We are enjoying the Devi Suktam. We are still in the first mantra. There was a great lady who performed immense Tapasya. She was the daughter of a great Rishi called Ambruna. Therefore she is called Ambruni and the feminine equivalent of Rishi is Rishika. So she was called also by the name Vaak. So this Suktam. Suktam means expression of the experience of Brahman as I am everything. So when a person experiences this that person doesn't remain a person. It is no more an individual. Or as Swami Vivekananda used to make pun, truly that person becomes a true individual. Individual means indivisible. Now we call ourselves individual. But we are completely separate from everything. So this Ambruni, Rishika, she is expressing. What is it? Sarvam Kalvidam Brahma. Aham Brahmasmi and Idam Jagat Sarvam Aham Brahma. Idam Sarvam Jagat Brahmamayam. Brahmamayam Vere Brahmamayam Sarvam. Sadashiva Brahmendra's beautiful Sanskrit Bhajan. So the very first mantra. If we can split it and read it. Aham Rudre Vihi Charami. Aham Vasubhihi Charami. Aham Adityaihi Uttavishwadevaihi Charami. Aham Mitra Aruna Ubhau Vibharmi Aham. Aham Indra. Aham Agni. Aham Ashwini Kumaras. Ashwinobha Ubhau. So she is telling there is nothing that can be excluded from me. Now some of the most popular Vedic Gods have been mentioned here. In fact there are many many more Vedic Gods. Just as in our modern time even in Hinduism itself probably only in Hinduism we get even Vishnu's name. He is Krishna. He is Rama. He is Ramakrishna and innumerable for Shiva. Anybody Shiva, Rudra, so many wherever He is manifest He goes by that name. Similarly Devi. Devi manifests Herself everywhere and we can say in a way that if we want a real commentary upon this Devi Suttam, the real commentary is what is called Durga Saptashati, Devi Saptashati, Chandi Saptashati. So I create, I sustain and I again recycle. The whole thing is so much compressed in that simple hymn which we all sing at Vesper time. Sarva Mangala Mangalye. But that is the most important word. Sarva Mangala Mangalye. There is nothing called evil. What we perceive as evil is nothing but pure auspicious. But since we do not understand, so we think somebody is punishing me or Shaitan is punishing me or my Karmapala is punishing me. There is no punishment. There is only loving, chiding, correction. Everything in life, every event positive or negative or correcting factors. These are the things we have discussed also some of them. So this is the simple plain meaning. I move along with the Rudras and I move along with the Vasus and I move along the Adityas. I move along the Vishnadevas. I move along Mitra. I move along Varuna. I move along Indra. I move along Agni. I move along Ashwini Devatas. They are called twin Devatas. So this is the simple translation. Whenever we use that word, I move, we have to substitute it. I only put on their forms. And who is the creator? I am the creator. Who is the created? I am the created. And who is the rulers? Adishthatru Devatas. I am the presiding deity. That beautiful triangular concept. Everything is my manifestation. One Ishwara, one Devi, one Saguna Brahma, Adhyatmika, Adhibhautika and Adhidaivika. It is a big Leela. It is called Leela. So we have explored a little bit. I want to expand it a little more. Who are these Rudras? Who are the Vasus? Adityas? Vishnadevas? These are all some of the most prominent Vedic Gods. Similarly Varuna. Similarly Indra. Similarly Agni. Similarly Ashwini Kumaras. We will slowly discuss these people. We briefly discussed. Who was Indra? Hastadhipati. According to Vedanta Sara or Tattvabodha, he is the presiding deity of the hand. Remember the story of Ramakrishna, a Brahmin who was very proud and attending a beautiful garden. Once a cow strayed into his garden and of course cows only know food. They don't know what is beauty. So it ate some of the precious plants and this person saw it and rushed and killed it. And he read a little bit of Vedanta. Or he heard some of my talks also. So he had a little bit of Vedantic knowledge. So he said, I have not committed any sin. Indra is the presiding deity of this hand and this hand is controlled by him. So the Papa goes. We know the story. Indra came in disguise and he was praising and this fellow forgot what he uttered. I did this. I did that. I did everything. And then slowly Indra leads him to the dead cow. Now you are telling all the time, I tended this garden. I am responsible for what it is. Now who is responsible for the killing of this cow? According to Hindu view, killing a cow, killing a woman, killing a foetus, killing a Brahmana is equally a worst sin anybody can commit. Then this person had no words because he is telling, with my own hands, I have planted this, tended this, watered this, like that. He can't say now, with my own hands, I did not kill this cow. He was made speechless. So the Papa had come. This is just if we understand the concept behind every part of our body as well as mind. The Adhishthatru Devata of the mind is called the Moon and that also will come in the next mantra. Ahamsauma Mahanasam. So here we are talking that we don't own anything. We do not even exist and that was the experience of Totapuri. He thought that he owns his body. He owns his mind and I practiced spiritual disciplines. I conquered all the obstacles and I became a realiser of Brahman. But the Divine Mother taught a very good lesson. You don't even have the power to get rid of your body. You are so helpless. But it is I who made you what you are. So beautifully expressed in that beautiful Bengali bhajan, Kare Dau Maa Brahma Pado. Kare Koro Maa Adhogami. Same person, she can lift him up to the status of a Naira Brahman. But the same Naira Brahman can also be brought down to the lowest state, completely ignorant, ignoramus. In fact, that is what happens all the time. How that Brahman is none other than Sat, Chit and Ananda. So how can an embodiment of existence called absolute existence, absolute knowledge and absolute bliss, how can that person ever become a Jeeva, ever become anything in this world as an object? It is impossible. And this was what we were exploring in our Mandu Kekarika classes. So rationally put forward by Gaudapada and very beautifully illustrated by Shankaracharya and even more beautifully explained by Anandagiri's teacup. There is no creation. And really that is what we have seen. I will also remind you a little bit later on. The very first mantra says, Mithya Jagad Athishtana Muktidha Muktirupini I am the creator of this Mithya Jagat. Because the one cannot become many. And to think the one, the infinite becomes finite, the unlimited becomes limited, is a bhranti of not Brahman but of us. But how did we come? That is a mystery which Advaita Vedanta completely fails to answer. But that is not the point. The point is that God created us and any cause will be manifesting as the effect. All the ingredients of the nature of the cause is manifested with Nama Rupa Guna. That is called effect and that is called the world here. So if God created me, I cannot be ignorant, I cannot be limited, I cannot be Jeevatma. That is the idea. And so if there is a creation... And why is creation talked about? For people like us who cannot raise ourselves up to that highest state of Ekam Sat Viprah Bahudha Avadhanti. We cannot raise ourselves. So we accept I am separate, you are separate. I am born, you are born. And if I am born, then I am an effect. And every effect must have a cause. My parents are the cause. But who is the cause of this entire creation? And that is Saguna Brahma. So I must be a manifestation of Saguna Brahma. Saguna Brahma is a manifestation of the Nirguna Brahma. Therefore I must be none other than Brahma. The usefulness of this law of causation, that is, the whole world is an effect and it has come from God. And that God himself is called Brahman. That is the idea. Each soul is potentially divine. Shunvantu Vishwe Amrutasya Putra. This is what this Devi, Vaak, Ambruni is exclaiming here. We are talking, I have created this. And every part of the body I am ruling over. So Indra is the presiding deity of Bala. And he is also specifically the presiding deity of the hands. What about feet? For example, Vishnu. Who is the presiding deity of the ears? That is Shrutra. The Dik, that is the directions or Akasha. And who is the presiding deity of the eyes? Surya. So every faculty that we have, whether it is gross or subtle, all are presided over by only different manifestations of God. What about Karana Sharira or slumber state? Yes, the presiding deity is called Avidya in its specific form as Avarana Shiva. That is what we need to understand. So Indra is also considered as the supreme among the Gods. Why? We have explored that idea. He is a Brahma Gnani. And whoever is a Brahma Gnani, he was a Brahma Gnani. Indra was a Brahma Gnani. Agni was a Brahma Gnani. Vayu was a Brahma Gnani. So they became what is called Brahman themselves. And in our day to day life also, we survive, we exist because of the Surya. We exist because of the Agni. We exist because of the Vayu. We exist because of the Indra. This is how we have to understand. Who is a presiding deity? But without whose help, no object will be able to survive, exist. That is called the presiding deity. And a combination of all these presiding deities is called Brahman. Let us keep this in background. Then we go move. Aham Agni. I am also Agni Devata. As we discussed earlier, He is also called Havya Vahana. Havya means Havis. Havis means what people offer, used to offer by Rishis etc. In Vedic times, earlier times, that is called clarified ghee into the brightly burning fire. But in modern times, if we are offering a cloth, a flower, a fruit, water, whatever we offer, this is called Havis. And then who carries it? According to this indication, the fire, everything is offered into the fire. And nowadays we can witness this whenever Homa is done. We don't call it Yagna, but we call it Homa. Everything is the manifestation of God. The subject is a manifestation of God. The object is a manifestation of God. Both are manifestations of God only. And that supreme power, that supreme Sat Chit Ananda is called Brahman. So here Agni means whatever is brilliant, whatever gives light, whatever gives heat. And that is called Agni. And without light and without heat, there is no question of survival at all. Then we come across Ashwini Devatas. And these are, as we discussed earlier, the twin children of Surya or Aditya and his wife Samjnana. So they were born. They are extremely beautiful. Very, very, very handsome. Eternally young because they are the master physicians. Very healthy and strong. And they are called Deva Vaidyas. That is physicians for the Gods. And who requires physician? Only a person who is suffering from Roga. That means even if you go to Svarga Loka, don't think you are going to escape any Roga. There can be Roga also according to your Prarabdha Karma. That means you be very careful how much Somarasa you drink in the Deva Loka and how much of divine food, divine diabetic sugar-free food you will be eating in Deva Loka. There is a limit. It is very funny. They are the doctors for the Gods. And as I mentioned, there was a Rishi called Chavanar Chavana. And he was old. He was ugly looking. He was very weak. And he married a princess called Sukanya. And she really served. And he wanted to please her. So he pleased Ashwini Kumaras. And they came. They tested him. They restored his youth, his power, his beauty, his magnetic personality, etc. That is the story. And in turn, what was the doctor's fees? Previously, they were not allowed into the inner sanctum sanctorum of Indra, Agni, etc. They were not offered whatever harvest human beings offered to them. He was not given a share in that. But Chavan Maharshi said, unless you give that equal partnership with him, I will burn you down. Your whole UNESCO will be dissolved by my power. And I veto. Then you cannot function at all. And then they had no option. No, no, no, no, no. We are only just testing. This is what is called face saving. And then, even now, they are counted among the Devas. But in this story, we are talking about this Ambruni is telling, I am all these Gods and Goddesses. I only mentioned a few of them. That is all. So Sarvam Kalvidam Brahma. So she became Brahma. She became Rudras. Eleven Rudras and Vasus. Ashta Vasus. Then twelve Adityas. Then Vishwa Devas. And she has become Indra, Agni, Varuna, Ashwini, Kumaras, etc. Now in our Vedic, these Rudras are called manifestation of what we now call Shiva. The meaning of the Rudra is, if somebody, some human being, knowing fully well, misbehaves, then God takes the form of Rudra and makes him weep. That means suffering will be given. So Rodayati is a Rudraha. And popular knowledge is there are eleven Rudras are there. Just as a matter of academic information, They are called, eleven Rudras are Kapali, Pingala, Bhima, Virupaksha, Ilohita, Shastra, Ajapada, Abhirbudhya, Shmeshu, Chanda and Bhava. And some of the names are very familiar. Bhava, Bhavaya Namaha, Rudraya Namaha, Chandaaya Namaha, Virupakshaaya Namaha, Bhimaya Namaha, Pingalaaya Namaha, Kapaline Namaha, Ilohitaaya Namaha, Shastraya Namaha. So all these are there. Some, a few names are not very familiar. Then there is interesting. So there is a minor deity called Chanda. And that Chanda was invoked by some people. They did Upasaka, Chanda Upasakas. And they can call him at their beck and call. And then once they were called to find out what is wrong with Shri Ramakrishna. So these people came and then they said, He is not really suffering from a disease. He is in a divine state. And then they also knew he was eating too much of betel nuts. So he advised, this Chanda advised him, O Gadai, don't eat, otherwise your Brahmacharya will be lost. From that day, he reduced, I think, from 100 betel nuts to 99. These are the 11 Udras. Then Ashtavasus. We know from Mahabharata, Bhishma Deva was one of the Vasus. Then Aditya. Aditya means the Sun. How many Suns are there? 12 Suns are there. That is not S-O-N, S-U-N, Sun. And why their Sun? Because there are 12 months. And every month, the Sun will be in a particular position. And according to astrology, he will have tremendous effect upon each one of us. That is why when they study the birth charts, so which Graha, Surya Graha, Rahu Graha, Shani Graha, in which house, how long they affect a person, like that they will be telling. So what are the 12 Adityas? In Hindu lore, they are called Rashi. Kumbha Rashi, Mesha Rashi, Vrishabha Rashi, Mithuna Rashi, Karkataka Rashi, etc. So in English also, they have got Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. I don't know how to pronounce. When this Sun moves through the 12 Rashis associated with the 12 groups of stars, he is given a different name. According to astrology, it has a special type of effect. Definitely, we know the effect, how the winter comes, how the summer comes, how the rainy season comes. This even a most ignorant, an illiterate person also expects. And then we know the Ashtavasus. Vishwa Devas are a group of 10 Vedic Gods who are the sons of another great person, Devata called Vishwa. Ambruni is telling, I only manifest in their form and support this. So according to these commentators, Vishwa Devas are considered as one of the minor deities because we rarely hear about them. They are also supposed to be protectors of Ritam, one of the greatest concepts in the world. What is Ritam? Universal law. It is English language. This Ritam had become Rhythm. That is in music especially. In Pranayama, that Ritam should be there. Ritam means harmony. Later on, this Ritam only had become known through some particular name, Satya, Dharma, etc. These Vishwa Devas are supposed to be the protectors of Ritam, Satyam and Dharma. And whoever observes Dharma, reaches Satyam. And whoever reaches Satyam, they become one with Rita. And Rita is another manifestation of Brahman. Therefore, they become Brahman. I hope some bells ring. This is what we got in the Narayana Sukta which we have done. Satya means straightforwardness. Satya means whatever is real. That is called Satya. Not crooked. So our actions must be like a baby's actions. Baby doesn't know how to cheat others because whatever he feels, he expresses. He feels like smiling, he smiles. He feels like weeping, he weeps. Whereas when we are weeping, we are laughing. And when we are smiling, the terrible plot to do away with the other person is coming. I am so happy to see you. Are you? Find out. So this Ritam is protected by these Vishwa Devas. And then there is Varuna. Varuna, as we know, is the Adhipati for the waters. He is the ruler of Ritam also. It is he who controls Ritam. And what do the Vishwa Devas do? Just now we discussed, they protect. But who controls? He wants to change. It is in the power of the Varuna. These Varuna and Vishwa Devas, they destroy, they punish enemies of all those who are observing Ritam and try to transgress the laws of Ritam. And all these wars, people who die, people who suffer in the wars, they are the people who tried in their past Karma, Paapa Karma, and that is what they are. At the same time, Gods also protect their devotees who follow Pritha, that means Sathyam and Dharmam, in the exact manner as indicated by the scriptures. Then we have Mitra. And Mitra is called Surya. And what does this Surya do? But for what is called Surya Devata, it is impossible. Life will not... So in a way, he is the helper in creation, in sustenance, also in what is called recycling. Every day, this Mitra, without any fee, 24 hours a day, he lifts water from the Samudra. That is, he acts as a distillation plant. And then he supplies it where it is necessary. He pours it on the tops of the heights, mountains. So that by the law of gravitation, Bhudevata, the water comes down, trickles down, becomes streams, becomes rivers, and finally it reaches pure recycling process. So Varuna imposes Rita. Vishwadeva's protect Rita. And the Sun God, he is the creator of life and he is the sustainer of life. And he is also the recycler of life. That is why there are some marvellous truths found out nowadays especially by the scientists. What is it? Even what we call deserts, the deserts are at one time green forests. But in course of time, the Sun transforms them and burns them. All the forest fires are the effect of the Sun. What purpose? So that he can replant them. Young plants will come. Then the plants, the animals, they are completely dependent. We are dependent upon the vegetation and vegetation depends upon us. This is how the rhythm works. We are also, each one of us, in our own turn. We are the creators. We are the sustainers. We are also the recyclers. If we can do contemplation of these Gods and Goddesses, first we identify ourselves with them. Then along with them, they identify themselves with Saguna Brahma. And Saguna Brahma identifies himself or herself with Nirguna Brahma. This is how we are doing. And this is the thing that we are doing. If, for example, we are worshipping, contemplating, we are initiated into the Ramakrishna or Sharada Mantra, then first we reach, let us say, Sharada Devi. She is the Shakti, She is the Kali. And Kali merges in Mahakala and Mahakala is the Saguna Brahma. And that Saguna Brahma's real nature is Mahakala, that is infinity, beyond time, space and causation. For this purpose, whether we call it Vedic Yajnas, Yagas or modern temples and pujas, the process is exactly the same with slightly modified names and forms. That is why this chanting of the Devi Suktam is mandatory. I just now mentioned it. The best, what is called commentary upon this Devi Suktam is none other than the 700 and odd verses, what is called Devi Saptashruthi, Chendi Saptashruthi, Durga Saptashruthi, Devi Mahatmyam. These are various. So this Shayana, while commenting upon this, it is not there in the Devi Suktam. So this whole universe is nothing but Mithya. And his commentary, it makes us understand this fact. What does he say? This whole universe, concept of the universe, like silver is superimposed upon a shelf. Adhyastham means superimposition. What does it imply? Maya is perceived by every subject in the form of this world. And that tremendous power of Maya which has got two powers of concealing and revealing. It first conceals the truth and projects it as something else. Like we see, it first conceals the rope and then projects it as a snake. And it works not on the snake but on the rope and that rope in our mind in the form of a vritti. Sarpakara vritti is removed and Rajvakara vritti is removed and Sarpakara vritti is produced. And this is concealing power and projecting power called, respectively, Avarana Shakti and Viksha. That is why she says that in me, the entire creation which is perceived just as the silver, is perceived by all of us when the sun is shining as the silver shell. So this Maya alone is getting transformed. But let us not forget, Shri Ramakrishna's teaching, this Maya is of two types. One aspect of the Maya is called Avidya. And Avidya is never to be thought in a negative way. Avidya or this world is the only foundation. What is this world? Our bodies and minds. And our body and our mind is the only instrument by which we can purify our body, we can purify our mind. We learn by our experiences. We come to know that we have come from God. Therefore, this seeing everything as broken, limited, finite, that idea we have to overcome. Nothing is limited. Nothing is broken. Everything is the same, infinite. So this That is beautifully the commentary, as it were, of this. Now we are in a position to move to the next mantra. Now before we proceed, we have to keep in mind, the first mantra is what we call the foundational mantra. And we have to extend the same meaning. Just as I am manifesting as Rudras, as Vasus, etc. I am also manifesting and that is going to be expounded in many of these mantras. I am sustaining. I am manifesting and I am sustaining in the form of Somam. What is this Somam? So one meaning of Somam is called Somarasa. What is Somarasa? At Vedic time, they used to offer the juice of a particular creeper. And nowadays nobody knows what this creeper is. It is completely gone. And it is used to give very invigorating, strength giving and joy giving intoxicating type of drink. But don't think that that is the real meaning. Intoxication is... What is intoxication? This has a symbolic meaning. What is that symbolism? That when we really contemplate upon God and succeed in at least becoming a little bit that I am Ramakrishna, I am Holy Mother, etc. Then a tremendous amount of joy will be felt. This is called Rasaswadana. And that Rasaswadana is called Somarasa. And many of the pundits translating it in intoxicating liquor and these drinks, etc. How do we know? Because from the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. Once a drunkard who became a great devotee later on, Kalipada Ghosh, he met Sri Ramakrishna. Sir, my throat has become very dry. I want to just wet my throat. Will you give me some drink? And Sri Ramakrishna said, yes, yes, I can give. But it is so strong. Can you hold it up? Then he thought, is it British made? Then Sri Ramakrishna said, no, no, it is completely homemade. Homemade means spiritual. And Kalipada thought a little and said, yes, sir, I am ready. Give it to me. And Sri Ramakrishna touched and he became forever intoxicated. Same thing happened also to Girish Chandra Ghosh. He only said, whenever you feel like drinking, take mother's name and mother will become the intoxicant. Later on, Girish Chandra Ghosh had given up. And he was also an addict to opium. And he said, I decided to give up opium. And for one week, what tremendous torture! My whole body was longing like a thirsty person for a little bit of opium. But he was a man of tremendous mental power, will power and he overcame that one. Thereafter, the thought of even opium never entered. The thought of drink has never entered. Having touched Kalipada Ghosh, Sri Ramakrishna burst into a song, beautiful, Ame sura paan korine. I do not drink ordinary intoxicating liquor. Ame sudha khai. I drink only the divine nectar. How? By Jai Kali Bhole. By uttering the name of the divine. Every bhajan that we see is full of symbolism. So this Soma Prasa is symbolic. When a person succeeds in identifying himself even to a small extent with the Upasya Deva, the deity upon whom he is contemplating, he gets a tremendous amount of joy, which is the very nature of that Ishta Devata. And that is the meaning of intoxicating the other. This is the first meaning. Second meaning is Soma means Chandra. Very, very, very interesting connotation. So this Soma or the moon is supposed to be the king of all the medicinal plants. That is why in the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, we see Bhagavan Krishna narrating this one. He says that gama vishyacha bhutani ushnami sarvadhihi ushadihi Somo bhutva prasad That Soma rasa, we get here the name. Soma rasa, Chandra rasa. That is why the full moon or moonlight always delights us, makes us intoxicated. So who is maintaining this? I am manifesting in the form of Chandra. I am manifesting in the form of Soma rasa. I am manifesting as every plant in this. Even a rice plant is only a great medicinal. And what is the disease which it removes? The disease called hunger. So vibharmaham, I am manifesting. Vibharmaham means I support, I uphold. But the real meaning is I manifest myself as the Soma and also as the Somalata. Intoxication. Joy. So those who contemplate, that means what? Those who live a life of Ritam, a life of Satyam, a life of Dharma, only such people, they get what we call higher joy. Here it is called Punyam. And then pastaram utha pushanam bhagam So I uphold and cherish this Soma, the exuberant plant that is pressed out for the delight of the Gods at the time of Yajnas and Yagas. I am also the supporter of what we call the Moon. The Sun and the Moon. We have seen very beautifully in many of the Upanishads. Both in Snau also. This Aitareya also. Shweta Shatra also. And the same idea. All the Upanishads, if you squeeze all the important ideas, they are exactly the same. And many times the words are also the same. And then who is this Tvashta? Tvashta is supposed to be a divine sculptor, divine architect. He is also called Vishwakarma. You understand? When Krishna commanded Vishwakarma to come and build for the Pandavas that Maya Sabha, which deluded Duryodhana and made him angry. And that was done by Vishwakarma. Vishwakarma means he who sculpts this whole entire universe, etc. Now what is important? Vishwakarma means the creator of the whole universe. And who is that normally spoken of? We understand Brahma. So this Vishwakarma, the divine architect, divine sculptor is none other than. That means I am Brahma. I am Vishnu. I am Shiva. That is what this Ambruni Rishi wants to convey to us. Because it is Brahman who manifests all these. And this idea we have explored in the third chapter of the Kena Upanishad. It is Brahman who won the victory for you. And that Brahman manifested in the form of Shakti or the divine mother. And without surrendering ourselves to her. And then I am also the sustainer. Poshana means Poshana Kartri. That is sustainer. Bhagam. What is the Bhagga here? Bhagga is that which will sustain everything. He is also called Bhagga. This Bhagga word is a beautiful word. From there only has come the word Bhagawan. He who has Bhagga. That means he has got six qualities. Jnana, Aishwarya, Veriya, Bala, etc. And only he who has can give. So this Bhagga is another power of Brahman. I am that power of Brahman. I am manifesting as Vishwakarma or Tvashta. I am also manifesting as He who is capable of granting whatever desires we have. That is called Bhagga. Same way she continues. Means those who perform Ignas, Yagas in the olden times. And Homas, Pujas, etc. Whether it is Nagadevata Puja, Vinayaka Puja, Ganesha Puja, Rama Puja, Krishna Puja, Kartikeya Puja, Poleramma Puja or Mariamma Puja. These are all different names. Chandika, Chanda, Munda. That is why she killed. That is why she is called Chanda Munda. Chanda Munda in Ashwini. Chandika. It is supposed to be ferocious goddess. Ferocious for whom? For those who are not devotees. Who do not? Who are the devoted people? Those who live a proper scripturally oriented life are called devotees. Not simply you go and shed some horrible tears and then make the place dirty. No. He who transforms his life and that is the purpose of the... Nothing belongs to me. Everything belongs to you alone. Nahaam Nahaam Tuhu Tuhu. As Sri Ramakrishna used to say that is real Puja. So there were people who what is called worship, contemplate either physically or mentally. For such people what do I do? Dravinam Dadham. Aham Dravinam. Dravinam means what? The fruits that they see. And all the fruits, all the desires that were, that are, be in the future are divided into four classes. Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. And all the four is a beautiful song in Bengali. Aiman Vedate Ja. Come O mind, let's go for a walk. There is a tree called Kali and that tree is called Kalpataru. And whatever fruits you want that you will get. I reminded you earlier when Rama was cutting off the heads of Ravanasura. Again they were springing up. Any number of times he cuts off, any number of times they are springing up. And he was puzzled. And Vibhishana explained there is Amrutabhand, a pot of Amruta. And as long as it is there on the body of Ravanasura and he will be, his heads, any part, whether it's hands or legs or any part will regenerate itself instantaneously. He will not even feel. Then Hanuman was sent to steal it. And Hanuman stole it and was about to come out. And Ravanasura's wife Mandodari discovered the fact, wanted to tempt him with some fruits. And then there is a beautiful song again, Amarki Phole Rabhav. Am I lacking any fruits? I always live under the Kalpataru tree called Rama. And whatever fruits I want, Dharma, I will get Dharma. Kama, Artha or whatever. So these useless fruits, I leave it to you. I go to my Rama's Kalpataru. Beautiful idea is there. Dravina means all the fourfold fruits. I am going to give to anybody who worships. And the incident that happened in Holy Mother's life, let us recollect here. An outside Sadhu had come. He was really, really devoted to Holy Mother. And Mother was highly pleased. She spoke with him, guided him, blessed him. And while he was going, usually something has to be given by householders. But here Mother was not a householder. In a sense, she is the householder. She is maintaining the house of Sri Rama. So for whatever children... And Holy Mother goes by the name of Kamakshi, Meenakshi. That means whatever desires her children or whatever they require, just by glance, Kamakshi. Or just unblinkingly, even before they think about it. Like any mother who has a newborn baby, 24 hours she anticipates what the baby wants and fulfills. Even before he knows what to do, what not. So like that, the Divine Mother is willing. That is what is called. So this outside Sadhu came and Mother was highly pleased. And then she had a few fruits. So she picked up three fruits and gave it to him. Without murmur, he took them and went out. But he was very sad because he did not know Maths. So he said, Mother has given me only three fruits. What are they? The fruits of Dharma, Artha, Kama. She did not give me a fourth fruit called Moksha. And the Divine Mother anticipated what was passing on. She called her attendant and gave one fruit. And quickly find that Sadhu and give this also. And that Sadhu was in seventh heaven, they say, because he got it. And why did I call him bereft of Maths knowledge? Because from Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha is one way of counting. Reverse way of counting also is there. Moksha, then Kama, then Artha. Who wants Dharma? You got Mukti. All enjoyment is yours. Let Dharma go. Let Ritam go. Let Satyam go. Because he has become so... If somebody gives you Moksha, it is equivalent to giving all the four fruits. Aham Dadhami Dravinam Havishmate. And then Supraavye Ejamanaaya Sunvate. What does it mean? So if any, Ejamana. Ejamana means he who doesn't do the worship but he supports. He, what we call, finances the whole enterprise. For such a person, I am going to give Sunvate. That means of whatever he desires, all his desires will be fulfilled by me. It is the Ritwiks. It is the Pujaris that perform on his behalf. So Pujaris will get their own fees. Dakshina. Called Dakshina. But the Ejamana, he who makes arrangement by spending a lot of money, time, energy and for him whatever he desires. When Dasharatha did Putrakameste, the Divine Mother has given four wonderful sons. Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata, Kshetra etc. So if somebody wants rain, she will give rain. If somebody wants Mukti, she will give Mukti. If somebody wants Bhakti, she will give Bhakti. If somebody wants a wife, she will give a wife also. How do I know? Because as I just now mentioned, that is, O Mother, if you are pleased with us, grant us a beautiful wife. Mano ruthi anukolini. Mano rutha anusare. That is the real one. She who never disobeys me. She who always obeys me. Bhariya mano ramam dehi. Mano rutha anusare name. And this is a prayer. And she will definitely give. But you have to also equally pay for that. So this is the meaning. Suprabhye Ejamanae Somate. I uphold and cherish the Soma, the exuberant. I also uphold the Moon, who is the king of all the medicinal. And it is the delight of the way. Amruta is called Somaras. I am the supporter of the Divine Sculptor, here called Tvashtaram. I am also Bhaga, all the fulfiller of all the desires. I am the giver of the fruits of the sacrifices to those who perform. I am the grantor of the wealth of oblation to the mindful institutors. Ejamana of sacrifice and to the performer of Soma sacrifice. How beautifully I am the Ejamana. I am the Yajna. And I am the giver of the fruit, which is summarized by the Bhagavad Gita, which we always chant whenever we perform this, what is called about to eat food. Brahmaarpanam, Brahmaave, Brahmaajnau, Brahmanautam, Brahma eva tena gantaviyam, Brahma karma samadhenam. And it is the other six mantras also follow the same pattern. That is, I am the one who has become the world. I am the one who is maintaining, sustaining and taking it back. Srishti sthiti vinashanam, shakti bhute sanatane. That is the main idea. If we keep that always in the background, then it is very easy to understand. And we can also enjoy some details from the lives of Thakurma, Swamiji and other saints and saints. Om Jananem Sharadam Devem, Ramakrishnam Jagadgurum, Pada Padmetayo Shritva, Pranamami Muhurmuhu. May Shri Ramakrishna Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda bless us all with Bhakti. Jai Ramakrishna.
