody, anything. Okay. Mahesh, what was this? You wanted to ask a quick question. Once a man came to me. He said, Swami, I would like this. Just wait for a minute. I have a quick question. How can I realize Brahman? Very quick question. Okay. Another man. He is just joking, you know. Then give a reply. Read the Katam. That was for a... Not before. Yes, you know. One Swami, Brahmanandaji, he was about to get into a train. A girl who lost her husband and who saw... In those days, you know, widow means it is terrible. Life is terrible for widows, especially in India. So, she came. Somehow she was searching and she came to know he was leaving. And she came to the railway station. There was not much time. Then I think it said, my daughter, I am going to tell you in one sentence, how you can reach God. Read the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna and follow. It is wonderful, marvelous. Okay. What is your quick question? It is that verse... Fifteenth chapter. And the next verse as well, Swamiji. So, what is your question? We talk about Purusha being imperishable. Here it says, Kshara Akshana Purusha. There are two types of Purusha. One is... Three types of Purusha. Yes, of course. Uttama Purusha has three types. But we normally say Prakruti is perishable and Purusha is imperishable, isn't it? Yes. But why is he talking about Kshara Akshana? If you understand, you know, this word Atma, this verse Purusha, we use under different contexts, meaning many things. So, okay. Kshara and Akshara. First you have to... What are every human being, every living being, is what? Consisting of three things. Paramatma, Chidabhasa, Chit, Chidabhasa and mind-body complex. You understand that? We are a combination of three things. We say body-mind complex. Chidabhasa means the reflection of Chit, which is also named here as Kutastha. So Kutastha is called Akshara. Kshara means anything that is experienced. Akshara means the Jiva, individual Jiva, who is experiencing the whole world through the body-mind complex. You follow? Kshara means that which is perishable. What is perishable? Anything that is experienced. Prakruti. Body-mind complex. That is called Kshara. But the body-mind complex comes out alive because of something. What is that something? Kutastha. Kutastha is also called Chidabhasa. Reflected consciousness. So this reflected consciousness in this verse is called Akshara. Because this word Akshara in other context means Paramatma. But in this context what does it mean? Jiva. Individual soul. So swallowing up both the Kshara and the Jiva, Prakruti and the Jiva, is one in whom the whole thing will be absorbed. Who is that? Paramatma. That is what is called Purushottama. Uttama Purusha means Purushottama. So this is what Bhagavan is teaching to Arjuna that you have to be careful. Your first duty is to separate. Now what do we do? What stage? I am body, I am mind. But there are two. Jiva and then body-mind. Separate. Now two things are there. What are the two things? The subject and the object. The subject is also bound. Remember it. Because without object there could be no subject. And without subject there would be no object. These two words object is Kshara. Subject is called Akshara. And that reflection of which the original consciousness called Chit is called Uttama Purusha. So there are not three things. All the three things are only just one. So one example is given. There is brilliant sunlight outside. A room is completely closed. But there is a small chink and there is a mirror. So that one ray of light is falling through that chink onto the mirror. And that mirror is reflecting the original sunlight. And that is illuminating the whole room. So in this analogy whatever is in the room is called Kshara. The ray of light that is reflected through the mirror is called Akshara. And the original of which it is a reflection is called Uttama Purusha. Is it clear? Wonderful. Until next time. Yes, if you remember everything. How do I know you remember everything? Very good. Excellent. Keep coming and singing. So how do we know you understood? Because if you understood, you will not return. Purpose is, your boat has reached the other shore. Swami, one more request for singing. Niharika, come on. Yes, yes, yes. Bhaktanam Ekadantam Upasmahe Sindhura Arunavitrahaam Trinayanaam Manikya Maureshwara Saranaayakaam Shekharaam Smita Muktimaveena Vakshoruhaam Anipyaam Anipola Ratna Shashakaam Rakto Balam Vipratim Saumyaam Rakta Gadasra Rakta Charanaam Jaya Paramambika Very nice, beautiful. The Divine Mother Lalita. You know in South India, the most famous deity who is worshipped is called Lalita Ambala. And there is a, in Markandeya Purana, there are thousand names of Lalita Ambala. It is very popular in South India, especially by the ladies. It's called Lalita Sahasranama. So before doing the Sahasranama, it is our tradition to remember her. This is called Dhyana Mantra. We have Dhyana Mantra even for Thakur. We have got a series of this one. So Sindhura Arunavitrahaam. It is red, Sindhur you know, Kumkum. South India it is called Kumkum. And here, so North India it is called Sindhur. Her complexion is like that. So it is a meditation upon the deity, like that. Beautiful. And in South India, you know Friday is the best day for worshipping Lalita Ambala. And she is Lakshmi, she is you know every Goddess. Sarva Deva Devi is for opening. So in South India what they do, in the afternoon they gather in a temple usually or in a house and keep a photo, a picture of the Divine Mother and take two cups. One empty, another is full of this Kumkum. In South India they don't use Sindhur. Even though they are telling Sindhur Arunavitrahaam, Trinayanaam, Malikki, Manikki, Maulvi, Svarothaara, Narayani, etc. Anyway, it is still but Kumkum. With each name, it starts with Om Shreemata, Shreemata, Shreemaharagni, Shreematsimhasaneshwari, Chidagni Kundasambhuta, Devakarya Samudbhava. So each name is considered a Mahamantra. And each name will give one-one meaning and so Om Ahim Shreem Shreem Matre Namaha. Like that with every name, Shreemaharagni Namaha, Shreematsimhasaneshwari Namaha, Shreematsidagni Kundasambhuta Namaha, Shreedevakarya Samudbhava Namaha, etc. With every name, Namaha and Bijya Mantra, they take with each mantra, put it on the empty cup. And that they use for putting on the... So they believe it gives... the husband will live a long time, only for those who want a long time. Here the Barbie doll is, you know, different types of Barbie, you know Barbie? So one fellow went to shop on Barbie. Then he asked, what is the cost? It is $1,000. Okay, the next Barbie, doctor Barbie. This is also housewife Barbie. This is a doctor Barbie. So it is how much? $5,000. Then there is a lawyer Barbie. It is $10,000. Then the next one, $100,000. What is the speciality of this Barbie? And she is just widowed from a multi-billionaire. Crazy people are crazy. Anyway, you know what is this? This actually, it is true. Chandi is true, Gita is true, and Vishnu Sahasranama is true, Lalita Sahasranama is true. We are given a choice. You take whatever you want, worship the Lord in the form of father, in the form of mother, and obtain the grace, and it will be absolutely wonderful. Okay, any other questions? How do you think that we should be connected to God all the time? So in our day to day life, when we are sort of cooking and looking after healing or talking to people, how do we do that? Just to think that, don't think. Okay, let me tell you an incident from the life of Thakur. There was one lady, Brahmo lady, and she was devoted to Sri Ramakrishna. And she was a devotee of Gopalakrishna, Nadu Gopal. So she also had a nephew whom she was bringing up. Now she wants to think of Krishna, but she was so lovingly, probably that child's mother passed away, so she was bringing this nephew with greatest love. So she wants to think of Gopala, she wants at the same time the thoughts of his nephew are disturbing her. So this was the dilemma, and with this condition she came to Sri Ramakrishna. Immediately Sri Ramakrishna was what is called greatest eye doctor. You know that Charu? You don't know? Yeah, suppose somebody has eye problem, so where does he go? To an eye doctor. What does he prescribe? Some drops into the eye. Suppose a devotee has got eye problem, he goes to Sri Ramakrishna. What is his advice? Drop the eye. Simple as that. Sri Ramakrishna immediately understood the situation. He said, just you don't need to stop anything. Go on doing exactly what you have been doing. But when you are bathing your nephew, do not think he is your nephew. Think he is Gopal. And whenever you are feeding, you are feeding Gopal. When you are cooking, for whose sake? Gopal. Whatever you are doing, you think that it is Gopal. Within few months she had visions of Gopal. So is it hypnotising or not? This was a question asked by one lady to Swami Vivekananda. He said in his lectures, now onwards you think you are Brahman. This lady, she asked later after the lecture, Are you suggesting Swami that we have to hypnotise ourselves that we have to think we are Brahman? He said, no madam, I am asking you to de-hypnotise yourself because you hypnotised you are not Brahman. Now you de-hypnotise that I am really Brahman. So this is simple. Whatever you do, you don't need to stop anything. You don't need to make special time. If you can make, that is fine. Otherwise, whenever you bring along, what should you think? He is a little Thakur. He is Thakur. But anyway, don't, because you have to think of him as a little Thakur. Because big Thakur, you can't slap. You have to think he is little Thakur, slappable Thakur. So that is the way. This is called Karma Yoga. Shiva Jnane. It applies in every situation. Even when an enemy is killing us. How should we think of the enemy? That also there is an illustration in the life of Thakur. He said there was one soldier, I think he is Raghunath... Raghunath Das. He was an army man. He was a soldier. He was fighting in a battle. And one of his own fellow soldiers, who was a Muslim, he came and stabbed him. During the mutiny in 1857. So this really happened. Anyway, very good illustration. Then his friends came and found out and said, you tell me, because just a few minutes after that, you tell who stabbed you, we will punish him. That was their idea. He said, it is Rama who stabbed me. And that is the truth. Who is stabbing whom? Now, don't mistake. Rama is stabbing you. Who is stabbing whom? Rama is stabbing himself. So in Sri Ramakrishna's life there is an incident. After his Nirvikalpa Samadhi, six months he was continuously in the Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Then Totapuri, you know, after his leaving. After that, you know, it was difficult for his mind to come. In that state what happened, one day he saw, you know that grasshopper? Somebody put a stick in its anus. You know, children, they do it, small sticks, they put grasshopper, because very easy to catch it. It alights and then you catch it and then put it. Children do it. Many things they do it. So Sri Ramakrishna was telling, at first I felt very pained. And then I started laughing, Oh Rama, who was the grasshopper? And who was the stick? And who was the urchin? Rama. So Rama stabbed, put a stick into himself. And this is the truth. But so long as we do not know the truth, we should not do anything that is wrong. This is the idea. But everything is God. That's why our best illustration is dream. In dream, just you are witnessing, you know, you see same sight. In your dream you are walking and one fellow is walking and some other fellow comes and gives him a slap or your imagination is your limit. Stabbed him. No problem, because it's a dream. Yeah, one fellow, a devotee came and said, Yesterday I dreamt that I won 10 pounds in a lottery. I bet my forehead and said, You stupid fellow, this is a dream. Why did you not dream that you have won a billion? Where is the limit? Even in dream you are unable to think that you have won. Anyway, so imagine that somebody comes and then beats the other fellow. At that time, if we read this teaching, it doesn't make sense, because I am separate, those two are separate, one is doing something to the other fellow, isn't it? But upon waking up, who bet whom? It was in my dreams. No, no, who bet whom? Nobody. No, you bet yourself, because you became yourself, you became also those two fellows, and in one form you are beating the other fellow. How do we know? Because upon waking up, you laugh, isn't it? Why did I have such a dream? That's what happens, you know, guru-sishya relationship. You are dreaming, somebody is running with a big knife to stab you, or somebody comes near you and slapping you. Then, you know, you have got a guru, so you have faith in your guru, hopefully, and so you cry out, Gurudev, come and rescue me. You know, your Gurudev, instantaneously he will appear, and what does he do? He will give you a bigger slap, with which you wake up. You wake up. Yes, that is what guru does. Guru's business is to wake you up. That is the fact. This is the truth, everything is God. This is the realization, Sarvam Kalvidam Brahma. But we have to find out where we are, and slowly, step by step, at least if we can think, you know, doing japam, I am offering a little bit of food to God, and I am taking the sacred food. Thakur, Ramakrishna had so much faith in prasada, you know, especially Mahaprasada, Jagannath Prasada, that anything bad you do, just take a grain of Mahaprasada, instantaneously you will become pure. Try it. That is why he is advised to devotees, every day before eating anything, one grain of Mahaprasada, you know dried rice? Atke Prasada. One grain. Same thing applies to Thakur Prasada, any prasada, but this stays for a long time. Do you eat, Charu? Vineet? Yes. Guaranteed. You will become a bhakta, no problem. Sriram, then somebody asked me, is it a fact? Then we have to understand, so if I don't believe in it, will it work? This is one of the questions, doubts. Somebody, then you know my reply, that you know, you take potassium cyanide, you don't need to have anything. Then you know, will I know about it? No, you will not know. I will know, that it really works. Yeah, it works. Three things scripture tells, Sriram Krishna is a scripture, close your eyes and believe it. Nothing else to do. But do something, you know, take God's name, take prasada, try to avoid certain things. So what do we do when we do something, which Sriram Krishna advises we should not do? So in that what we should not do, there are two types. One type is absolutely forbidden, nishedha, like murder, etc. But some things, you know, we indulge our sense organs in eating and other things, entertainment, you know, entertainment and eating nishedha, and entering into Facebook. What do you think, entering into Facebook? Biggest mahamaya. All the horrible things, useless things, completely destructive things are coming. I am having enough baggage, why do I want other people's baggage? Anyway, some people, they don't agree. Devotees, I am not talking about outside people. They say, your other teachings are beautiful, but here I don't agree with you. I said, you will agree later on. Now you may not agree, it doesn't matter. So, what do we do? Because we do nishdha. This was a question put to Swami Brahmananda. Specifics I will not give. Then he said, whenever you do such a thing, you just do extra japa. That will be associated with that. And in future, slowly, that samskara will be eroded. And one day you will find. Only thing is, two problems, we don't do it. Second problem is, we expect instantaneous result. That's not going to happen, it will take time. After all, what is time? Swamiji was telling to American people, you know, your ancestors were putting on colors. Only the other day, one of the audience said, Swami, that was 500 years back. What is 500 years in comparison with infinity? It is not even one second. You see, it doesn't matter. Slowly, we must have that faith, even if you don't have faith. Swamiji didn't have faith in Mahaprasada. You know what benefit he got? Ramakrishna used to put Mahaprasada in banana. So, that means, if you tell me that I don't have faith, I have to bring a banana and put it there. So, if you want a banana, all that you need to say is, I don't have faith in Prasada. But that was Ramakrishna. I am not going to give you banana. So, it works. But it will bring transformation from within. It's a corrosive substance, you know, just it brings about. This beautiful song, Bhaja Govindam, you know how it came? Shankara, it was composed by Achashankaracharya. One day, in Banaras, he was walking. He saw an old man, one foot in the grave, trying to master Sanskrit grammar. It is called Dukkarankarana, means it is Sanskrit grammar, ABCD, alphabet. He took pity and said, this old man is about to die. Instead of thinking of God, he is only thinking of this. And he will not be able to achieve it. Then he composed on this spot, Bhaja Govindam, Bhaja Govindam, Govindam Bhaja Modha Mate. Foolish fellow. And what did he say? Sampraapte Sannihite Kaale. Kaale means death. It is going to come. He was already an old man. Sannihite means it is very near. Nahinahi Rakshati Dukkarankarane. Dukkarankarana means ABCD, ACBD, ADCB. Because he was not even able to remember it in that state. This is not going to save you. And it is beautiful. We might discuss when opportunity comes. Each verse is a very practical wisdom. And it is true. There are two versions of it. But anyway, important versions. Beautiful. And you sang them so beautifully. You learnt it from Subbalakshmi? Incomparable. When she sings, she sings with so much of devotion. And at the same time, she was so fantastic a singer. This is all, as you say, sadhana. Sangeeta is a sadhana. Is there a song called Sangeeta Sadhana? Yes. There is a song called Sangeeta Sadhana in Bangla. Sangeeta is our sadhana. Beautiful. Wonderful. We have a reading now. So those who want to stay, they can stay. Those who want to go, they can go. You want to go now, Mahesh? You see, Savita, as soon as I mentioned the word clash, practically everybody is going.
