OM JANANIM SHARADAM DEVYAM RAMAKRISHNAM JAGADGURUM ADHAPADMETAYO SRIDHVA PRANAMAMI MUHURMUHUHU VASUDE VASUDAM DEVAM KAMSACHANURA MARDANAM DEVAKI PARAMANANDAM KRISHNAM VANDE JAGADGURUM SARUPO PANISHADO GAVO DOBDHA GOPALANANDANAH PARTHO VACHAH SUDHIRU BHOKTA DOBDHAM GEETAM RITAM MAHAH MOOKAM KAROTI VACHALAM PANGUM LANGAYATE GIRIM YATKRIPATAMAHAM VANDE PARAMANANDAMADHAVAM Yesterday we had been discussing the verse of the 18th chapter Bhagavad Gita, verse number 75. I believe about 8 minutes of the Zoom had vanished. I do not know mysterious reasons. We have to accept these things. But I will be recollecting what I had been talking about it. Of course the full recording has been there. It is already posted. And those who want to just listen, they can absolutely listen. So we have been discussing. Now when you had shifted from the battlefield, of course Sanjaya was not known. Probably he was transiting from the battlefield to Hastinapura to report whatever has been happening. Or because of the grace of Yasa, he had been given that marvelous insight. He could see, he could hear, he could also see what people were thinking. Everybody for as long as the battle lasted, for 18 days, he could do everything. He was like God. And Sanjaya was a well-wisher of everybody. And he was of course a well-wisher of Dhritarashtra. He was telling and giving in leaving Dhritarashtra in no undoubting terms that you are doomed. Your sons are doomed. The victory will come where there is Krishna, where there is righteousness. There Vijaya will be there. Sri will be there. Neeti will be there. Every blessed thing that man desires will be there. This is the one voice of every scripture, of every religion, O man, lead a spiritual life. It's not meant only for spiritual people. Even if you want to be worldly, you cling on to God. I will summarize these things. Well, we have completed this one. So we have been reading this one. Sanjaya was recollecting. Already he told what has happened. I have seen the divine universal form of the Lord by the grace of my Sadguru who is none other than Yasa Maharshi himself. And the peculiarity of this statement is that Dhritarashtra was none other than the very son begotten by Yasadeva. Both Pandu and Dhritarashtra are the children begot through the wives of Vijitranga and Vijitravirya because they did not have any issues. And why did not they have issues? Because they had terrible issues. What were the issues? They were addicted to pleasure, sexual pleasures and they must be suffering. Both of them from venerable diseases, very venerable diseases and as a result they lost their lives. Now to perpetuate the lineage, Yasa's mother Satyavati who of course begot Vijitranga, Vijitravirya through Shantanu, King Shantanu. She requested Yasa to perpetuate the lineage. That was permitted and nowadays it is done through laboratory testing etc. etc. So really speaking the war was between the grandsons of Vedavyasa. And yet he could not do anything. Dhritarashtra would not do anything. Pandu was not there alive. All these problems have stemmed only from Vedavyasa I should say because he is the root cause of this entire Kurukshetra war. Anyway I am saying it in a light manner. You should not take it absolutely that way. It is very very important for us to understand this one. Okay. So here we are in the 17th. Sanjay was recollecting. Prajan samsmrutya samsmrutya samvadam imam adbhutam Keshavarjanayoha punyam trishyamichamuhurmuhu Prajan he Dhritarashtra imam Keshavarjanayoha samvadam This dialogue between Shri Krishna and Arjuna. What type of dialogue? Punyancha, Adbhutancha Even a mere reading or listening or meditating that is conducive to great merit because this is how advertisement works. I have to insert here. I did it so many times in the past. When we go on reading something, hearing something again and again For example, one of our senior Swamis used to make fun The modern man's Bhagavatam, Kalikaala Bhagavatam is the newspaper and there Shri Ramakrishna said it is the most worldly thing in the world. So at least don't read it in the morning because that will disturb our mind that will make us more worldly and of course nowadays nothing comes free everything is repeated again and again in the form of advertisement Advertisement is nothing but listening or hearing and then slowly as in the second chapter the Lord had outlined Go on brooding over something slowly attachment comes out of attachment comes desire desire will turn into anger anger will bring in delusion delusion will make us bereft of all logical thinking rational thinking we become irrational, insane and that leads to wrong decisions and wrong decision ultimately lands us in the greatest destruction which is suffering So marvelously said but the same thing can also help us in a very positive way whether you like it or not go on studying, go on reading, go on listening just as we go on eating even the most unpleasant unsavourable food savoury food in course of time turns to be very very tasty so also everything through repetition and that is the psychology of advertisement and so the Lord says this is punyam it gives us tremendous amount of merit because it transforms from within like a catalytic agent it itself will destroy slowly bring about a change but in this case a change for the betterment a change for spirituality and abhutam it is also marvellous samvadham this kind of conversation dialogue dialogue means a teaching that is in the form of questions and answers and very easily put forward is very helpful to most of us I can also tell you not always because there is a book called Yoga Vasistha and there is also a conversation but it is a very tough book purest advaita is presented there that is everything is delusion a magical show nothing is real excepting the self it is true absolutely true but the way it is presented it can create lot of problem but with Bhagavad Gita it is very practical Yogashastra Yogashastra means the teachings can be practiced it is not difficult to understand but it is of course difficult to practice Ramakrishna used to say very easy to say sa ri ga ma pa dha ni but extremely difficult we have to practice again and again then only we understand the difference between ni and dha between dha and pa between pa and ma etc etc only such people who have got tremendous aesthetic sensitivity only they can do it the essence of what I am talking is easy to understand our goal is very far away so it looks naturally it will take time but let us start intelligently what is intelligent start let us find out where we are in this path of the spiritual journey and let us start from there and then it is good because the more we improve in our sadhana the better will be our spiritual progress but what is spiritual progress we become immortal we become wise and our happiness increases by leaps and bounds geometrically it increases we get this discussion in the Taittiriya Upanishad second chapter very aptly titled Anandavalli, Brahmanandavalli a deep discussion on how to attain higher and still higher and still highest happiness now coming back to our speech so this wonderful conversation by the grace of Vyasa Sanjaya had been hearing it and as I mentioned yesterday never forget as it takes more than two hours for us to understand Bhagawan was not going to he was a very practical person he must have finished it within a minute or two the very essence of it and he can give that understanding through what I call intuitive understanding by his grace and Arjuna categorically says in the 10th chapter I have complete faith that means I have accepted whatever teachings you have given but I would like to experience them so both understanding and experience can come only by the grace and that grace was also extended to Vyasa's grace which is none other than Krishna's himself Krishna's grace so that was extended to Sanjaya Sanjaya is remembering because this is something unforgettable because any experience especially that which creates the greatest joy greatest happiness greatest bliss and only spirituality can produce that greatest and that can come only when we progress in spiritual life both increment in happiness and spiritual progress they are interlinked like when as a man goes on climbing higher and higher a mountain his vision extends for a long distance like that the happiness increases both qualitatively and quantitatively now memory is very closely associated with this kind of memory because we remember only two things two things only impress us or force us to remember again and again what is it the most painful maybe somebody had beaten us, maybe somebody had insulted us we feel like committing suicide we develop anger hatred towards that person we can never forget and as we go on meditating upon that incident our anger, our hatred proportionately it goes on increasing but it is also the same truth when applied to a most happy thing in fact most of our so called desires are more intimately associated with our memory rather than with our actual experience because we experience something which is pleasant that passes away but the effect remains in the form of the memory and then the memory plays havoc, it goes on imagining how wonderful it is and day by day minute by minute it goes on increasing its hold upon us, proportionately intensity of desire also grows and that is how we are caught either in the spiritual world or in the worldly bondage of course now we are in the worldly bondage so this most marvelous conversation, why is it called so marvelous I will come to that very soon yesterday I covered it but because the video has gone I will repeat it so here Sanjaya earlier he was telling that this conversation between Bhagwan Krishna and Arjuna whom Sanjaya had labelled as Mahatma Mahatma means we are all Atmas but Jivatmas, individual souls but really the real meaning of Mahatma is one, who knows, I am the Paramatma Mahatma not great but the only Atman which is infinite, which is eternal, which is called in popular terms Sat, Chit and Ananda so that experience Arjuna had, that's why this grieving Arjuna had now become a rejoicing Arjuna and some of the changes that have taken place I am going to talk about it very soon, so Arjuna had heard this he pondered over it he understood it and he experienced it and he became a Mahatma the idea is anybody can become because this teaching is not confined to only that particular time when Krishna taught it is universal universal means applicable for all times, for the whole world, not only for one person, so Arjuna had become blessed by hearing and by realizing, anyone we anyone of us, we are all Jivatmas like Arjuna if we also can listen because this teaching actually is Bhagawan Himself when we are reading, studying the Gospel in the Bible or the Gospel of Sri Ram Krishna, or the Gospel of Buddha, or the Gospel of Sri Krishna, really speaking, you don't need another person, because this knowledge itself is Bhagawan that is why Brahma with Brahma Eva Bhavati, a knower of Brahman, becomes Brahman knowledge has the power, through knowledge has the power to transform us it works even in worldly affairs also, that is why Sanjaya labeled Arjuna as Mahatma, and there is no need for him to label Bhagawan Krishna as Mahatma because he knew especially after witnessing that universal vision along with Arjuna he could, Sanjaya also could understand, Krishna if he had not understood before is not a human being but he is a Paramatma himself, Ishwara Himself and what to speak of Arjuna, to whom directly Sri Krishna addresses his teaching, and it is interesting to know, he was not teaching Bhishma, he was not teaching Drona, he was not teaching any of the Pandavas excepting Arjuna picking up, selecting him because he was the closest also because he was the instrument, also because in the Puranas every time God incarnates, he comes as the incarnation and he will bring his most intimate companion one body is for the sake of experiencing and expressing, another body is for digesting it and propagating it that is how Dharma Stapana goes so with Christ, there was Peter there was Paul, with Buddha there was Ananda, with Krishna there was Arjuna, with Chaitanya there was Nithyananda with Sri Ramakrishna there was Swami Vivekananda because those bodies particularly the bodies of incarnations of God can never be suitable for certain type of Rajasic works, more Rajoguna is needed to propagate to give talks to give lectures etc so Arjuna had become Mahatma, like that this Arjuna who was sunk in grief because of delusion, after hearing he became transformed and we can also do the same thing as what Sanjaya says that the Gospel preached by the Lord had captivated his heart so much that he had lost his relish for anything else how do we know? here it says below it comes only one memory comes to him again and again and again and again what is it? Rupam Atyad Bhutam Hare we will come to that very soon so Sanjaya was being transported with joy and overwhelmed with love, his hair was standing on end now we have to say it is not only Bhagavad Gita if anybody says this transformation can happen only through the teaching of Bhagavad Gita and through Bhagavan Krishna he will be a fanatic God has no such division, he came as Buddha, he came as Christ, came as Chaitanya, he came as Ramakrishna he will come many more times in future but in the past he came innumerable times, innumerable are the incarnations and as I mentioned earlier every time he comes he teaches only one thing spiritual life is the only type of life there is no choice with regard to spiritual life no, there is no choice because a mango seed doesn't have any choice excepting manifesting as a mango tree an apple tree an apple seed has no choice but to become the best apple tree and that is what it endures, in this regard there is a very remarkable statement by Swami Vivekananda once he said supposing there is an apple tree and it yields 400 apples, 399 are rotten defective but one particular apple is perfect Swami Vivekananda says everybody's attention is usually drawn only for that 399 rotten apples because the fellows who are looking are rotten apples but the possibility that if it can yield one wonderful perfect apple that shows the potentiality now try to remove all the defects and then all the 399 also will turn out to be perfect apples what was Swami Vivekananda indicating by this each soul is potentially divine however evil he might be however unrighteous he may be, however worldly he may think he is the potentiality the teleology each soul is potentially divine and that alone will force everything else to subside and that alone will try, there is no doubt about it, understood in this life, even the most evil person is trying to manifest his divinity but by mistake he thinks I want power, I want possessions, I want to have power, suppress everybody it doesn't matter in the form of selfishness but one very wonderful psychological truth the more evil a person the more is the power for him to transform from evil to good this is what we need to understand crystal clearly Swami Vivekananda was very fond so see an Alexander a Caesar, a Napoleon a Genghis Khan from the viewpoint of history they were the most powerful people nobody could resist them but they might have for this life have used it for selfish purposes but once their attention turns to spiritual life they will just outrun anyone of us because the potentiality has been increased by a million fold but only temporarily we are only judging everything by the standard of one life but what is one life in comparison to infinite time even if a person had gone through millions of births but there will come a time when he will turn from our viewpoint oh millions of lives but from the viewpoint of infinity what is a billion billion billion billion lives it is absolutely nothing it is like a powerful computer chip by the time you give a command it doesn't even show you it has done it is it does it so fast in future it will do so much so this is a wonderful psychological fact the more wicked the more obsessed with love like Romeo Juliet Laila Majnu etc and so on way Kananda used to admire now all that is needed is to turn that direction towards God and it will happen because no intense love is capable of being received by some small instrument just as a billion volts thunderbolt can fuel can destroy any fuse in this world like that this tremendous power of love because love is knowledge love is energy maybe this person for a few lives has directed it towards what we call unrighteous thing and that I would not say even that because if we accept the law of karma then if anybody is suffering because of the instrumentality of whether it is Hitler or Genghis Khan or anybody it is not because of them they are mere instruments in the hands of Ishwara but really our own karma is what brings us either happiness or unhappiness so let us return back this most pleasant experience and then most wonderful experience of witnessing this divine lord equivalent to Arjuna if Arjuna could become Mahatma Alpa Atma had become Mahatma Sanjay was also an Alpa Atma and he must have become a Mahatma because just as we say funnily only one thief can cognize the other thief only one Mahatma can understand the other Mahatma so fanaticism should not be there any scripture because every scripture teaches about God and God only created the scriptures so God only manifesting in the form of Chit that's what we call a scripture and any scripture in the past, in the present and in the future provided it doesn't violate the established Vedas Bible, Koran etc but interpreted properly it is capable of taking us out of this selfish narrow suffering this pit of Samsara transmigration and uplift us make us free forever that is the real result and we now go into the 77th verse Samsmritya and Sanjay his words cannot stop because he had such an experience his mind was overflowing and he cannot contain it just as a happy news unless it is shared with others cannot be contained otherwise the fellow will go mad his blood pleasure and blood pressure both will grow uncontrollably so Sanjay was in that state after having this vision it is impossible for anybody to be what I call ignorant and then petty minded selfish minded etc he is uttering the same words but slight slight change in the 77th so what is he telling? of that divine lord called Hari who is a Hari he who by his mere presence by his mere will can melt can destroy can remove all the evil propensities that means ignorance because light instantaneously destroys darkness, knowledge instantaneously destroys ignorance that is called the person or the being or that knowledge that embodiment of knowledge and he is called Hari and whoever gets that a bit of that Hari's quality light instantaneously there is no way helplessly like a small iron filing is drawn towards a powerful magnet there is no help but to become merged in one Ramkrishna expresses it so beautifully when a huge ship is passing by the side of a magnetic hill as soon as it comes sufficiently near all the nails and joint makers everything will come loose and the boat has to sink then and there there is no other way in metaphorical language Ramkrishna was expressing if anybody can manage to come near God then immediately instantaneously helplessly all his ignorance darkness, bondage grief, limitedness and imperfections everything will be completely destroyed and that is what he is expressing what he said earlier also what is this Hari power atyadbhutam roopam cha and that roopa, that form, here we should not think a form is a form light has no form but it manifests through every form, electricity has no form but it manifests through the heater, through the fan through the magnet through many many other instruments every computer works only either battery power or direct AC power it doesn't matter, through like electricity electricity itself has no form but we can cognize it recognize it, oh heat is coming oh fan is moving so like that it is boiling it is cooking, it is giving light and it is attracting iron particles through the effects we can infer what is the original source and that is Hari's most marvelous indescribable form we have seen in the second chapter also trying to describe about the Atman so Bhagwan Krishna himself says so the nature of the Atman is ashtarya, means never before experienced by anybody and he who tells he tells about this and his telling, his teaching itself is the greatest wonder and the person who listens for the first time, this marvelous thing, he also becomes overwhelmed with this marvelous thing, ashtarya ashtaryo vakta, kushalo asyalabdha, Katha Upanishad tells us, rare indeed is this person who can express, who can express only the person who experienced it and who can receive it, only a person who is fit who is pure, who is ready to receive, unless both the giver and receiver they are in harmony it is impossible that is why we have to pray to God Sahana Vavatu protect us together Sahana Vunatu, let the teacher have the capacity to transmit, let the disciple have the capacity to receive that is why Shri Ram Krishna used to tell to many visitors go and see the buildings go and see the gardens because there is no point in your sitting here so this is what telling and as often poking, as I remember that most wonderful form of Krishna great is my astonishment ashtarya poking and I rejoice again and again means unbroken happiness this is not like ordinary happiness every object in this world they can give some happiness but it is a broken happiness by time, by space, by causation by the body and by the mind but this is beyond the body beyond the mind, it is not limited by time, by space by Vastu Desha Parichcheda, limitation by space Kala Parichcheda, limitation by time Vastu Parichcheda, limitation by another object a second object is completely absent because it is one infinite eternal reality so to go back Hare He, He is termed God is termed, Parabrahma is termed as Hari association of any kind with Him what is association? reading about Him, listening about Him thinking about Him meditating upon Him talking about Him praise one, the person who does, anyone of them from all sins, ignorance and sorrows and the Lord robs the devotee of his heart the Lord simply removes the mind, destroys the mind that is why God is called the greatest thief in the world in Rudra we chant salutations to the emperor of thieves every other thief can only take our possession but this thief, he just steals our heart and as Jesus Christ says your heart will be where your treasure is and that treasure is Lord Hari and Tath, Advatham Roopam qualified by the adjectives of Tath, Tath means we have to understand, there is a word Tath, that means that and there is Idham, this one and this is called this, whatever is experienceable by the five sense organs is this, but Tath means what is beyond the ken, beyond the capacity beyond the power of the five sense organs beyond the ken of the mind itself from where the mind and the speech, much less the speech return back baffled because an effect can never return and understand the cause so Atyadbhutam refers to the most wonderful and divine cosmic body of the Lord, which he had revealed before Arjuna, by hearing pondering, singing talking, the virtues glories, exploits the divinity, greatness and the sacred names of Bhagwan Sri Krishna, Bhagwan Christ, Bhagwan Buddha everywhere, by perceiving and touching his form a man becomes rid of every possible sin not only he is rid of sin but he is also rid of the very causes of the sins, samskaras themselves will be completely destroyed, that is the power of Hari samsmritya, samsmritya remembering that beautiful, indescribable marvelous form and remembering see, even in this worldly life there are lovers for example genuine lovers once they meet and perhaps it is only for a short time the beloved becomes completely possessed of the idea of the lover the lover becomes possessed of the beloved and then she or he can never forget the beloved, the very remembrance of it, the remembrance of a child by a mother, the remembrance of a truly good friend, remembrance of a great master by the servant, the remembrance of a great servant a loyal servant by the master, this can never be erased from the very heart, it is a wonderful psychology, that means if we understand, why is our mind restless, restless means the mind remembering so many different things and if you enquire into why is the mind remembering so many things that's all because at some time they have given us a greatest impetus, impression, influence, either positively or negatively that's why Hinduism also helps a person, are you an enemy of God, then there is a better chance for you to reach him sooner than even a person who claims he is a lover he is a bhakta, he is a devotee so samsmrutya samsmrutya a very natural phenomenon, this is the purest psychology and one who has been in the presence of the lord even for a billy second he can in his whole life can never forget it this happened to, just I am mentioning it so that we can enjoy it Narada at the age of 5 lost his mother who died by a snake bite he was overcome with a tremendous amount of dispassion, then he wanted to take complete refuge in lord Narayana so he was initiated he went into the forest and he started this astakshari mantra Om Namo Narayanaya and very soon there was a flash like lightening, I get it in the Kena Upanishad, like a vidyatupasana, a flash of Narayana, that one seconds, it just lord Narayana's form appeared transformed the whole life of Narada and then it disappeared, Narada was grief stricken, oh lord why did you bestow upon this why did you withdraw it in a second I would like to see it again and again and again and a divine voice came down from heavens, said oh Narada I have bestowed it now this will never make you forget me and your longing by the minute will be going on increasing and very soon you will have my constant vision this is what happened to Sri Ramakrishna, when we study as a student the life of great master, that is Sri Ramakrishna's life as written by Swami Sharadhanji Maharaj, Sri Ramakrishna he was praying for the vision of the Divine Mother Kali and he was not getting it some experiences of course he was getting but he was not happy one day he decided to put an end to his life, he ran like one mad and at that moment this pure consciousness came like a huge tsunami and rolling waves surrounded him and this pure consciousness he says in funny language made me unconscious consciousness and made me unconscious, like Maitreya he complains to Agnivalikeya, you have led me into the greatest grief what is it, you said there would be no consciousness then Agnivalikeya had to clarify, you misunderstood my teaching, it is not that the small awarenesses, every single awareness that you are experiencing before this consciousness they all become completely merged into that pure consciousness, you yourself will melt away into it and your constant experience will be, I am that, Aham Brahmasmi Sri Ramakrishna wanted that, he could not tolerate one second separation from that divine experience he wanted it all the time and then he went on praying and of course the Divine Mother very soon showed him that one so one second separation Tat Virahe Paramavya, Tat Vismarane Narada Bhakti Mastra says Paramavya Kulatayati tremendous restlessness comes, like a child who becomes restless when he is separated from his beloved mother even for one millisecond this is called Samsmritya, Samsmritya he can never forget, he may not be seeing but he can never forget it and sometimes separation is advocated so that this remembrance goes on growing in tremendous strength and not only remembering that wonderful form which can never be forgotten not only that, even that marvellous conversation, it can never be also forgotten because in this world you will never get that kind of conversation in the whole world that is Bhagavad Gita so how do we know, it is most marvellous he says, so what did we do, how does it deserve the title called Atyadbhutam not only Adbhutam but Atyadbhutam and then what happened here are the changes that take place and we have to measure our spiritual progress not how long we do Japa, how long we meditate, because this dichotomy, this dual personality, split personality that when we sit for meditation, we are very very sincere, but this sincerity ends only as soon as we get up, like Sri Ram Krishna says, that as soon as the person comes out, all the sins are waiting outside the door and just like a person who goes to take bath in the Ganga as soon as he comes back all the sins that were waiting for him, eagerly how can we lose our friend with whom we are for so many aeons, the jump upon his shoulder and our selfishness our lust, our anger our desires, our hatreds, our attachments everything, our indifferences everything comes back and we forget until we sit for the next Japa Dhyana, this is the dichotomy this is the tragedy we should avoid, everybody after coming out of the meditation, now how can I reconcile, how can I harmonize my inner life with the outer life, this is the struggle only meant for sincere persons only a person endowed by God's grace with faith can continue this victorious struggle everybody falls by the roadside, at least for some time, not forever, so why was Sanjaya glorifying that vision, glorifying that conversation, he saw in front of his eyes, Arjuna the whole Bhagavad Gita starts with the first chapter, remember Arjuna Vishada Yoga that Vishada tremendous grief, he himself confesses, even if I get all the three worlds, any world, any worldly object any experience of the worldly object is not going to assuage my tremendous grief, please show me the way out, who can show, God only God can show God, nobody can show who can make us infinite, only infinite can make us infinite this Arjuna having heard it, he categorically replies, my delusion is gone, I know now I am not Arjuna, I am the Mahatma, I am the Paramatma and he who was grieving now is floating in joy, not worldly joy, but spiritual joy that means I will do what needs to be done as mere instrument in the hands of God, and then Arjuna specifically says Dharm Samud Cheta, my mind is completely confused what is right, what is wrong, and then he himself says, now I know Smriti Labdha I know that I am Brahman, there is no more delusion, and I will do I will never fight Nayocha Iti Govinda, Muktva Tushnin Babubaha Arjuna gave up his bow and arrows and simply slipped onto the floor Nayocha, I will never fight again, Iti Govinda, this is my final decision, and then the same man, he got up with a lark and then he took up the same Gandiva, he says O Lord, Karishe Vachanam Tava, I am going to do your bidding, because whatever I am now, is all because of your grace, so those Ahankara and Mamakara, that is I-ness and My-ness, I am Arjuna I am Pandavas, I am wronged by these fellows these are greatest unrighteous people they have to be killed, all these things have been completely destroyed, so that ignorance which covered his pure knowledge or even rationality has completely destroyed and then he who forgot his duties now he took up and said I will do my duties, but I am a pure Karma Yogi and he thought I am a man with body, but now I know I am Paramatma not only I know I am Paramatma Bhishma, Drona, Duryodhana, Dushasana, good evil, everybody is a Mahatma in truth and he who sat down, now he took up the horses reins in his hand that is completely self-control and this transformation within a few minutes by the teaching of Sri Krishna was completely witnessed by Sanjaya right in front of his eyes, as I said Gita did not take place 2 hours or 3 hours or 1 hour or half an hour because remember the battlefield Russia will not be waiting for Ukraine to discharge these things, before it does will do it, so we have to remember, rest is only complete exposition for the sake of Alpabuddhis Mandamathis like ourselves this is what is called remembering that universal form remembering those unforgettable conversations and they are again and again reminding me coming to my memory and I was most wonder struck, I don't have any merit to my credit but it is all because of the Sadguru's Kripa Yasak Kripa and above all it is all the Kripa of the Divine Lord Krishna so now Sanjaya is describing I don't know if such kind of description was coming like when we read the Gospel of Sri Ram Krishna we see in front of our eyes Sri Ram Krishna sitting, devotee is sitting, he is talking he is singing, he is entering into Samadhi again and again and that is the greatness perhaps there is no other book which can bring because this is something which M himself had experienced and remembered it again and again meditated upon it and what flowed in a most limited manner in the form of words and printed in the form of book is only probably one millionth of its effect but just understand when M was talking these things like Sanjaya was talking with his devotees and that's what he did after the passing away of Sri Ram Krishna from 1886 until his passing away in 1942 or 43 I don't remember exactly so even though I am trying to remember O Dhritarashtra O Rajan I do not have any Tripti I do not have any satiation that is why I cannot forget because I am not remembering the memory has overpowered me this is how this is a beautiful hint how should we study the Bhagavad Gita any scripture Bhagavad Gita means any scripture how should we listen how should we read how should we learn how to understand how to meditate so indirectly or rather I would say directly this is a most beautiful Suchana that is signature for us every human being if he wants to be happy if he wants to be successful in this world or in the other world worldly wise or spiritual wise it is how he will have to do it and then not only that the outcome of the battle can no longer be doubted that is going to be even more directly told at the face flinging as it were this harsh truth which Dhritarashtra never said there is something very interesting when Vyasa appeared before the war he said to Dhritarashtra I will also give you that power where sitting here you can see everything very strange answer came from Dhritarashtra said father Vyasa Deva he should of course address him as a Rishi Muni it is thank you for your kind offering but I cannot see the destruction of my own people that means his guilty conscience is 100% clear that the outcome is already known but he doesn't want to face it doesn't want to hear it only a mad man can do that so he said let me hear from somebody the effect of hearing is much less than the effect of seeing whereas Sanjaya was an impartial person Bhagawan's grace was upon him in the form of Vyasa so he can do everything so there is absolutely no doubt in fact it's a marvelous book is this Mahabharata when it is said Duryodhana himself went to his mother Gandhari who was a very virtuous type of woman very foolish woman very stupid woman like her husband she also became blind to Dharma and everything instead of showing the right way to her husband simply observing the life what is called a chaste wife's life however evil the husband is that doesn't show chastity at all chastity is truly a spiritual virtue not a worldly virtue so when Duryodhana went she blessed him and how did she bless he did not say you are my son you are going to get victory which is you are going to conquer you are going to come out victorious simply she said where there is righteousness there would be victory and that is being corroborated in the last shloka so this is what Sanjaya wants to tell Dhritarashtra all the time though he asked what happened in the battlefield what he was eager to understand to listen is are my children successful are they going to win the war or not but strange thing was when Sanjaya started already after the passing away of the Bhishma after the 10th day already more than 20 children of Dhritarashtra were completely destroyed by Bhima and others and that news also he gave to what is this old fellow blind fellow still expecting to see and Sanjaya continues Yatra Yogeshwara Krishna O Rajan Dhritarashtra where there is God Krishna Krishna is not Shri Krishna of the Vrindavana he is the Paramatma Sarva Bhuta Antaryami Antaryami he is the indweller of everything in this world not only living, non-living entire creation and he is a Yogeshwara Yogeshwara means he is the most powerful personality in the whole world because he is Ishwara and he is only running all these things and not only that Yatra Parthaha Dhanur Dharaha Parthaha where there is this wonderful wisdom Bhagwan represents wisdom in its highest form and where this recipient a sadhaka the apt student purified he wants something that is completely logical, completely rational, completely righteous completely pure completely spiritual when these two things come together what happens Tatra in that place Shri, first of all there would be tremendous happiness Shri means Aishwarya it is said but I would like to translate the greatest happiness will be there, Lakshmi means happiness, what will you do if you are a billionaire, you can't even digest 100 times boiled water also, what are you going to do with all your money most people cling to these things even though they are unable to even to digest what you call water, boiled water Vijayaha success, victory that there always will be there, Bhotihi all sorts of possessions any possession, you want to become a scholar, you want to become a musician, you want to become a poet, you want to become a sculptor, you want to become a writer you want to become a most marvelous scientist, you want to become a greatest administrator you want to become a greatest statesman what do you desire everything your desire will be fulfilled because you are with God, you are in God you are God that is the ultimate message, Vijayaha Bhotihi, all possessions anything you desire and merely such people do not desire anything, Dhruvanithi there will be permanent righteousness and Bhagwan in the form of law can never be transgressed by such a person, O Dhritarashtra, O stupid fellow, O blind fellow O ignorant fellow Mamavati, this is my experience this is my rational conclusion, now you will have to understand accept it and for 13 years this Dhritarashtra lived afterwards as a terrible mentally desolate state and even though this marvelous story I will recollect, recount in my next class but like a most miserable fellow inside longing, weeping for his dead sons along with his wife at the same time that he had not the courage until Sanjay himself will one day goad him and Bhima was indirect instrument for that so that we will see in next class, so this is the Charama Shloka, this is God, where there is Krishna, the Lord of Yoga and where Arjuna the builder of the Gandiva is there surely will be fortune, victory, prosperity and right conduct, such is my conviction and this is the last shloka and this is also otherwise known as Eka Shloki Gita, one shloka that is to say O man where you are a devotee and God is present and where you and God are in harmony, in proximity, in closeness all the effects, the results the fruits described earlier will be worse there is absolutely no doubt about it, we will discuss and then I will after completing this one, I will give you a short summary of the 18th chapter, after that I propose to give you an entire synopsis of the 18th chapters just for the sake of our recollection and then with that our blessed journey of this 18th which started several years back may Ramakrishna holy mother and Swami Vivekananda bless us all with Bhakti.
