So, we are discussing the hymn by Swami Abhedanandaji Maharaj. The second one we have covered in our last class…

Gunahina-sutanaparadha-yutan, kripayadya samuddhara moha-gatan

Taranim bhava-sagara parakarim, pranamami param Jananim jagatam.

These last few words “pranamami param Jananim jagatam” is common for all the three. So, the second verse tells us we are all without good qualities. So, qualities are of two types. Even if one wants to become phenomenally successful in worldly life, one must have certain qualities. So, there are three qualities for success in world life there must be a definite goal and there must be concentration and there must be self-discipline, even for worldly life. Of course, success is not guaranteed to us, even if one has this. By success I mean immediate success is not guaranteed. But every karma must yield its result sooner or later. So, even these qualities come from where? From the Divine Mother herself. So, the divine Mother called prakruthi consists of three qualities, Sathva Rajas and thamas. all the three are very necessary for a successful living in this world; even tamo guna is necessary.

How? If a businessman is worried and cannot forget, then he won't be a successful person next time. So, every guna has got its own correct place. And it is the divine mother's grace some are given these qualities in abundant qualities. And if the divine mother doesn't give us, we become what? We become imbued with agnana either worldly agnana or spiritual ignorance with regard to worldly success or also spiritual success. So, when a person's buddhi understanding is not up to the mark, then he thinks he understands rightly, and he commits a lot of crimes. So one of the greatest things every religion points out especially Hinduism that most of us are suffering from our own misdeeds done in the past. This is accepted by everybody. the only difference is Hinduism extends it not only in this life but in the past lives.

Every other religion says whatever you have done earlier in this life that is sure to bear the fruit as you sow, so you reap that also is there. So aparadha-yutan, I have already committed. Once a deed is done, there is no way to go back and retrieve it or change it in any way. The only thing is we have to pray to Holy Mother. Two things that first of all, please forgive me and do not make me suffer for what wrong things I have committed. Second is to see that I will not commit it again. And how does she help us by giving the right understanding. Most people don't have the right understanding. They understand it I should not have put my hand in the fire. But next day they do it again.

Kripayadya samuddhara - so this verse can be understood also from the highest spiritual point. Oh Mother! Adya - the Sanskrit word adya means today. But here it means right now. Samuddhara uplift me. Kripaya by thy grace because I cannot demand. To demand something, I need to deserve it. I have not done anything to deserve your grace. And yet I have no other option but to beg your pardon. Moha-gatan in a way of speaking whether we do crime full activities or whatever it is all because of what? Moha.  What is moha? Understanding the wrong thing as right and right thing as wrong. And this moha comes from where? From the divine mother only. So in this sphere this moha belongs from the spiritual point of view that this whole samsara even if I am the right test person even if I am the most dharmic person in this world, Hinduism makes it very subtle but very big difference. What is the difference even the person who lives absolutely Dharmic life, he will get the result.

What is the result? it is called abyudhaya. Worldly happiness will come but not spiritual happiness. So that is the highest form of ignorance. It is only by Mother's grace we can get.

या देवी सर्वभूतेषु भ्रान्तिरूपेण संस्थिता । नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥

Ya devi sarva bhuteshu bhrantirupena sansthita | namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo namah |22|.

So moha-gatan. Then what is the prayer? Taranim – in Sanaskrit means boat. you take me across this ocean of the world.  Craft anything that takes one across over the water from one side to the other side is called Taranim.  But here the whole world is compared to an ocean. Bhava-sagara the same beautiful song –

भवसागर तारण कारण हे ।

रविनन्दन बन्धन खण्डन हे ॥

शरणागत किंकर भीत मने ।

गुरुदेव दया करो दीनजने ॥१॥

Bhava-Saagara Taaranna Kaaranna He |

Ravi-Nandana Bandhana Khannddana He ||

Sharannaagata Kinkara Bhiita Mane |

Gurudeva Dayaa Karo Diina-Jane ||1||

Who is Ravinadana?  - Yamdharma raja. Do you know why he is called the son of the sun. Ravi nandana why because with each rise of the sun our Ayurdaya we are going towards the death. From birth every sunrise is one day less in our Ayurdaya. What is our Ayurdaya? Usually it is hundred years. Sathayushmanbahva. But nobody believed it. No Hindu ever believed it. So why because you say sahtyabhdapoorthi sixty years it is equal to living one hundred years. That is why they do the celebration. And after that if I happen to live there is a bonus by God's grace. But sixty years if somebody lived purnayuhu - that is the celebration.  So Taranim bhava-sagara parakarim. So, what is the prayer? Oh Mother! take me across this ocean of samsara.  That means to say I don't want any enlightenment with regards to the worldly ignorance. i want to know who I really am and by your grace only I will come to know. That is what Bhagavan Krishna Also declared Sarvadhrman prithyjya mamekam saravamvrja. Ahamthva sarvapapebyo – I will remove save you from all papas. If somebody saves you from a particular papa you have committed. then what happens is you are free only from that particular papa. But there is no guarantee that you are not going to commit the same mistakes again. Why because the root is not removed. The root agnana must be removed.

And when a person by mother's grace he understands what the root of all of us is. It  is we are atmans. we have come from the divine mother. The moment we come to know about it we become completely free at that moment even if we do that one. yesterday we discussed that point. Even the question that comes is even if a person is jivan muktha has become free, but he'll be walking he'll be eating he'll be doing so many things. Interesting fact also is there at all what does a person eats. Does he eat, nonvegetarian? is it only vegetarian after God realization. You know what is different in fact it all depends upon what one was accustomed before got realization. Did Sri Ramakrishna stop eating fish after God realization? No. He   did not give it up; that's why even today fish is offered to him.

So, if somebody is an arctic area what do you think will be offering to Sri Ramakrishna shark meat, not goat’s meat that there are no goats there. In arctic area there are no goats. Why there are no goats? Because goats do not live on fish. They live on grass and grass doesn't grow there as simple as that. So nothing will be changed. No habits will be changed. The only saving factor is supposing Sri Ramakrishna is alive and you offer him idly sambar. Would he like it? I want you to think. what do you think he would like it. moory and behenbhaja he would prefer. Definitely Holy Mother would prefer only. And kothsu. But now anything can be offered. Why? Because there is no body. All these habits belong to previous body. This is a fact which you have to know before realization what was the body after realization the body will continue.

So if Andhra avakaya if you give to Sri Ramakrishna he will never come down from samadhi. Because his body simply is not accustomed to that type of food. So these are the things which you have to understand. Because South Indians have a peculiar idea if a person is not a vegetarian, he would not progress in spiritual life. It has nothing to do with vegetarianism or non-vegetarianism. It is all a matter of local habit and availability simply like that. Five thousand years back our ancestors were eating dead elephants. Dead elephants. No cooking business. I mean before the cooking was discovered is to go just scoop it up and eat. Did you know that? So that is why when food material is getting rotten, it is knowledge.

But in the knowledge there is some food material which is decomposed. That means it is dangerous; it is poisonous; you should not touch it. Otherwise, that smell was not there we will do distinguish between what is fresh and what is decomposed. But at one time that decomposing decomposition smell is an invitation for food. There was no cooking there. Nobody discovered fire. An animal which is killed freshly cannot be digested. Very tough. So when it starts getting decomposed that is the right time for a human being or other animals to go, especially human beings. To go and eat that for already it has become soft by some other bacteria and other creatures. We have forgotten that fact. So in any case this is the smell of the decomposition it means a rotten smell. At one time it was a lifesaver now also it is a life saver only in a different way both ways.

But what are we talking about a jivan muktha’s body ,before god realization. It was whatever it was accustomed to it will be the same. Another example. Supposing there are people in arctic area they can stand very heavy cold not like us. But if any one of us especially from Chennai has to be transported to Arctic area even in summer season. Even summer seasons are very very cold there, freezing cold. The ice in never melts you know that. He will freeze. Similarly, if a polar bear has to be brought to Chennai within two days it will also give up its body.

So what is the point I am talking, jivan muktha’s body is a body it is accustomed to certain types of climate food and it cannot survive. so long as it is there we have to provide those particular type of things only. But once the person body is given up then you can offer anything. you can offer fish meat something input it doesn't matter because it's a disembodied state. Anyway coming back to our subject oh mother I am full of these bad qualities or what is called qualities which only keep me in this samsara. I'm praying to you please out of your grace come and save me right now and I cannot do anything good because my understanding is warped understanding.

Whereas you are the boat that can cross it. What is the boat here? Knowledge. So what is the antidote for ignorance. Knowledge. So if you bestow one ray - jnananjana Vimala nyayna veekshane mohajoy - just one glance of Sri Ramakrishna - you don't need a hundred glances. Just one glance. That is enough. There  are  beautiful names given through the divine mother. Meenakshi, Kamakshi.  Akshi means eyes. What is kamatchi? Full of fulfillment. Any devotee says I want this, immediately that mother will look at him full finished fulfilled. So Meenakshi what is the meaning of Meenakshi. Meena means what? Fish. So if it is said fish doesn't have the eye lid. It is always open. The Divine Mother is always open if she closes her eyes for a moment the whole ,world will be destroyed. so she's ready to fulfill your desire and also she can't close because we have to sleep. Divine Mother can't sleep.

So what happens we are awake during our what we call daytime. What we call our daytime is what time in the other side of the globe. Night. So their daytime is our night time our daytime is their nighttime. So if the divine mother is here only and she could go to sleep during night time because we are also sleeping. But that is the daytime for them. What will happen to that part of the world? So she has to keep awake her eyes all the time that is why she is called Meenakshi. But anyway sometimes you can make fun a little. Mean + akshi - English word mean. Why because if she doesn't fulfill my desire she is mean actually mean. okay.

Oh! Mother, I offer my salutations to you. I surrendered myself to you. You are the mother of the whole universe. Pranamami param Jananim jagatam. You are also beyond this world you are also mother of this universe. We all belong to you. We have a lot of unfulfilled desires please fulfill the desires. Because not that she wants them only to go to heaven. It is like an insistent child. Once that desire is finished then they will automatically go to the next to desire. That is where katobanishad tells it  so beautiful which we will start ,after this is over. So  what was the first boon let everything be happy in this world. what is the second boon let me go to heaven and be happy there and after that what is the third boon this heaven on earth is all temporary things let me have self-knowledge which is eternal.

But nobody can say I have a choice so only a wise person who all his earthly desires  are fulfilled all his heavenly desires are fulfilled then only he will be in a position to desire I have gone through this I know what they are and they do not fulfill my desire only for that person. so it is there is no choice there really speaking we have a child will want only childish desires young person will want only young person's desires it is only the vedantin that wants vedanta.

Vishayam kusumam parihritya sada, charanam buruhamrita shanti-sudham

Piba bhringa-mano bhavaroga-haram, pranamami param Jananim jagatam.

And  the spiritual aspirant sadaka is addressing his own mind. What was he doing until this time. Oh! Mother, I am praying to you fulfill my desires. Now what he is telling you have given me a little bit of knowledge out of your grace. So what I want to now is grant me that capacity to deserve your grace. So here is a very important fact. That fact is receiving God's grace and retaining God's grace are two separate issues. Many people can receive God's grace but cannot retain them. Biggest example is Arjuna himself he begged for God's grace we get it in the eleventh chapter. And he obtained God's grace but he could not retain it. he prayed frankly I am not capable of beholding this terrible sight. What is the sight everywhere destruction.

So why did he not have that kind of vision. Why because where was he having first of all the vision in a battlefield. Battlefield is meant for what purpose is the battlefield meant to save life or to take away life. And who is the greatest hero in the battle. Whoever can kill as many numbers of people as possible he will get the highest reward. but you know the peculiar thing that is the best place for practicing karma yoga. Do you know why even the greatest soldier who kills the greatest number of people. what is one then you will not get the credit. Who gets the credit?  Between India and Pakistan there is a great war. And so many Indians they give up their lives and win the battle.  what would be the news? India had won. Nobody will mention the soldiers’ names there. If it is two kings this particular king had won the war.

So that soldier he must be practicing from the very beginning nobody is going to mention my name. And at the same time  have expendable objects. So every soldier is what? Expendable, understand expendable. Sacrifice them that is the way they are all goats sacrifice after sacrifice only there. have you ever seen a king going on doing this. but in Kurukshetra war it is different. The kings themselves they have to be at the forefront. Not now. No. The commander in chief will be somewhere in the camp. He will never come to the forefront. Anyway, what is the point we are bringing it arjuna was in that situation. So what was he saying a life as a holistic attitude. What is life? There is birth and there is some sustenance and in the end there is a death. Can there be life without death?

Can there be death without life? This is the greatest fact even modern science has discovered part of that fact at life and death are not real. Life and death are not real. And what are they manifestation and non-manifestation are you able to understand? What I am going on talking. So that is why they say there is matter cannot be created matter cannot be destroyed. But what can be done. It can be manifested. So when matter manifests in one way we call it a table. If it comes in the form of a human body it is called birth. And when that manifestation ceases to be manifestation it is called death. So nothing can be destroyed whatever is its body is made up of that material will go back to its original shape.

When a ring is destroyed golden ring is destroyed is gold destroyed or ring destroyed. That means you are there is no object called ring it cannot be destroyed simply the shape is reshaped and then again reshaped into something else that is called manifestation and un-manifestation.  Even from the scientific point of view also. So  Arjuna  held that it was terrible what is it everybody was entering into the divine lord kala that was what Sri Ramakrishna  had that beautiful vision. When he was moving around on the Ganges banks of the Ganges suddenly he saw a most beautiful young lady coming out of the Ganga. And she came and sat on the bank of the Ganges and suddenly Sri Ramakrishna  had in front of his eyes this transformation is taking place. that she was found with baby with a child and next second she gave birth to the child next second she was suckling the baby.

The greatest love when that mother was a young lady was a mother now was looking at the baby all the love that is possible for a human being was being reflected manifested in that face. And the next second she took up that baby put it. Where, in her mouth and like that she was mashing it and swallowed the whole thing and then slowly entered into the Ganges and disappeared. what was this version of Sri Ramakrishna  Srishti sthithi vinasanam … this is a fact going on every milli second. Billions of creatures. creatures mean not only human beings even cells in our own body constantly this renewing factor is going on. Renewal also coupled with death so many cells are dying so many cells are being regenerated and that is how we feel that nothing is happening we are alive.

But  a day will come the body becomes incapable of reproducing and that is what we call death. That is what we called death but nothing happens there is no nonexistence. It   goes into unmanifested state. This is the truth about it. so when a person comes to know about this then his mind will remain calm.  Then he would not be attached to the world. The moment he will come to know anything is temporary and they know what is The curious fact is no man wants anything temporary. No man wants anything temporary. So suppose a young man meets a young woman and he asks her do you love me. She says yes. How much do you love me? This much. How long? For one second only I will love you after that I  won't love you. what will that young man will his love continue. The fact is that what she said is absolutely true. But we don't want to accept no no I will love you janma janmantra you lonely love you what gentlemen mantra next to the second where the mosquito bites you. Where?  Where?  Where is it? where is your mind.? That is a fact it is impossible for us and yet we expect the impossible to happen. Once we have that understanding then we will develop terrible vairagya towards the world. and then only what is the next stage and that is the beginning of spiritual life.

Vishayam kusumam parihritya sada:- Oh mind!  kusumam means flower. Vishayam every object of enjoyment appears to be a very desirable fragrant filled with the nectar  is a flower. Beautiful flower. So, mind now you understand the truth everything in this world is liable to destruction. So parihritya sada - what is parihritya “give up”. What  does give up means? That you will not smell a flower, you will not taste a sweet and you will not have nice rest at a good bed. No. Do all those things. But knowing your heart of ours nothing is. with that knowledge you just live. So, the root cause of every object in this world is our body and mind. Our body and mind. There is no world other than our body and mind - there is no world. So, all our attachment to any object of our own body. Some of you say I love sweet. I love.

Do you really love laddu or do you love your tongue. I love my tongue and this laddu  caters to the whims of the tongue therefore really speaking, tomorrow if that laddu gives me bitter taste then I will not hesitate a single millisecond to throw it out isn't it. So, if your object in this world is not worth developing any attachment but this we will come to know after many, many, many births only. Oh! Mind !! Give up everything. Then what am I supposed to do all this time I'm accustomed to dwell to meditate to think about love to be attached to all these objects now you are asking me to refrain to withdraw the mind from those things. What am I supposed to do? Charana amburuha amrita shanti-sudham Piba bhringa-mano bhavaroga-haram  and honey bee.

Now become a honeybee. Previously you were a fly. You are sitting sometimes on a beautiful flower sometimes some filled. But now you become a honey. What is the honey? What does honey bee do it will not sit anywhere excepting only where there is beautiful honey. It will only sit there. oh, mind try to become a honey bee.  Then what  does the honeybee do?  It sucks nectar from every flower. But here there is a flower which used the nectar. So that is what the divine mother's lotus feet. charanam buruhamrita shanti-sudham. So a beautiful nectar is coming out of the lotus ,feet of the divine mother. And what is this nectar that is coming out shanti sudam sudha that means nectar.

So this word nectar English word has got a Sanskrit equivalent  and it is called Amrutha. What is the meaning of mrutha - liable to destruction. Amrutha means non destruction. beautiful story of the samudera manthana in baghavatham we get. So there was once devas & demons they were advised by Lord Krishna to churn the ocean of milk and then ultimately what will come Amrutha will come.  What is the benefit anyone who gulps  who eats who drinks that amrita  becomes immortal. What are we talking about is it some material something to be drunk. no it is called  pebare ramarasam  knowledge what the knowledge I was never a human body never a mind. I am always the pure consciousness. Sachidananda swaroopam. Shivoham. Shivoham.

It is this knowledge that is called Amrutha only by proxy this is called you drink you become temporarily intoxicated and then you will overcome some problems mental problems and then afterwards you come back to the same state. So there is a spiritual significance for these stories. Anyway I will not go into it today. But just a hint. Every story in the puranas has a normal meaning. It has got three levels of meanings are there the first meaning applies to the ordinary world. But what does it mean it means even an ordinary worldly  point of view no worldly  person wants to suffer. He is after temporary happiness and if you follow certain rules regulations you will get temporary happiness.

But these scriptures also tell us something much deeper than this world. But it is there is also some other higher world is there. not a spiritual world there is there are higher worlds out there that is why if somebody does practice dhana that means a donation. Dhravya yagna thapoyagna  yoga yagna we discussed it earlier in the fourth chapter. So through the sacrifice of those things a person can go to a much much higher life than what can be obtained in this miserable lower world. so that is what is being told here Amrutha but this Amrutha  what does it do it is not an ordinary. it is called bava roga haram it completely destroys this is called agnana bava. That means there will be no more birth there will be no more death this would be the last life. That is what we  so we also starts Sri Ramakrishna  stotram  kandana bava bandana.

Sri Ramakrishna, God incarnate says as a human being not for giving ordinary solutions but he does that too. for children he gives toys. For adolescents he gives electronic toys. But for grown up people he will give that knowledge through which they need not be reborn again because God has to fulfill four desires. He has to give us how many four fruits what are those four fruits. Dharma, artha, kama and the moksha according to the stage of our development. So the mind is being addressed by a devotee oh my mind become a honey bee. Give up. quibbling from all sorts of wrong types of lovers means objects of enjoyment in this world were only objects.  Give up worldly objects then what am I supposed to do? Sada all the time charanam buruhamrita shanti-sudham – drink.

What to drink? so that there is a nectar. It is called bava roga haram. It  completely destroys all the samsarah with its very root. And where from this Amrutha comes from the lotus feet of the divine mother. What does that mean lotus feet. It means if you surrender yourself at the feet of the divine mother she will give you the knowledge. What is the meaning of surrendering oneself? Surrendering means the ability to receive is called a surrender. It is not simply saying it  through the mouth. I surrender myself to you. Mother wants to give. Now interesting question does she want to give only after you pray or even now she's ready to give. See, a baby is sleeping. what do you think mother is doing? Twenty four hours what is the mother's duty? she is thinking only so how can my child baby how can she eat other what can be given to it. And after that where is she going to sleep and how to protect this baby from flies and mosquitoes and from enemies and everything twenty four hours where is her mind. On the baby what do you think the divine mother is doing twenty four hours. with unblinking eyes she's only thinking about the welfare of the children but are the children ready to receive what the mother wants to give. So that act is act of surrender. what is the act of surrender? The ability to receive what the mother has already decided to give you.

She is ready to give. Sri Ramakrishna’s words are very deep he says the breeze of God's grace is ever blowing. And then he added something what did he add. Unfurl yourself.  But what does this unfurling do? Suppose there is no breeze what can unfurling do? Nothing happens. But if the breeze is already blowing and you unfurl your sails then the sails will take advantage of that. And it will take you to the destination you want to reach. So oh mind give up attachment to all these worldly things turn your mind towards the divine and your life will become meaningful. Then there are these three slokas and the last three slokas they can be sung with rhythm with the tabla etc but there are in between four. So three plus three plus four six plus four ten the middle four.

you know there is also a poetry called “prose poetry”. are you ever a prose poetry but someone is called vachana – means prose. But that vachana also is a composition beautiful composition. Have you heard about

ullavaru shivalaya maaduvaru naanena maadali badavanayya,

enna kaale kamba dehave degula shirave honna kalashavayya

Koodala Sangama Deva kelayya sthavarakkalivuntu jangamakalivilla

beautiful is a all these Basavanna & all they all belong to devotees of Lord Shiva. He is telling all over those who have wealth they can construct a shiva mandhir. What can I do but I am a poor fellow. I don’t have any wealth.

so what can I do I will construct a beautiful temple to you my body itself I will turn into a temple. My head is there. my head is that beautiful golden kalasha how, about. say so beautifully composed.  my legs are the pillars in the shrine. By the way I will not go into that subject today. But every Hindu temple is based upon a model of a human body. Every Hindu temple is based upon the model of a human body if you see that a human body is lying down. Then the head is they sanctum sanctorum. And there will be seven prakaras. What are the seven prakaras? Seven chakras. Seven chakras and the lord always resides only in the where? heart Chakra.  to check you know how to check because worship cannot be done  in sahasrara chakra you will not be there you will become one windy. It can be done only in meditation pooja thinking and hymns all these things are possible only in the heart chakra.

So, if you make a person lie down as you will get that all the seven chakras. That is why Ranganatha temple in Tamilnadu be the best representation of human body perfect human body anyway this is just a hint for you.

So here the aspirant is on our behalf you know Kripam kuru mahadevi suteshu pranateshu cha. Oh Mother kripam kuru bestow your grace. Be always gracious. Mahadevi. pranateshu cha sutheshu - to your children who are ready to surrender themselves to you because all are  even Ravanasura is also her child Hitler is also her child so all these congress  party people are also her children only. Mamatha also is her child only.  mamata tu nagayi  mere man te..aur  Mamata tu nagayi Bangladesh se..

ममता तू न गई मेरे मन तें॥

कफ पित बात कंठपर बैठे सुतहिं बुलावत करतें।

Thulasidas’ beautiful composition. Mamata – oh  attachment. aham means  I and mama kara is a called mamtha. tu nagayi mere man te - you are still attached to this world Any meaning of it. I'm just pulling your legs a little bit. So oh mother Kripam kuru mahadevi suteshu pranateshu cha this is important. Pranateshu is not simply bowing down. By your development of certain spiritual qualities then only we will be able to receive her grace even for worldly things also. You know you have to develop certain qualities alertness. So if you want to be successful in business you have to be very alert in certain if you are a sleeping person can never become a successful person. By the time you open his eyes stock market has already gone down. So he has to be like an owl that is why owl is the biggest. vahana for Lakshmi Devi.

Charana-shraya danena - what do I want from you that I want that you will grant me your lotus feet. Charana-shraya danena kripa-mayi. You are an embodiment of kripa compassion. namo'stute salutations to you.

Lajja-patavrite nityam sarade jnana-dayike

Papebhyo nah sada raksha kripa-mayi namo'stu te.

Lajja-patavrite nityam the divine mother is always weighed with the veil of Lajja.  What is this Lajja? Through this Swami Abhedanandaji  is telling us two important factors. For every very woman what is the greatest ornament? Modesty. Lajja  means what? Modesty. You have to be modest. Not to be a slut. Not go on exhibiting look how beautiful I am. The more you exhibit your beauty the more you become a public property. It is all your body mind and soul is meant only for one person. Who is  that person? God only.  The divine mother but if you are a worldly person then it should be to the person if it's a ,woman ,is for her husband. If it is a man then it is for his own wife.

So there is no such discrimination women should not decorate themselves. But men are free to do it. No. If we are dressing for the sake of drawing other people's attention from a lower point of view we are committing a crime. We are in fact committing athma hathya. Why because by that very fact we are bringing our mind to the level of the body and we are also trying to pull other people's mind to the level of the body only. This is it the greatest aparadha or crime anybody can commit; by the way in this world the greatest crime anyone can commit is called pragna apradha.  Pragna means knowledge self-knowledge.

So the moment we become ignorant of our self-knowledge not only spiritually we are away but also even mentally we become sick. If we want to be healthy mentally then we must have what knowledge psychological knowledge. What I am? a baby must know I'm a baby. A grown up person must know I am a grown up person. Everybody must know what a person is and then only his behavior will be in accordance with that. So the divine mother is always veiled. Veiled by what? Is  she veiled or are we veiled? My  eyes are covered. The divine mother cannot be covered. But I am looking at her. Because of my defects so she appears to be covered.

Literally speaking for holy mother  this is a hymn addressed to the holy mother. Holy  Mother used to cover her head always. Very few people ever see. Funny incidents were there. When   Swami Saradanandaji  who served her she never appeared to him without a veil. He wanted to see her face how her face looks like? But she never allowed. One day when she was unconscious he happened to go there and see her face. Other times she never allowed to see. He used to make she treats me like her father-in-law like that. but for many initiated disciples and other she was completely free. In Joyrambati  she was completely free. Only in Calcutta the veil will come.

Anyway what is this lajja called?  Modesty. What is it? If we are not pure we won't be able to recognize her as our mother. so we have to develop that purity then she's always available to us we know this is my mother. Saradeh. What is her name? In south India it's called Sharadha.  In North India it called Saradha.  So sha and sa  there is no difference. what is the meaning of sharadah saradha?  who gives sarah sarah means real knowledge? Real knowledge she is Saraswathi. Another name for saradha is Saraswathi. Saraswathi is the Goddess of real knowledge, wisdom.

Whether you want worldly knowledge or spiritual knowledge she is the one to give it to you. Oh Mother you are Sarada your only incarnation. Only for one purpose. What is that purpose? Gnana Dayike. You want to grant knowledge. Now the question is what type of knowledge? If an artist wants what type of knowledge you want? Artistic knowledge. If a scientist wants what type of knowledge? Scientific knowledge. If a businessman wants what does he want? Business knowledge. If a stockbroker what is his knowledge. What is going to be the value of stock tomorrow, day after tomorrow etcetera. Yes, there are some people who are wise enough. Divine Mother rescues. They never fail. That fellow everybody is supposed to follow him.

And. ah. and there are two three people out there. So later in America they are very wise people. And if you really follow them, you will not lose. So they want to advocate to you wild type of trading in these stocks. So you must be cautious. Should not have too much of ambition and you should proceed in a particular way and they will give the advice to you. But according to me that you are not going to work not work. your own prarabdha karma alone will work. Let's say it's going to work. So oh Mother you are a giver of knowledge.

Papebhyo nah sada raksha kripa-mayi namo'stu te. Always save us from all sorts of papas. We have already committed many uncommittable unpardonable crimes.  So now consequences ought to be accepted by us and we did it. Now we have become a little bit away convinced. Mother unconsciously unknowingly we have committed. You are the only refuge. Please save me so that we do not need to suffer so much but more important is do not veil our minds again. So, you give that knowledge that discriminative power so that in future we will never again commit the same mistakes. In future we will be wiser people. That is the meaning.

Papebhyo nah sada raksha kripa-mayi namo'stu te. Holy Mother used to say that if somebody takes refuge in God. Then if something huge has to be gone through that person has to go through very small amount. Here is something wonderful we have to understand it. Every time we are in trouble mother you told me this one. About to go through a lot of agony will you kindly allow me out of your grace they make me help me escape from this. Will she do it? Yes, she will do it. But a condition had to be fulfilled but the condition mother I have committed wrongs unknowingly. From today I will never again repeat it. If we give that promise to her then she will make her go go through it a smaller way. And we will be saved. But without doing that you save me from this but next week I'm ready to repeat the same crime, that is not going to work out. So, this is the meaning.

Papebhyo nah sada raksha kripa-mayi namo'stu te. Where an embodiment of the most of the salutations to you. Then what is the nature of this Holy Mother. Ramakrishna gatha pranam she is not separate from Ramakrishna. Her prana is Ramakrishna’s prana. Ramakrishna’s prana is her prana. Sri Ramakrishna. Tannama-shravana-priyam.  What is the most-dear thing to the holy mother? Thannama - then she loves to hear the name of Ramakrishna only because she and Ramakrishna were totally abheda.

Tadbhava-ranjita-karam holy mother is completely permeated by the same knowledge as Ramakrishna. thath bhava – Sri Ramakrishna bhava. What is the Ramakrishna bhava he was an avatar. what is the holy mother? She is also an avatar. this is the first time yugadharma pathrim -  she had bogged she had shared the mission of an avatara previously never. Indirectly  they did. Sita also participated in Rama’s Avatara. In what way as an instrument. and many others also have done that one whether it is Rukmani or Radha or Yashodara buddha’s wife  all. but this is the first time Sri Ramakrishna  categorically told I am leaving you behind you have a lot of work to do and what was he doing she is participating in the uga dharma by instructing by inspiring by consoling by making all the children who are very honest and sincere as her very own.

Tadbhava-ranjita-karam pranamami muhurmuhuh. I salute your mother again and again and again. So when we are saluting such a holy mother whom are we really saluting Sri Ramakrishna because this is what is..

Ramakrishna-gata pranam tannama-shravana-priyam. Tadbhava-ranjita-karam… she has become identified totally with Sri Ramakrishna and physically also there were so many instances.  In Brindavan when holy mother was there one day she was preparing this betel leaves. And then what the devotees observed they were astonished. that Sri Ramakrishna was also preparing he had a peculiar way of preparing pan and that day holy mother was preparing pan unconsciously in Sri Ramakrishna’s way.

Then they asked mother what are you doing? This is not your usual way. Oh!  Is it so? I  did not realize it. Unconsciously she became identified think like that. And one day she became totally identified with Sri Ramakrishna her very voice has changed. Ramakrishna’s voice was coming over with a Holy Mother. A woman has a distinct voice from a man's voice. But they found out that she became completely one with Sri Ramakrishna's voice many times and she was in an ecstatic mood. She would do her facial appearance her certain of her gestures postures appeared to be like completely like Sri Ramakrishna’s  own.

Tadbhava-ranjita-karam pranamami muhurmuhuh.

Pavitram charitam yasyah pavitram jivanam tatha

Pavitrata-svarupinyai tasyai kurmo namo namah.

So, whose life is nothing, but embodiment of purity holy mother used to pray she said at night looking at the moon. or moon God. Oh  God even in the moon there is a stain. But   let there be no stain in my purity absolutely but with the dash opinion but with trump her whole life her behavior her thoughts her words purity. Pavithram jivanam thatha  whole life is true only to lead the purest of life of all the purest of activities anybody can do is at when Sri Ramakrishna asked her first time holy mother came to Dhakshineswar  she was having fever high fever. And in that state she reached and Sri Ramakrishna had made adequate arrangements for curing her feverishness etcetera.

Then Sri Ramakrishna one day asked look here I know where you have come. This is the lifestyle I have chosen. I am married to you. So I have no right. Arbitrarily I have to take one particular lifestyle because previous that every husband says I will do what I like. If I want to live with you I will live. If I want to become a monk I will not need your permission. I decide whether I want to become a monk or not. No one was ever used to take permission of his wife. But what was Sri Ramakrishna doing. We are married. I cannot take another lifestyle unless you permit it wholeheartedly. I'm asking you this is what I would like to do. What is your opinion? Would you like me to live a different type of life if you wish? I will comply. I will follow. Where did you get in history one single example where a husband has asked his wife that is permission without your permission, I cannot do anything. Please tell me what I should do I should not do?  you get any example.

This is the first time and then what was her famous reply? I have not come here to deviate you from the part of spirituality. But I also wanted to follow the same lifestyle. Permit me to follow your footsteps and she became his first disciple. Again, this is the life style that we get in the Upanishads. Yagnavalkya  asked his wife Mythraeyi so you can take my wealth and you can live a wealthy life. She said no you are taking a lifestyle so you are quite rich and you are renouncing all these things. Definitely nobody will take a worse lifestyle. You are taking a I'm sure a better lifestyle. So why are you leaving me to this third class lifestyle when you decided to take a first class lifestyle. And then she said I don't want all these things. I want to follow your footsteps that story is being repeated here in the modern times in Sri Ramakrishna’s life. No. I don't want to pull you down. I want to follow you and he initiated her.

There are so many incidents of how do you look upon me is it mere words or you really mean it? Yes.  I look upon you as mother kali she replied and she also was knowledge she asked him how do you look upon me as your ignorant wife. He said no you say mother who is in the temple say mother who has given birth to this body. I consider you. the same Anandamayi MAAA…Sarada Devi. And he maintained that attitude throughout his life. So later on she was telling I was so fortunate to get a husband who never hurt to me even with a flower. To get this this kind of certificate from a wife is an extraordinarily difficult thing. Not only he is a good husband how do we now ask anyone do you want the same husband again next life. Don't answer. Ask the question and I'll give you the answer. If you say yes I want the same husband and then you really give certificate that he is a very desirable person. Pavitram charitam yasyah pavitram jivanam tatha and your whole life you maintain that absolute purity and as a result what did you become. Pavitrata-svarupinyai

Your whole life you have maintained purity thoroughly. Your very nature is a purity. is a holy mother is a representation of purity if we have to understand what is purity we have to look to the life of Holy Mother. Tasyai kurmo namo namah. Therefore, I salute you but what does this salutation means here oh mother if i am your child and you are an embodiment of purity what should I be? I also should be pure only. What does purity mean? Last discussion in this class what does purity really mean. what is it? Me I  want to be pure what does that mean? Means i want to be myself. I don't want to get mixed up with anything else. What are we mixed up with? now are we mixed up or not? What are we mixed up? Who are you? No I'm a man. You are identifying yourself with what? Body. So what are you now? Oh, I am sometimes happy person sometimes unhappy. what are you mixed up with? The mind. So, we are never saying I am the pure atman. I'm something other than the body mind. We are never giving that answer so what is to be pure that I have to know. I am neither the body nor the mind then whatever remains that is what I am. So that is what what then what this scripture says about it you are a paramatman

Mano buddhi ahankara chittani naham

Na cha shrotravjihve na cha ghraana netre

Na cha vyoma bhumir na tejo na vayuhu

Chidananda rupah shivo'ham shivo'ham

Chidananda rupah shivo'ham shivo'ham

Chidananda rupah shivo'ham shivo'ham.

That is a called purity and that is a called being a child of the Divine Mother. So we will continue this in our next class.
