So, that was like a Rishi's ashram, Thousand Island Park, and Swamiji had about 12 disciples, and funny thing that happened was, two disciples, ladies, only one man, he was a doctor, and every time Swamiji takes a class, he will sit, this man will sit and listen everything, and every time when class ends, so, Swami, it all means, everything is Brahman, because, you know, when we say, you take it round and round, it comes only to that, so, after few days Swamiji caught up, and then whenever the man enters into the room, here comes Brahman, and Swamiji has composed a song of the sannyasin there, at Thousand Island Park, and Swamiji had given sannyasa to two people, and that is at Thousand Island Park, Swamiji's teachings, which were recorded by one lady, it comes to be known as what? Most famous, like Upanishad, what is that you know? Inspired talks, and the greatness of this inspired talks, it is not a series of teachings, whatever comes to the mind, like aphorisms, that is why it is called inspired talks, and Swamiji had experience with Samadhi, OK, Richard, hopefully see you again, OK, see you, take care, so, he experienced Samadhi there, and because of all these reasons, Thousand Island Park, it was taken for rent for a few days, so why it is called Thousand Island Park, that whole area, there are thousand islands, you know, small, small, big, big, this is one of the bigger ones, and one lady, I forget the name, she hired it, and Swamiji was lodged there, what happened, many years later, nobody, I mean, we know that Swamiji stayed there and all that, suddenly somebody brought to the notice of Swami Nikhilananda, New York, that this cottage is for sale, it was for sale for a long time, nobody showed interest, because it is a remote island, and then the Swami went there, and the bargain and reduced the price, it was not in a very good condition, then he bought it, and then they identified the room where Swami Nikhilananda had really lived, that room now has become the shrine room, oh, I believe you, but it is beautiful to see also, the wonderful thing about this Thousand Island Park, every summer, July and August, here the Swami closes the New York centre, and everybody moves, excepting one person here in New York City, and everybody is there, only for two months, after two months it is shuttered down, that means every window, every door, because the storms come, snow comes, complete there is a way, seal it completely, nobody can go there, only for two months, July and August, and the peculiar thing in July and August, lot of people go on a holiday to Thousand Island Park, and all the people from Thousand Island Park, they go on holiday somewhere else, hiring their homes, you know that is the most marvellous thing, every home is for hire, I want to stay three weeks, four weeks, whatever, and some agreement, so much of money will be paid, and they leave everything, they trust, try it in Hyderabad, I heard in Kolkata what is happening, they are stealing whole homes, one lady, one of our devotees, she has a flat there, she went and found that flat no longer belongs to somebody, belongs to her, so she went and she was shocked, my flat, so somebody was living there, she went there and said, they said who are you, we bought this house, then who sold you, such company sold, she went to the company and challenged, he said no, it is ours, she said no I will show you, oh show me, so she went to that council registration, the whole thing has been changed, and many people, they can't fight because they have got all lawyers, the politicians are corrupt, and the lawyers are corrupt, and the builders are corrupt, everybody is there, this is the condition of India, now if you are weak, then you are gone, that is why you must have tremendous amount of sahishnuta, titiksha, you know what is titiksha, you know what it means, there is a suffering, there is a definition is there, this is the definition, sahanam sarva dukkhana, for beer, whatever comes, dukkha, apratikara purvakam, should not think, now I am not in position, when I grow up, I will give that fellow something like that, should not think, apratikara, not even think about it, then ok, I will not do anything to that person, but chinta vilapa rahitam, in the mind, why did this happen to me, and it should not have happened, I have not done anything wrong, this kind of thing should not be there, if a person has got the three qualities, first for beer, second don't think of taking a revenge, lastly don't feel bad about it, sa titiksha nigadyate, that is defined as titiksha by the great Shankaracharya, now take certain examples, two examples you take, example of Shri Ramakrishna's father, Shridhiraj, he was living in a village called Dehri, it is about 3-4 miles from the present Kamarpakur, and Shridhiraj was a well-to-do person, he had nearly 33 acres of wetland, just imagine, that means more or less very well-to-do person, you know the story, there was a jamindar, and he brought a false case against a poor person, but in those days they needed witnesses, so the witness he named, he wanted Shridhiraj to be a witness, but Shridhiraj knew that this jamindar is a wicked person, he brought this suit unnecessarily, so he cannot wear because he was a truthful person, so he refused, and because he refused, the jamindar had vowed, I will take revenge upon this person, so he brought after winning that case, because either through money or through threatens, I will see you, you know fear, this mafia you know America, what do they do, nobody can go to court against them and win, for the first reason is that they have got the strongest lawyers, because they can pay any amount of money, the best lawyers, they always, because they get money, second, if any witnesses come to stand, they give a warning, if you tell anything against us, we will kill your children, your family members, you will be finished, so there was one famous film has come, which is a real story, what is that, I am forgetting you know, about this mafia, Godfather, and you know what happened there was one film director, and these fellows wanted him to do some film, and he refused, and that film director had a very favourite horse, and ratara they cut the, and then somehow put it on his bed, when he woke up, he was sitting something wet, something sticky, and he said his favourite horse's head is there, after that he had to what is called yielding, there was nothing, these people how many people they murdered, they killed, and they monopolized the whole Chicago construction company, everything, practically every business, they will step in, either they say protection money, or they say we will take it over, you get out, whatever happened, how many people have been ruined by them, this mafia, it is impossible even to imagine, that was what happened, this Jamindar brought a case against Shudhiram, brought some false witnesses, and in one day Shudhiram had lost everything. So this is the worst part, now he had two children, two hands, the dress he had on, everything, his property, his house, of course there was no money, everything is lost, he had to walk three miles, now what was his mentality at that time, this is the point Swami Sharadanda discusses in his Leela Prashanda, great master, so the point is, did he feel Pratikara, the thought did not arise even, God will do something to him, that thought also did not come, what was his reaction, God has given, and God has taken away, I have nothing, he gave, he took away his property. So that was what happened, he was a great devotee of Ramachandra, we know so many stories, one day he went out to do, traditionally they are pujaris, they do puja, priestly activities, in somebody's house they do puja and whatever they give, they bring it, that is what Shri Ramakrishna refused, this rice and banana bundling, education, I don't want. So Shri Ram one day he went to do puja and he came, he was, they had to walk, it was very hot, so he was tired, he was lying down under the shade of a tree and he had a dream, in that dream Ramachandra appeared to him, said look I am lying here for a long time, nobody is taking care of me, will you please take me home and care for me. So this was a dream, Shri Ram thought he had a dream, but Shri Ram's dreams and Shri Ram's visions are not different, because it is fact. So we see the same thing in Gaya temple, what happened to him. So Shri Ram he woke up and then Ramachandra also showed him, I am in this place, a spot there, Shri Ram woke up, how does he know that there is a place, there is a hole and in that hole there is this Shaligrama, how does he know about it. So he looked around and he recognised, this is the place Ramachandra had shown me and he went there, still not believing, maybe he was imagining and then he saw there was this one Shaligrama and one snake is protecting that Shaligrama and he knew, Ramachandra he knew, so he put his hand there, the moment he put his hand in the hole, that snake disappeared and then he brought it. Then there are certain Lakshanas, characteristics, is it real Shaligrama or not. So there are so many, 6 faces, 8 faces and 12 faces like that, Mukha, Shanmukha, you know Shanmukha, in South India there is Shiva's son, Shanmukha means Shadmukha becomes Shanmukha, 6 faces, you know Karthikeya, Kumaraswami, Ayyappaswami, they call him all that, peculiar, the place is called Sabarimalai, Malai means hill, Tirumala means Tirupati, Sri, Tiru means Sri, Mala means hill, so Sri Parvata, that is what Tirupati Venkateswara, peculiar, Balaji, it is a female deity, so peculiar, you know what is the name, Balaji, Bala is boy, Bala is female name, they added one G, this is what Ramanujacharya, he transformed the female deity into a male deity, you know that Gayatri, Tirupati Venkateswara, Devi vigraha, she was a goddess, transformed by Ramanujacharya magically a woman transformed into a man, transgender operation on God, how do we know, because Swami Brahmanandaji, he visited South India, you know Kanyakumari, he had a vision of Kanyakumari, he went to Madurai Meenakshi, he had a vision of Meenakshi, then he went to Tirupati, what vision he had, vision of the Divine Mother, he was surprised, why did I have the vision of the Divine Mother, it should have been male figure, of course God doesn't have male or female, but according to the puja that we do, then he sent one Brahmachari or somebody, asked the priest why it is so, then the priest he told him, because this is true and that is why even today if you remove all the abharanas, ornaments and all those things, early morning you know they do the abhisheka, 3.30, then you will see lot of these female characteristics are there, including the rings here, so it is peculiar story, anyway we don't mind, if he or she gives what we want, that is all we bothered about it, we are not interested in anything else and that is what he is famous for, because he fulfils devotees desires, all desires, excepting one desire, he is in a great dilemma about one particular problem, if two opposing candidates appear before him, to make us win the seat, then he has a problem, but do you know how he solves this problem? This term you win, next term I will make the other person win, anyway this Karthikeya Swami in Sabari Malai, Sabari hill, that is where Rama was supposed to have met Sabari and attained Ayuja with Sri Rama, most wonderful story, but the point is this Sabari Malai, this Sanmukha Swami, he wanted to marry a girl and that girl rejected him, jilted him, ever since he made a rule, I don't want to see the face of any woman who is child bearing, you know that period, that is why no woman is allowed, a small girl can go, an old woman after this period is over, she can go, because you know the temptation is not there, so any marriageable, worthy marriageable woman, forbidden totally, that is how he maintains his Kumaratva, is he doing it with regret or without regret is a question, yes absolutely, very unfair I must say, not right, anyway so they are not allowed, very wonderful, I had a miraculous experience there, I told you, you know I had a desire to go to Sabari Malai, so I went to visit Trivandrum and there are two ashramas, Netayam and Trivandrum town, Netayam is on the hill, beautiful ashrama, small ashrama, so when I was there, one devotee came to stay there and I saw him and I expressed, I was talking, it would be nice if I could go to Sabari Malai, that devotee heard it and he told me, Swamiji, my house is only one hour away, so I will take you, so he offered me, wait, immediately, this is the miracle that has happened, you have to enjoy that story, so next day we decided, we will hire a taxi, we will go with the devotee to his home and spend the day time there because we have to go at night nearly 11 o'clock, then we reach it, we have to climb, there is no other way, three kilometres very steep, extremely steep, so next day what happened, the Swami arranged for me to go to see the village work, so he took me there, the devotee was also there, we went, spent some time, children, etc., we were returning back, while returning, before reaching the ashrama, the devotee said, Swami, we have to go to one devotee's house, I said why, because we are supposed to eat food and then start immediately, he said, yesterday night I went to that devotee's house, I forgot my specs there, how the coincidence happens, so I said, ok, that house is also nearby only, we went there and then the devotee, this devotee went into the house and told him and that devotee saw me and said, Maharaj, please step inside my house, I have no option, I didn't want but I had to go and then I said, you know, devotees stepping into devotee's house, late, or anything, God realisation also, it will be late only, so I went inside because such a good devotee and then he washed my feet and all those things, you know this is what they do, they don't wash quickly, they take their own sweet time and I was thinking, but you see, what was happening and then during that time, this devotee told, because he did not know that today we are taking Swami to our home, from there we will take him tomorrow, that night to Sabarimala, that devotee said, tomorrow is a very special day and you will not be able to see, my son-in-law is the police inspector in charge of that arrangements, I am going to give a letter to you, we really never thought about these things, he said, ok, give a letter, so we got the letter and thanked him, came to the ashram, took food, took the jeep, went there and we had some rest there and evening food we had, then the thing is, each one has to carry some special things, ghee and some coconut, rice, etc., so he prepared one small bundle and then we started, about 11 o'clock we reached that bottom of the Sabarimala and then we had to climb, we started climbing, you know, I was never accustomed, 3 kilometers, oh after some time getting tired and old Swami, when this Pruhanandaji is there, but he was more like that, he was accustomed, you know, by that time we reached, it was 3 o'clock, we saw from the gate of the temple there was an almost 8 mile cube, wow, it comes almost to Sarenguthi, where that Sabari, somewhere, I don't know, huge cube, I said, if we have to join this one, Pran Nikal Jaayega, then what happened, that later, the devotee said, you sit here and within 5 minutes he came with the police inspector, immediately said, Swamiji, you cannot join, even after 12 o'clock it is doubtful, you come to the police guest house, we will give you a room, take rest and take breakfast and at some time one of our police will come and conduct you there and so we went, took some rest, first class breakfast we had, Idli and Sambar and these things, Ayyappan's grace, you know, then police came at about 9 o'clock, simply within 5 minutes we were there in the presence of the Lord and beautiful darshan we had, by that time the crowd also has become less, he took us straight there, under there we call it, you know, shortcut, we call it shortcut, Sarenguthi is called shortcut to God, so we had wonderful darshan, then when we are having darshan, there was a young priest who belonged to the village of that, this devotee who took us there and immediately he came to know, you know, what devotion, he gave lot of prasad, you know, that tin prasad, panchamritham and all those things, very nice prasadam and he showed such a devotee of Shri Ramakrishna, any monk means he would be very happy and we had nice darshan, now we have to climb down, climbing down is a very, no, no, no, very pleasant, extremely pleasant, climbing up is difficult, climbing down is not that problem at all, within about 45 minutes we came down and it was about 1.30, fierce sun and you know whole night there was no sleep and this climbing and then we were waiting, we could not really sleep there even though we had and ravenously hungry and we came, our taxi driver was supposed to be, we gave instruction about 12 o'clock, 1 o'clock you come and go, look out for us and we came and were looking out for him, there is, everybody is coming and going, no driver and then we waited for about an hour and I could not even stand in that sun, you know, I was sitting down somewhere, dirty place, that is Indians, Hindu temple specially, inside the temple very clean, outside it, so I was thinking what shall we do and then what happened, that devotees whose village, he arranged a talk by me that evening, how to reach that place, driver is not there and we made announcement, you know, information office, three times or so announcement, nobody was coming, so I thought, your grace ends here, now our grace starts, so we started, four, five people were there, we decided, we will go to the bus stand which is about one and half miles away and then catch a bus, go to this man's village and then rest, I told him, I don't think I will be able to give any speech, I am not in a position, as we walked a few steps, the local, another police inspector from the village of this devotee was coming in a jeep, he saw that devotee, he stopped, uncle how are you and all, young man, then he told, this is our condition, Swami is like that, oh, don't worry, you start walking, I am going back, I will find out your driver and then I will come back, in five minutes he came back and said, I found out the driver and he is dozing or something like that, so he is coming immediately, as you walk, he will come across, so he saluted us and went back, as we weren't walking, within five minutes, the driver came, immediately we got into the jeep, it is about one hour's drive from that to that devotee's house, so you can imagine, we reached around 2.30 or something like that and I was dead tired, then what miracle happened, this is a miracle, getting a letter is a miracle and getting this inspector, suppose we did not see him, we would have gone to the bus stand and took a bus and then it would have reached somewhere, the whole program will be upset, so we reached, then I felt very tired, then I said, I must take bath, so immediately I went, miracle, the moment I took bath, all the tiredness is gone, then I told the devotee, go ahead with your program, then we had some food and we had some rest, about 4.30 or so, we went to, because the same day we had to return to Trivandrum, which is about another two to three hours drive, then we went to that school and I was really, I would have regretted because about one furlong from the school, all the students were waiting with flowers, they would have been so, because they did not know, as we were going, they were throwing petals, we went there, I had a talk, the Swami also gave a talk, then they gave us something to, some tea or coffee, something, I don't remember, then we started from there itself and then we went to another ashrama called Thiruvalluvar, around 8 o'clock we reached that ashrama and I had seen first time, from there again we started, by about 10, 10.30 we reached Trivandrum, net time ashrama, so if that devotee had not lost his misplaced respects, we would not have stopped, if we had not stopped, we would not have got the letter, if we had not got the letter, what time we would have darshan of Ayyappa Swami, whether he knows it or not, anyway, this is by the way. And the children wouldn't have heard you all speak, definitely, because if we had darshan at 12 o'clock, when would we have reached on the plane, probably 4 o'clock and by that time we reached, it would have been too late, so everything is a miracle, the darshan was a miracle, the prasad was a miracle, getting the letter was a miracle, seeing the sub-inspector was a miracle, so from there we said, thank you very much, now I know you exist, proof, it is true, sometimes we get our desires fulfilled and that is how our faith goes from lower state to a higher, strong, weak faith to strong faith. That is why Ramakrishna used to pray to mother, unless you show them something, how will they sustain their faith, and it happens, only thing is we forget that at one point God has saved us and remember only when he did not save us, to put it in a spicy way, we remember only when he shaved us, not when he saved us, yeah, that's the joke, why Krishna? Ananya has to go back to university, so we have to take him back, no, where is the university? In London, oh, so from here, Ananya, oh, so take him, leave him there, or drop him on the way and he will go on his own, yeah, yeah, then only you can have sound sleep, okay Krishna, we will see, okay Gayathri, bag on the staircase, so what was the mental condition of Shuddhiran when he was coming back from Dehre to Kamapu, because the future was totally a closed book book, he did not know what was going to happen, he had a friend there, what is the friend going to do, whether he will enter as a guest, yes, for a few days, the moment, what was his mental condition, Swamiji was describing, previously he had great Bhakti and faith in, now total, oh Rama, you have given, you have taken, I rely only upon you, with that faith he came to Kamapukur and of course his friend Lahas, immediately he entertained him and immediately he gave him one small cottage, which is now the present where Thakur was born, Thakur was not born, and he also gave him a small piece of land, about one and half bhigas or something and said, this is, I can give you, you start, and Shuddhiram settled down there and we know the rest of the stories, okay, this is one incident, what is it, sahanam sarva dukkhanam apratikara purvakam chinta vilapa rahitam, titiksha, all about we are talking only about you all this time, don't forget, titiksha, the second example is Ramakrishna, you know how much he struggled to have realisation, we know that how much his life was totally sacrificed for only sadhana, and at the end he had this throat cancer, you just imagine, how many years, 1886, 130 years back, what was the treatment, cancer means death, TB means death, there was no remedy, anybody, TB means radhu, in fact she passed away, she incurred TB, a very interesting story, I will tell you briefly that one also, so Shri Ramakrishna got this one, what should be his mental attitude, first of all, oh mother, I did not know anything excepting you, and is this what I get in the end, and very painful, but what was his outlook, oh mother, shakali, this is your will, you gave me realisation, that also was your will, you gave me this cancer, that is also your will, he suffered, one day a hole developed here, throat cancer you know, and the pus used to accumulate here, so holy mother used to take a small stick with cotton, wick we call it, and clean it, one day she could not clean, Shri Ramakrishna said, what is that, don't you clean hurricane lanthans, it is like that only, clean it that way, what was his attitude, mother has given, yes it is painful, she gave me happiness, she gave me also this one, and I have dedicated my mind to her, that's why when the devotees prayed to him, why don't you pray to mother that let this take away, then he said, I have long back given my mind to her, do you want me to take back that mind so that I can pray to her, because for prayer only it is the mind, I don't have my own mind, it belongs only to the divine mother, so he could not pray, but one day even Narendra Nath forced him, for our sake you have to pray, and he could not pray, cure me, he simply said, oh mother, see that like you know, a skeleton is there in the museum, like that to keep this body, and let a little bit of food go, because food could not, then mother should, why are you not eating through all these people, is it true, only through this particular mouth you have to eat, that was the realisation, so ultimately it is divine mother, and he had a vision at that time if you remember, one day he had a vision of the divine mother Kali, what type of vision, her neck was bent, then he asked, mother, why is your neck bent, then he said, she replied, that it is on account of your ailment, that means who is suffering, mother Kali, because Thakur and mother Kali were not different, and that's why when Thakur passed away, holy mother, first time anybody, oh ma Kali, why did you leave me and go away, that was the, she addressed Thakur as mother Kali, why did you leave us and go away, it's a marvellous, this issue about it, this is called Sahana Shakti, same thing, every direct disciple had to suffer, holy mother had to suffer, now the story of Radhu, very wonderful story, you know anybody who reads holy mother, it's a lie, who gave lot of trouble to holy mother, I don't think excepting Radhu, very few people gave trouble, it was the Radhu who gave the greatest trouble, so naturally we think, oh Thakur, why did you create Radhu to give so much of trouble to holy mother, but had there not been Radhu, holy mother would not have survived, you know the story, they say after Sri Ramakrishna passed away, holy mother was telling, what is the use of my living, he is not there, so what is the point of my living, how can I sustain my life without Sri Ramakrishna, then she had a vision, what happened, she had a vision of a small baby and then the baby was crying, Sri Ramakrishna told, this is yoga maya, hold on to her and you will live for the sake of devotees by the help of the yoga maya, this was the vision, but in which form this yoga maya will come, she did not know, she had a brother called Abhay and this Abhay was married and his wife gave birth to this Radhu, Abhay's wife had gone mad, so after that his death this Radhu was born and one day what happened, holy mother was there, this Abhay's wife was there, this baby, small baby, few months old, this girl, baby girl, one day this Radhu's mother, you know that madcap, her sari was trailing on the ground, she was going, this baby was crying ma ma like that and trying to follow the mother and she was not caring at all, like that she walked off, holy mother was witnessing the condition of the baby, she could not tolerate it, she ran, took up that baby, the moment she took up Sri Ramakrishna appeared and said I told you about yoga maya, this is this yoga maya, hold on to this, from that day she brought up Radhu as her own daughter and she gave endless trouble to mother, in our eyes, endless trouble, but really speaking that is the way she kept holy mother's mind on this earth, now she was born of yoga maya, now you know this story, holy mother was terribly attached, so many devotees misunderstood it, mother you appear to be more worldly than us, worldly means more attached, even we are not attached to our children like you are attached and she used to laugh off, because how could she explain, who is going to understand, if the Radhu is not there she would not be able to live, so in the end she fell sick, holy mother and then Sharath Maharaj in Udbodhan was trying to divert mother's mind and one day what happened this Radhu was married, she gave birth and this girl also was bringing this child also, her son was being brought up by holy mother, not only Radhu but Radhu's son, so what happened one day this child he was trying to crawl on to holy mother's body who was lying and she looked at him and said take this fellow away, I have taken off my mind from this, I don't want to be attached, tell Radhu to get out of this place, go back to Jairambati, she made arrangements, Sharath Maharaj heard it, when he heard it he remarked there is no way that holy mother's body will remain now because she has withdrawn her mind, detached her mind, you try once more, they tried, he said no I have withdrawn my mind, I am not going to be caught in this net, let them go away from here, she commanded and Radhu had to weep and go away with her son and Sharath Maharaj knew he is not going to live for a long time, so what happened holy mother passed away, now holy mother made arrangements for Radhu for her future life, I think in about 5-6 years she contracted TB and holy mother made Swami Ishanananda to be her sevak, so they decided, after all mother loved Radhu so much and they knew that in those days for TB there was no remedy, slowly they had to die, so why not Radhu be brought to Varanasi so that if she dies she will get liberation, so without saying anything they brought, admitted in our hospital and after 1 or 2 months Radhu called, it was called Varada Maharaj, nobody told her what she was suffering, you think that if I die here I will get liberation, you think I don't know what I am suffering from, you did not tell me I am going to die, I know I got TB, I know I am going to die, there is no remedy for this and you think that I will get liberation only if I die here, what foolishness, the mother who loved me so much, don't you think that she is going to give me liberation, she is giving liberation to everybody, do you think she is not going to give liberation to me, take me back to Jairambati because that was what mother made arrangement for me, they had no option, they had to bring her back to Jairambati and she passed away there soon after that, so she knew who she was, it was all Leela, this is the problem with us you know, so also Hajra, you know that Hajra story, Hajra, he was a very funny character, he gave lot of trouble to Thakur, he told lies also, but Ramakrishna said without this buffoon character this drama will not be spicy, our whole spiritual life starts only in Andhra Pradesh, you know why, all problems come with Ahamkara, this Kara is available only in Andhra Pradesh, Kara means spicy, very hot, so Ahamkara its origin is in Andhra Pradesh, so what is spiritual practice, Kara had to be removed, Aham cannot be removed because Aham is the pure existence, that cannot be removed, so Hajra knew, that is why Swamiji had to plead on behalf of Hajra, if you love me you will have to give liberation to this man, how lucky he was, he lived with Thakur, he saw Thakur day and night, but at the same time he did lot of japa and at the same time he was capable of telling lies, so one day Nagamahasaya came, first time, he came, he saw this man sitting there and then doing japa, he asked is Sri Ramkrishna in, he said no, Sri Ramkrishna had gone to Chandan Nagar, you will not get him, better go back and they thought why should a man tell a lie and as they were about to turn away, the door opened, somebody was beckoning come here and they went inside, found that it was Sri
